Saab Gripen is the first plant outside of Sweden, which I think is really remarkable. So, my question would be how important is the Brazilian market for the Gripen now and how do you see it for the future?
Saab Gripen Brazil is an absolutely very important market to us. I mean, the Gripen Colombia from an operations perspective, Brazil will be a very important hub to us. And as I see it, the interest in the market is substantial now. So, we need to expand in Sweden and we need to expand here in terms of commerciality. And maybe if we get the really big contract either with Ukraine and Canada, we need another hub as well. So, Brazil will have a very important part of not only the Brazilian market, but the export market.
Yeah, like you had ongoing discussions with Peru before government changes there. I'd like to know what's the state of that campaign and when, then, if Brazil would be able to export some Saab aircraft to Ukraine.
As I said before, that would not be nice to provide weapons to the country. Well, I think on the first one, yes. I mean, we are proposing a very cost-efficient and competitive offer to Peru. And then, since these decisions are on a political level, I mean, when things are a bit turbulent, you may get a force or a combination process, but we are talking to the air force in a very good way and we wait to have a political breath process going forward. I think they have from a money perspective, they have taken the decisions to fund the program, but now it's more about how do we motion the force in competition. So, they have to select, but we are still campaigning in Peru. That's it. When it comes to where Brazil is prepared to support deliveries, that is a political decision, there's an export decision. And I hope that Brazil will be able to support the whole global market. I mean, honestly, we have had the Swedish government now deciding or giving, or what do you call it, the defense material organization in Sweden, the acquisition authority, they have said that go and now negotiate the contract with Peru. Sorry, with Ukraine. And then, that will be up to 150 aircraft. So, we will see the batches of that and yeah, capacity will be needed if we are successful on that contract. So, then we will have a discussion with the Brazilian. And otherwise, we have ramp-ups somewhere else. I don't know. We haven't had detailed discussions on that. Yes.
How much is the Brazilian experience for setting up a plant here in Brazil for Gripen useful as you go around the world and you have more and more demand for replicating this sort of solution? Is there a point where you get too many plants?
We won't have too many plants. I mean, in my mind right now, I think Sweden, Brazil, and maybe one more. I mean, if Canada selects to go to Sweden and not on the F-35, Canada might be that country and I don't know whether that will happen or maybe another country, but I think yes, of course, there is lots of experiences from how this process worked out. And what you need in terms of very capable receiver of technology and an engineering capacity, which Embraer and other industries in Brazil have demonstrated in a fantastic way. And we already have companies like AEL and our own aerostructures company in Brazil supporting the global market. And to get to that point is quite an effort and it's not easy. So, yes, we learned a lot, but it's been a good process. I think we can do it a bit quicker the next time depending on the receiving country. This took roughly 10 years to accomplish and now we're up and running. Maybe you can do it a bit quicker because of the experiences, but it depends so much on the receiving party and what kind of capability you have in country.
I'd like to understand what's the stage of the project with Colombia and if that happens, what could be the participation of Colombia?
Okay. So, the contract. What's the contract then? The contract is for 17 aircraft. Actually, two of them will be two-seaters and 15 single-seaters. And my view is that it would be logical to do as much as possible here. But we haven't really decided yet. But the Gripen program is being set up with first delivery. So, it's not a negotiation. Contract is signed months.
So, the participation of Brazil will be for you? Yeah, absolutely very important one. Sir, sorry. I have a question. Sir, sorry. I have a question.
In Brazil, we have plans to use AI in like beyond projects in Sweden. Do you have plans to implement here?
It's quite possible. I mean, touching upon one thing is really important. When we now have this capability in Brazil, it's not only about manufacturing aircraft. This is also about incrementally upgrading the aircraft because the active architecture allows. We took a production aircraft in Sweden and put an AI agent in that aircraft and flew it within weeks. We took off over a town and we let the AI agent fly the aircraft and support the missions of Saab. Of course, you can do that here as well. If you can have a large language model with the data from all the flight tests that we do here and build an AI agent based on that, it's absolutely doable. Perfect.
Thanks. My question is about the Gripen F.
He asked when can we expect to see the F rolled out and what's the status of the first aircraft? Yeah, it will be rolled out in June in Sweden. That's breaking news.
[laughter] I know it. Okay, I think I'm challenged.
