Okay, let's go. Hello everybody. It's so nice to be here in Milan in my showroom. The idea is to have a salon style show which is very reminiscent of some of the shows I did in my early career in the late 70s in relatively small locations and very intimate. Then what I especially like about it is the fact that you're so close to the clothes. You are closer to the models. You can see the details more. And obviously it's in the home of Paul Smith in Milan.
The collection is very much about... I'm very privileged to be able to travel around the world a lot. And one of my passions has always been street markets. The discovery of interesting things. I love the eclectic mix. I mean, street markets to me are interesting for many reasons because often you see something very beautiful next to something that is very everyday. A contradiction of putting things together in an unusual way. Big with small. Texture with texture. Rough with smooth.
Of course, the fabrics are very much about summer. So, your linens, lightweight cotton, cotton suiting, print, using some photography from some of the places I've visited or embroidery, which is often what you'd find on a little scarf or something at a street market. So some of the collection you'll see is quite a literal approach to that with almost like a souvenir scarf you might buy at Pisa near the leaning tower or the pyramids of Cairo. But the main point really of the collection is color and the colors that you see when you travel to these different areas around the world. Lots of vibrant pinks, green, orange, playfulness of pattern on pattern, collage, and of course including some of our famous stripe.
