Leaders will return to the topic of competitiveness at their upcoming retreat on the 12th of February and at the March European Council. Last but not least, the situation in the Middle East will also be discussed by the leaders. The adoption of UN Security Council resolution 2803 offers an opportunity to advance towards peace. The European Union has a role to play in contributing to the full implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza and in ensuring that the path to a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution remains viable.
