Jeff Bezos stuns crowd of journalists when he tells them he wants Donald Trump to succeed and believes he will. “I am very optimistic this time around, I am very hopeful, Trump seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation, and if I can help him do that, I am going to help them,” he said, noting that big economic growth can help solve issues like the national debt. “I am very optimistic that President Trump is serious about this regulatory agenda, and I think he has a good chance at succeeding.”

About this, he seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation. And my point of view, if I can help him do that, I'm going to help him, because we do have too much regulation in this country. This country is so set up right to grow. By the way, all of our problems, all of our economic problems, if you look at the deficit and the national debt and how gigantic it is as a portion of GDP, these are real problems, and they're real long-term problems. The way you get out of them is by outgrowing them. You're going to solve the problem of the national debt by making it a smaller percentage of GDP, not by shrinking the national debt, but by growing the GDP. You have to grow the denominator, and that means you have to have a growth mindset. We are the luckiest country in the world. We have all these natural resources, including energy independence. We have the best risk capital system in the world by far. Unfortunately, we don't utilize them all because of regulation. Point taken. People get confused about why the United States has so much venture success, so much entrepreneurial success. Why are the big tech companies here and not somewhere else? What's really going on with all this dynamism in this country compared to what we see elsewhere in the world? There are a bunch of reasons for that, but the biggest one, eight out of ten points, is that we have better risk capital. It's not the banking system. We have a good banking system, but risk capital really is a double-edged sword. If you go to third world countries, the biggest thing that holds back villages from growing and expanding into cities is lack of access to capital. There's a great book, I think it's called... I can't remember the name of it, but basically, let's just take a business for example. You want to do an excavation company. If you have the capital to buy a bigger and better excavator, you're going to be able to take on bigger and better jobs, therefore you're going to be able to make more money. So having access to that capital, being able to buy more equipment in my business, every time I've bought an equipment, the amount of profitability that my business has has increased, because I'm able to utilize those assets to make more money. If I didn't have access to the $100,000 to buy the equipment, I couldn't do that. So the risk capital system that we have in this country is turning out to be very hard for other countries to duplicate. So we have that. We have, you know, we speak English, and English is turning into the lingua franca of the whole world. There are so many advantages here, but we are burdened by excessive permitting and regulation. You can't build a bridge, and all these examples we see all the time. We need to be able to build solar fields and everything. So you're optimistic? I'm super optimistic about this President. The reason I'm very optimistic is that President Trump is serious about this regulatory agenda, and I think he's going to succeed. I think he has a good chance of succeeding, and we'll certainly be following it. So if you want to find out how great it's going to be, just make sure to subscribe to the channel. Let's keep going.

What about the press? It's not the press set up to be the enemy. The press would call themselves the enemy. They would call themselves the resistance. They're constantly going after, and this is true on both sides. Fox News was the enemy for the Biden administration. I don't have a problem with the press being a counterweight to what our politicians are doing. I have a problem when they try and say that they're not biased in a certain direction, when they try and pretend that they are only reporting the facts, only telling the truth. I think most people watching this channel would agree. The press is not the enemy. I hope you're right. I hope I'm right too. So let's go persuade him of this. No, let's you and I go talk to him if we could. I really don't think he's going to see it the same way, but maybe I'll be wrong.
