Lee Jae-yong, Executive Chairman of Samsung Electronics, spoke at an event in San Francisco on July 25, 2026, alongside President Lee Jae-myung and leaders from companies including NVIDIA, Broadcom, and OpenAI. He said that the speed at which artificial intelligence is changing life and the world has surprised him, and that the way humanity works, thinks, and lives is being fundamentally transformed. He stated that the AI era cannot be opened by the power of any single company or country, and that global cooperation across borders is essential to build a complete ecosystem encompassing innovative AI models, cutting-edge semiconductors, data centers, and abundant power. Lee described the United States as having the world’s best AI source technologies, platforms, and talent, and South Korea as having unrivaled competitiveness in semiconductors, devices, and advanced manufacturing. He said that combining these strengths would allow faster innovation, greater growth, and the solving of more challenges. He also referenced the president’s autobiography, recalling a story about a boy who touched a helicopter at a rural elementary school 50 years ago and dreamed of the future, and said Samsung would do its utmost so that the next generation living in the AI era can have even bigger dreams.

Yes. Is the microphone working? Can you hear me well? Because we made it with the company, the microphone should always be on. Now is truly an important time for Korea. I have maintained a friendship with Korea for the past 5 years, actually 25 years. Korea's PC gaming started 25 years ago, and since then, since I first introduced it, NVIDIA and Korea's PC bangs have grown together. Without this HBM memory innovation, we would not have been able to build supercomputers, and the power we have today would not have happened. This is Korea's opportunity, and NVIDIA was able to build supercomputer infrastructure because we built it with an end-to-end, full-stack software company. Like all industries and in all countries, we are collaborating on NPU. We have been on this journey with Korea, and it has continued from the beginning until now. This moment can be called Korea's golden age. This energy is showing a very high level. I always tell my colleagues, we have announced really important partnerships together. And also with SK Group, today we announced that our two companies, as new partners, will further expand our partnership to reach a business relationship of 5 billion dollars. It's a huge scale. Through this, we will purchase and develop a huge amount of memory. And including SK Telecom, as an AI infrastructure company, we will expand together and further equip Korea's infrastructure. We will also sell supercomputers to SK Telecom. So many business partnerships will be formed. In addition, we will proudly expand to many other neighboring countries. It is to foster Naver in Korea and support its growth. We will also work with Samsung and Chairman Lee Jae-yong, my friend Jin Shin-woo, and also with companies like Hynix for next-generation AI, chip manufacturing, and robotics cooperation. Also through Hyundai and ES, we will create robotic systems, digital factories, and next-generation digital twin factories. All of these are tremendous innovations. That is why I say that now is truly a great time. Through this amazing time, we will build every layer of the AI stack together. We will build energy infrastructure with LG, and chip manufacturing will be done with many of my friend companies. Also, we will go in new directions, not just the technology of each industry. I had mentioned to the President before, but I am truly proud. The Native Nation initiative was announced, and I deeply thank you for directly encouraging and supporting the AI industry. Technology development and industrial development are of utmost importance, and Korea's industrial development is really active. Korea and this industrial development can be said to be timely.
