2:22How do those onlys allow you to distinguish yourself and to distinguish D-Wave in an industry that is becoming more and more competitive as the days pass?
4:02How do you now accelerate this as it gets underway?
5:30How are customers currently using your products and what do they have to look forward to when that adoption really seems to come to bear?
7:12What does the next chapter look like for D-Wave?
Now, NYSE-listed D-Wave is on a mission to help customers realize the value of quantum through enterprise-grade systems. Committed to delivering products and services that transform industries, the company was at the NYSE earlier this month to host its inaugural investor day. Joining me to talk more about the day and the progress moving forward is CEO Dr. Alan Baratz. Alan, thanks so much for joining us on NYSE Live. Happy to have you here.
Absolutely. So, as I mentioned, D-Wave hosted its investor day here earlier this month. Broadly, what did you discuss? What were some of the takeaways away from it?
Yeah, it was a great day for us. We had over 100 investors in the room with us at the New York Stock Exchange. We had several hundred more watching online through our live stream. There were three important messages that we delivered throughout the course of the meeting. The first is that D-Wave is actually the only quantum computing company that can address the full market for quantum, all the use cases for quantum computing. And the reason for that is that we are the only dual-platform quantum computing company. The only company bringing both of the two important architectural approaches to quantum computing to market, both annealing systems for solving optimization problems and gate model systems for solving quantum chemistry problems. Second, we are the first and currently only truly commercial quantum computing company. And what I mean by that is that we actually have customers that are using our quantum computers today on a daily basis as part of their business operations, truly in production commercial use of our quantum computers. And third, we have customers that are getting a solid ROI on the use of our quantum computers. Companies like Ford Otosan using us for automotive body manufacturing optimization, or BASF for chemical production scheduling optimization, or NTT Docomo for cell tower resource optimization. So, we're the only company that can address the full market for quantum, the only company that's doing that with commercially viable products today, and the only company that has customers that are actually seeing a true ROI using our quantum computers today.
And so, that's a lot of onlys. How do those onlys allow you to distinguish yourself and to distinguish D-Wave in an industry that is becoming more and more competitive as the days pass?
Yeah. So, it really goes back to that dual-platform approach that I talked about a few minutes ago. The fact that we are bringing both annealing quantum computers and gate model quantum computers to market is very important. It allows us to be the one-stop shop in the market for quantum computing to support whatever use cases you might have. On top of that, our annealing quantum computers are very mature today. We're in our sixth-generation annealing quantum computing systems. These are the largest and most powerful quantum computers in the world. They are the only quantum computers on which true quantum supremacy has been demonstrated. In other words, we've been able to show that we can solve important real-world problems on our quantum computers that cannot be solved classically, and they are being used commercially today. That all makes us very different from anybody else in the quantum industry. And then, of course, we are also bringing gate model systems to market. That's newer for us. We're getting started in the gate model space only fairly recently, but we did an acquisition in January of a Yale spinout called Quantum Circuits that brings us some truly revolutionary gate model technology that we believe has moved us from maybe the back of the pack to the front of the pack in gate model quantum computing as well.
