Hey! We will talk about these in a minute. Welcome to Connect! All right! AI glasses and virtual reality. Our goal is to build great-looking glasses that deliver personal superintelligence, and a feeling of presence using realistic holograms, and these ideas combined. Now glasses are the ideal form factor for personal superintelligence. They let you be present in the moment while getting access to all these AI capabilities that make you smarter, help you communicate better, improve your memory, improve your senses and more. Glasses are the only form factor where you can let AI see what you see, hear what you hear, talk to you throughout the day, and very soon, generate whatever AI you need in real time. It is no surprise that AI glasses are taking off. This is now our third year shipping AI glasses with our great partner, EssilorLuxottica, and the sales trajectory we have seen is similar to some of the most popular consumer electronics of all time. We are focused on designing glasses with a few clear values. Number one, they need to be great glasses first. Now before we get to any of the technology, the glasses need to be well-designed and comfortable. If you are going to wear glasses on your face all day, every day, they need to be refined in their aesthetics, and they have to be right. In addition to working with iconic brands, we have spent years of engineering, obsessing over how to shape every fraction of a millimeter and a portion of a gram we can from every pair of glasses that we ship, and I think that shows in the work. Number two, the technology needs to get out of the way. The promise of glasses is to preserve the sense of presence that you have when you are with other people. This feeling of presence is a profound thing. I think we have lost it a little bit with phones, and we have the opportunity to get it back with glasses. When we are designing the hardware and software, we focus on giving access to very powerful tools when you want them, and then having them fade into the background otherwise. Number three, take superintelligence seriously. This is going to be the most important technology of our lifetimes. AI should serve people, not just be something that sits in a data center automating large parts of society. We design our glasses to be able to empower people with new capabilities, as soon as they become possible. Think in advance about what kind of sensors will be necessary. We make it so we can update your software and make your glasses and yourself smarter, direct AI towards what matters most in your life. All right. With all that said, we do have some new glasses to show you today. And I want to start with these, the next generation of Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Now these are the original, iconic design. I think these are the most popular glasses design in history. And now with double the battery life. I wear them all day, they never run out of battery. It has 3K video recording, double our previous resolution for smarter and smoother video. These are all shot with Ray-Ban Meta. Meta AI keeps on getting better. Last year I did this live demo translating between two people on stage. Today I am excited to introduce a feature we call Conversation Focus. It is a new feature coming soon that will be able to amplify your friend's voice in your ear. So if you are in a noisy restaurant, you are basically going to be able to turn up the volume on your friends or whoever you are talking to. And Conversation Focus is not only going to be on the new Ray-Ban Meta, it will be available as a software update on all the existing Ray-Ban Metas too. To show those, we have Donnie and Jack in the streets of New York to show how this works.
Hello, how are you? Renaissance vibes going on. Jack.
It will be a couple of minutes. And injure advice.
Every time I get my picture taken, I just want to feel like a regular person.
Hello Meta, start Conversation Focus. As soon as the camera comes up, I have this serious deer in headlights. How do I be more normal? How do I be more natural?
Sometimes I play around, fixtures leave a little bit. Like nobody is around.
All right! Conversation Focus. We are also improving Live AI. As we optimize battery and energy efficiency, Meta AI will transition from being something that you invoke when you have a question, to a service running all the time helping you out throughout the day. To be clear, we are not there yet on all-day Live AI. It is one of the major technology challenges we are working through. But today you can use Live AI for about one hour. To get a feeling for what this is like, let's cut to Chef Jack coming to us live from the kitchen on Meta's campus preparing for the after party. How is it going, Chef? What do you think? Maybe let's make a steak sauce? Korean-inspired type thing, just to show what the Live AI is like?
Yeah, let's try it. It is not something I have made before. Meta, start Live AI.
Starting Live AI. I love the setup you have here. Was soy sauce and other ingredients. How can I help?
Can you help me create a Korean-inspired steak sauce for my steak sandwich?
You can create a Korean-inspired steak sauce using soy sauce.
You already combined the base ingredients, so now add to the sauce.
You have already combined the base ingredients. Prepare to pour and gently combine it with the base sauce.
I think the Wi-Fi may be messed up. Back to you, Mark!
It is all good! It's the irony of the whole thing. You spend years making technology and then the Wi-Fi kind of catches you. All right. Anyway, we will check out what he made later. When you are building glasses, there is an important intersection between technology, fashion and style. That technology keeps getting more useful, and as I said before, these need to be great-looking glasses that people love to wear. We are releasing the Ray-Ban Metas in more colorways to match your style. Here are a bunch of the new ones. Last year, with Connect we released a limited edition frame. They were pretty popular. They sold out in a few days. We have a new limited edition transparent matte frame with two colors. So get them quickly because they are probably going to be sold out in a few days too. It has been pretty fun just to see how designers have taken Ray-Ban Meta in a lot of different directions. Some of you probably are familiar with this fashion label. It is a bold designer bringing together sportswear and high fashion. Recently debuted a look that centered on Ray-Ban Meta at New York Fashion Week. Here today along with Christie modeling the look that he created. Good to see you. All right. That is the next generation of Ray-Ban Meta. We are excited! Starting at $379. All right. This summer, we launched our first pair of AI glasses with Oakley, the Oakley Meta. It is another iconic brand. Oakley is synonymous with sports for 50 years now. They are available in a number of great colors. Today I am excited to add to our Oakley collection, and announce the brand-new Oakley Meta Vanguard. Now this is the iconic Oakley aesthetic. These glasses are designed for performance. With these, we push the battery even further. You can run a marathon using them the whole time on a single charge, then you can turn around and run another marathon on the same charge and still not be out of battery. The camera is centered for perfect alignment for the shots, and has a wider 122-degree field of view so you can capture all the action of your adventure, and it has 3K video stabilization. As you go down a trail, you will be able to capture some really great videos. All right. The Oakley speakers are one of the most powerful speakers we have shipped yet, 6 decibels louder. Great for running on a noisy road, biking, 30-mile-an-hour wind. I took a call on a jet ski a few weeks ago. It was great. I could hear the other person fine over the engine. And our advanced wind noise reduction makes it so you can be basically standing in a wind tunnel and hear the person clearly on the other side. The person had no idea I was on a jet ski, which is good. We have added slow-motion and hyperlapse capture mode. You can capture your adventures in new ways. These modes are also going to be available on all the new glasses we are announcing, Ray-Ban Meta, so you can get great footage. We are partnering with Garmin. And introducing auto captions. Now if you are wearing a Garmin device, the glasses will automatically capture video when you reach certain speeds, certain distance intervals. Every mile of a marathon. When it is done, it saves all the videos and you can overlay, and have a nice video you can share anywhere you want. We are also partnering with Strava. All right. We are putting LEDs in them. It can light up in your peripheral vision to help keep you on your pace target or heart rate zone target. That will be very useful if you are using a Garmin device too. These are also our most water-resistant glasses yet, with an IP67 rating. They can get wet. I have taken them out surfing. It is fine. It is good. There you go! They are also designed with swappable Oakley Prizm shield lenses for different light conditions and different styles. You can customize this iconic design however you want. I think these are pretty awesome. I am excited for you to try them out, take them for a test. We gave them to our friends at Red Bull, so check this out.
Hey Meta, what is the world record for the longest wakeboard slide?
Hey Meta, what is the speed limit?
Hey Meta, start recording. Let's have some fun!
Your current speed is 103 kilometers an hour.
Hey Meta, record slow motion.
These glasses are perfectly fit. Amazing.
Oakley Meta Vanguard. Preorder starts now. We will ship them October 21st. All right. Now let's check out those glasses I walked onstage with. We have been working on glasses for more than ten years now. This is one of those special moments where we get to show you something that we poured a lot of our lives into, and something I think is different from anything I have seen anywhere else. I am really proud of this, and I am really proud of our team for achieving this. This is Meta Ray-Ban Display. These are glasses with the classic style you would expect from Ray-Ban, but they are the first AI glasses with a high-resolution display. And a whole new way to interact with them. The Meta Neural Band. This guy. All right. This is not a prototype. This is here. It is ready to go, and you can buy them in a couple of weeks. All right. So, what is new here? There are two key innovations: the display and the neural interface. The display is large enough to watch a video or read a thread of messages. It appears in one eye, it is slightly off-center so it does not block your view, and it disappears after a few seconds when it is not in use so it does not distract you. It is very high-resolution and very bright. I mean like 42 pixels per degree, sharper than any major headset out there, and up to 5000 nits of brightness. It is crisp whether you are indoors or outdoors on the sunniest day. This required a custom light engine, waveguide to deliver this, a lot of awesome technology. Then there is the neural interface. Every new computing platform has a new way to interface. So for the glasses, we are replacing the keyboard, mouse, touchscreen, buttons, dials, with the ability to send signals from your brain with little muscle movements that the neural band will pick up. You can silently control your glasses with barely perceptible movements. The Meta Neural Band is a huge scientific breakthrough. We have built a neural interface into a durable, lightweight, comfortable and good-looking wristband with 18 hours of battery life and is water resistant. Now, I want to get into this in more detail. We have two options: the slides or the live demo. Let's do it live! All right! Now, one of the most important and frequent things that we all do on our phones is send messages. When we were designing these Meta Ray-Bans, we wanted to make it really easy to send and receive messages. And look, he is messaging me right now. All right. Now okay, I can go ahead and dictate with my voice, I can send a voice clip, but I have this neural band, and it is silent. And now, a lot of time there are a lot of people around, so it is good to just be able to type without anybody seeing. I am up to about 30 words a minute on this. You can get pretty fast. Want to try a video call? I think we showed. What do you think? All right. All right. I think our call will be coming in any moment now.
There we go. That's too bad. I don't know what happened. Maybe you can try calling me again. All right. We have a missed video call. All right, I am just going to pick that up with my neural band. This is... You know, it happens. Let's see what you think. Let's just go ahead.
All right, let's try again. And if not, we will go for the last one. Okay. I don't know what to tell you guys. All right. We are going to have Buzz come out here and we will go to the next thing, and hope that will work. Now, Buzz is going to come out and he will need some walk-out music, especially after that. I will now be able to open up Meta AI with a subtle tap that you probably will not see. Play 'California Dreaming.'
From Spotify, here is 'California Dreaming' by The Mamas and the Papas.
If I want to adjust the volume, I can bring up a volume control in front of me. There we go.
This Wi-Fi is brutal. I don't know. We will debug that later. You practice these things 100 times.
My team has to go debug on the stage. We will take a video later and show the video that way. All right. What should we show? We talked about Conversation Focus earlier, and how now with the Ray-Ban Meta, they can turn up the volume on a friend, but here you can do something even better. You can put subtitles on the world. You want to check this out?
I don't know about you. When I watch TV...
Really live with. When I watch TV, I almost always have the subtitles on. I can hear fine but I find it easier to follow along. If you have an issue with hearing, I think this will be a game changer.
I agree. It can also do translation. If I am talking to somebody in a different language, I will get a translation in my native language. Real-life subtitles.
There we go. Everybody who loves the Ray-Ban Meta, the number one request is to see the picture before they take it, and before they share it. With the viewfinder we have the chance to do that. Let's go ahead and pull up the camera. I have a lot of missed calls from you.
I was trying to call you. Were you busy?
You have some sick shoes. All right, take some photos. Should I take a video just because we missed that opportunity before? Say hello. There we go.
I have something to show them.
Do you want to show the case?
Nice and flat, fits in your pocket, fits in your bag. Pops open, charging mode.
There you go. Take photos really simply, then I can go ahead and browse through them and look at them after. Nice high-resolution display. Totally do video chats, watch the videos on your camera. That is what my face would have looked like if the video call came through.
A pretty good speed run. That's about what you can get. All right, see you in a minute.
All right. You get a sense of how the Meta displays and the neural band come together to enable amazing new things. The last thing I want to show is a glimpse of how this is going to work with AI. The basic idea here is, we all have dozens of conversations throughout the day. If you are anything like me, in every conversation there are normally five things you want to follow up on. Maybe something you were supposed to do, a conversation that reminded you you had to have, maybe somebody said something you were not sure about and wanted to confirm or get more context on. It is tough to follow up in the middle of a conversation. If you are anything like me, you probably don't and just forget a lot of these things. The promise of glasses and AI is they will help with this over time. You start a Live AI session, and the glasses will be able to see what you see, hear what you hear, and go off and think about it and then come back and help you. This one is inherently harder to show. It is nondeterministic. We will roll out a lot of these features over the coming months. We put together a video of what this will be like. Let's check this out.
Thank you so much. I am so glad he reached out!
Hey! Yeah, I was hoping you could help me on this board and building for my brother.
Of course. Meta, start Live AI.
My brother needs something with a wide tail to catch waves but the performance of a narrow tail.
