The Honest Truth About Crypto Tokenomics | Yuval Rooz

📅 Apr 24, 2026 LongView Compute 12 MIN 395 VIEWS 8 SEGMENTS · 2 SPEAKERS
Most crypto tokenomics fail. Not eventually — by design. The promise was always the same: use the network, the token wins. Ethereum said it. Solana said it. XRP said it. The market has spent a decade proving that promise wrong. So I took that directly to Digital Asset CEO Yuval Rooz. I asked him the most honest version of the question I could: how do I actually invest in Digital Asset right now? His answer — you can't. Digital Asset is a private company. But what you can do is buy Canton Network's CC token. Because Canton is the company. CC is the share. That's not a metaphor. That's the arc...

And you touched on education and education the space and I think that's probably that's really really important. A lot of people make these investments and they don't even know fully what they're getting into or what's really behind the blockchain. And one of the things we try to talk about here is understanding the tokenomics, understanding how retail can get involved because it's not like we can go out and buy a share of Digital Asset or a share of Ripple, you know.
Yeah. And so until an IPO, so people are trying to, people believe in your company. What's the best way for retail who believe in Digital Asset and where it's going to get involved?

Well, with respect to Digital Asset, I wish I had a better answer today, but you know, maybe in the future there will be an opportunity, but as of right now there isn't. Let me take a step back. To me, one of the exciting things about crypto as an idea was that historically the average person didn't have access to be a stakeholder in some of the most critical pieces of infrastructure in the world. You couldn't get a piece of Visa before Visa IPO'd. You couldn't get a piece of MasterCard before MasterCard IPO'd. You couldn't get a piece of Swift even today. And I can keep on going about all these systemically important pieces of infrastructure. And what to me crypto made very interesting is this idea that you could actually own a stake in this piece of infrastructure if you believe that it's going to be the next generation of financial infrastructure.
So, a lot of the feedback that we get today is like, well, why isn't the price going up? You know, there's and I'm sure we're going to get into those topics. I see that a lot of people wanted to get information and I'm happy to talk about it. I'm not going to say where the price is going. I'm saying that in advance, but I will give some points about my thoughts about what's going on. But it is an opportunity and this is not a solicitation, but one of the ideas of crypto is even if you're not a consumer or participant in the network, what crypto networks have given is the opportunity to own a piece of the infrastructure assuming that you believe it's going to become the next phase of infrastructure. I mean, Ethereum's whole pitch was this is going to be the world computer. Well, if you want a piece of the world computer, well, you can do that, right? So, that's one way of people to be able to participate. You know, it's an interesting question and it's worth actually thinking about. Are there other ways for people to participate in the Canton narrative? I will advise that, you know, what companies did on Ethereum and there's of course a lot of success stories, but I would say majority are failures, are all these companies that launched their own tokens. And I don't know. I mean, I'm not sure that I have strong opinion one way or another, but I would say that one of the good things of having kind of sophisticated investors as a starting point, I think, is a proof point for someone who cannot take that kind of risk later on that at least someone was able to take risk. I think that there's, you know, a lot of times people say, oh, only those companies had the opportunity to invest early on. Well, like, yeah, but those people took quite a significant amount of risk very early on and were willing to underwrite quite a significant amount of money, right? So, it's interesting, you know, it's worth thinking about. Are there better ways to kind of give opportunities to people to participate and I'm always open for ideas. But, you know, the best thing right now is if you wanted to, I mean, you could own a piece of Canton as of right now, right? That's one way to participate.

Well, I just try to ask the question a different way because I think a lot of other than saying, you know, other than purchasing the token because right now I think a lot of retail investors are stepping back from the space because they were made that promise that, you know, and I'm going to use other examples, not trying to be comparative, but, you know, say, you know, you buy a piece of XRP or you buy XRP, you buy a piece of the network and the token will appreciate with the blockchain. And now granted some people had unrealistic expectations, but we heard the same thing about Ondo, HBAR, Chainlink and we haven't seen any token appreciation recently. It's been a very bad time, so a lot of retail holders are now feeling like they're left holding the bag and they front ran all of these blockchains. So, what about our tokenomics? And I know the tokenomics are different on Canton. I would love for you to maybe tell us how the tokenomics are set up differently for CC.
