Jensen Huang, accepting the Van Fleet Award from The Korea Society, expressed gratitude for his long friendship with Korea, which began when he was younger than his children are today. He recalled his first visit, where young Koreans chanted Nvidia's name, and praised Korea's transformation from a technology-adopting country to a technology leader in two and a half decades, calling it an 'industrial miracle.' Huang then spoke of optimism about AI, calling it the most important technology of human endeavor and the start of the largest industrial infrastructure buildout in history. He emphasized the need to build AI responsibly and safely. He also recounted an incident where his Samsung Galaxy phone, the 'brightest phone in the world,' was waved on stage, leading to widespread speculation. Huang concluded that AI infrastructure will power every country and society, and that Koreans are building the 'factory of intelligence' with Nvidia.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I have to admit I'm rather uncomfortable with all this attention, and usually when people mention my name this many times, I'm usually in trouble somehow. I'm delighted to be here. I'm happy that my family is here. My good friends are here. Tony and Jay, I've known you for a long, long time. This award means a great deal to me. And I would say three reasons.
The first reason is a great, great sense of gratitude for the friendship that I've had with Korea since, in fact, I was younger than my children are today. I met Korea while I was trying to invent a new company, a new form of computing, and I was learning how to be a CEO while I was learning how to create an industry. And I had the privilege of meeting Korea while I was quite young. There were incredible memories of visiting Korea.
I had no idea that Nvidia was so popular with Koreans until the first time I went there. The young people were so passionate about Starcraft, and they were so passionate about Nvidia. And it was the first time that I heard the name of the company I helped create chanted out loud, and it took my breath away. And it's hard not to have fallen in love with Korea and grown up with Korea over the last several decades. So, I'm grateful for the friendship that I've built with the country, with all the people of Korea, and of course, my dear friends that are here today.
I'm incredibly proud also of both of us. Frankly, I'm humbled by somehow standing at the intersection of two great nations. In the course of forming Nvidia and Nvidia growing up, I also saw the transformation of Korea from the beginnings of a country adopting technology to a country now at the forefront of technology, and quite frankly, in just a matter of two and a half decades.
It is an extraordinary, extraordinary miracle that Korea is. And I know you know that Korea being called an industrial revolution, an industrial miracle, is not an understatement. That somehow the character of your people, the resilience of your nation, just the incredible aspirations for greatness, is unseen anywhere. And so it's incredible, and I've enjoyed watching Korea transform literally right in front of me. And so I'm incredibly proud that somehow I'm standing at the intersection of two great nations at a time when the relationship is more consequential than ever.
The next feeling I have is a great sense of optimism. We are at the beginning of unquestionably the most important technology of human endeavor. We are at the beginning of the largest industrial infrastructure buildout in history. We are in the beginning of transforming literally every single industry, and we are doing it together. And the work is, of course, incredibly aspirational, incredibly optimistic, but it is true that we also have to do it with great care. We have to bring everybody along with us, and we bring everybody along with us by giving them confidence that we will build this technology responsibly, safely, and for the better of all societies, unlike any technology industry before us, for the very first time.
Excuse me. Could somebody pass me my phone? I'm expecting a phone call.
It wasn't made up. I was on stage, and Janine, who's here, she was waving my phone, and nobody waves my phone. And this phone, as it turns out, outputs a lot of light. And I saw from a hundred feet away the name of the person who called me. And I said, "Oh no, it must be something urgent." And so anyhow, subsequently, I think several hundred million people went on to try to figure out what phone this was. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a Samsung Galaxy,
the brightest phone in the world. And so anyways, everybody's trying to figure that out. I'm delighted to report that it's a great phone. But the thing that's extraordinary, and Tony mentioned this just a second ago, the thing that's extraordinary is that the technology industry that we have created up until now is to create the tools by which we use, the tools used by people, humans.
And for the first time, the computers that we're building together are now part of infrastructure. Meaning that it's always on. It's always producing something of value. Whereas the internet, well, electricity, power generation made it possible for us to power anything everywhere. The internet made it possible for us to find anything anywhere. And now with artificial intelligence, we will be able to know everything and do anything any time. And this infrastructure of digital intelligence is unquestionably going to power every country, every society, every company.
And therefore, we're at the beginning of an extraordinary buildout. Well, no company, no people are better at building factories than Koreans. And now you are building the factory of intelligence. And we're building it together. And I know that this is something that all of my partners, Tony and Jay, and all of my partners and friends in Korea, nothing gives you more joy than to build factories. And we're now building factories of intelligence that's going to power society. And this is an extraordinary time, extraordinary opportunity. And so I'm incredibly optimistic about the future we have together. It's a great honor to stand at the intersection of two great nations and to be part of our two nations building the future together. Thank you very much for this great honor.
