0:00How much of an issue is the same power you have to give to third parties?
1:03Is this a good partner who has had issues at this power supply level?
1:55Which customer was it that was impacted by this delay?
2:42If your supply is tight today, what procedures are you putting in place for the event that your backlog doubles and supply is even tighter?
4:39Or is it just something we will see time and time again?
6:42I want to ask whether you think the US is stunted by this supply chain headache, or can something be done from a federal perspective to ensure you can build at the rate you want without these headaches?
7:58How are you thinking about serving smaller labs and casting that net wider if capacity gets freed up?
9:34What data are you tracking on demand for inference-specific chips from others?
Oh, look, it's important to understand that every single part of this ecosystem is dependent upon other parts of the ecosystem. Nobody controls the entire supply chain. That's just the nature of doing business at this scale. On projects as complicated as the design and architecture of the chips, through the fabrication of the chips, through the building of the data center, through the concrete that goes into it, it's really hard to even contemplate a world in which you have true control over every aspect. You're going to work with partners that are able to help drive your business forward.
Yeah, they are a good partner. We've been working with these guys since 2008. There has been a stumble, an issue, and it's going to be cleaned up rapidly. But I wouldn't say they're not a good partner. We've gone back and contracted with them again and again, and they've contracted with us because we work well together. Occasionally you hit a bump in the road. What we're talking about is a contract that gets pushed back by one quarter, and the impact on our revenue is a delay, not a loss. That is the definition of working with an ecosystem of good partners.
We don't speak to specific customers within the data centers. But we are working with a material part of the broader ecosystem that consumes compute at this scale. This is a large project from a large counterpart. They understand the impact of this delay and are shifting with us the contract to ensure the total contract value is captured.
I thought you might say that, but I wanted to offer you the opportunity to explain who the customer was anyway. I presume this will sound like I work in your internal audit or risk team, but there is a bigger issue of managing third-party risk as much as you can. If your supply is tight today, what procedures are you putting in place for the event that your backlog doubles and supply is even tighter?
That is the question we work on across our company continuously. During the earnings call yesterday, I talked about the incredible impact of our effort to diversify our clients. We started the year with 85% of our revenue to a single client, and we are coming out with our backlog at all-time highs where no specific client is more than 35%, down from 50% last quarter. On the supply side, no single data center provider represents more than 20% of our 2.9 gigawatts of power over the next 24 months. We have a real focus on diversifying both the clients we deliver infrastructure to and the suppliers delivering us the components we need.
