About Xiaopeng He

He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of Xpeng, unveiled the company's L03 model at a brand event in Munich on July 16, 2026. He announced German pricing for the vehicle, stating the pure electric version starts at €35,600 and the range-extender version at €38,600. He said the L03 is a "global car" that will be available in 65 countries by 2026, adding that "great technology should be for everyone." During the event, he also discussed the company's vision for "Physical AI" and introduced an updated XOS 6 smart cockpit system with multilingual support. On July 9, 2026, He Xiaopeng completed the first internal test ride of Xpeng's robotaxi service, ordering and boarding the vehicle from the company's headquarters. He said the vehicle was already using L4 autonomous driving but noted that "because of government regulations and requirements, we need to first go through a manned testing phase before unmanned." He described the ride as safe and comfortable, and stated that Xpeng's approach is to sell robotaxi technology as

Why did I build this car? Actually, there aren't that many reasons. I just wanted to build a car for myself and my friends. I know my friends too well. They want a car that is thrilling to drive, grand, high-tech, and luxurious, while also meeting all the needs of the whole family. It must be a car that can be completely trusted in all kinds of environments. As the saying goes, it's not that I'm afraid of accidents, but that I cannot have an accident, because there are people waiting for me to come home. So the car I build must not only be big, but also be safe enough. How to achieve this? Through technology. Safety is the ultimate luxury. It has super five-star safety and comprehensive active safety protection. But that's not enough. We've done the industry's first 720-degree six-fold continuous collision test. My requirement is: crash from the front, left, right, and rear, smash from above, and scrape from below—720 degrees. No matter how you hit it, it must withstand it.
Some friends worry about battery safety. We did special design and testing. Even after scraping the bottom and driving through water over a meter deep, the battery pack won't catch fire or explode, and not a single drop of water should leak inside the car. Some friends also worry about falling asleep or even fainting during a long road trip. This car can steadily pull over to the roadside, automatically call for help, and the XPeng emergency assistance center will ask if you've hit a pole. Active safety and passive safety—I believe they are already at the industry's limit. But for me, that's still not enough. We applied the high standards from our flying car experience to this car: the industry's first aviation-grade six-fold safety redundancy design. What does that mean? Steering, braking, drive, communication, power supply, and unlocking—these six systems all have backups. If you're on a long trip in the wilderness and encounter an emergency, even if one function fails, there's backup capability to save the day. This car's safety must be extreme. It must live up to the trust our friends place in us. Safety is the ultimate luxury.
Speaking of luxury, I think in this era, making the interior sparkle might be one approach, but true luxury requires excellent configuration, exquisite design, and the added differentiation of technology. If you still use traditional thinking to create luxury, I believe it's far from enough. For example, a flagship that seats six people but can't even fit a large suitcase for each person—that's not spatial luxury. When seating four people, can it fit four bicycles? When seating five, can it also fit five sets of golf bags? Is it the industry's widest six-seater? Can every seat recline comfortably? All of this must be possible. How? We must rely on technology to solve it. And noise reduction—besides passive noise reduction like double-glazed windows, can we apply noise-canceling headphone technology to the car? And the refrigerator—besides cooling, can it also sterilize and deodorize? And the privacy glass—can it change color instantly with one touch to enter sleep mode? How can we achieve this? Again, through technological innovation and leadership.
The most direct feeling of technological development in a car, I believe, is intelligent driving. Many of my friends love to drive off-road or go camping, but when they're tired from playing, what about the return trip? Of course, let the car drive itself. Our intelligent driving capability is well known to be impressive. XPeng's second-generation XNGP has already shown the whole industry a miracle. The industry is using our cars as a benchmark. I can tell you now that XPeng's intelligent driving will reach a new level. We will release the world's only version that can roam and drive autonomously in underground parking lots and campuses without navigation. Don't worry, just try it boldly. This is an assisted driving system that even mothers can trust. Some friends ask why XPeng's intelligent driving is so strong. It's related to our AI large models, our steer-by-wire chassis, and computing power. Most other cars in the industry have only 700 TOPS of computing power, but our GX robotaxi achieves the world's highest 3000 TOPS. I especially want to tell everyone that this is a car facing the future, facing the new era of autonomous driving. You don't need to worry about being left behind by the times. Whether now or in the future, for years to come, this car's intelligent driving capability will be industry-leading.
This car has too many global first technologies. I hope it can represent the progress of Chinese technology. So we've spent years polishing it, pushing to the limit. Someone asked me, is it necessary to push yourself this hard? Yes. My friends and I, people like us, live to push boundaries. In this era, there are actually many people like us who like to push boundaries, aren't the smartest, but believe in the era and choose the trend. Right? We push forward bit by bit. We are on a new track, representing Chinese intelligent manufacturing. I always believe technology can push society forward one small step at a time. Technology can change the world and make it a better place. We must thank this era. XPeng GX is dedicated to all those who, like us, are working hard and pushing boundaries for themselves and for the era. This car is built for people like us. Built for the real you and your real needs. That is why I built this car. This is the XPeng GX.
