About Joseph Chang
Joseph Chang, Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Nu Skin Enterprises, has been promoting the company's Prism device and its Life Pack reformulation in multiple presentations and interviews. Yeah, they're very curious about Lumi Spa, so we're going to have some time for them to ask questions, and then you can answer the questions. So there are a lot of different brands and different types of spa in the market right now. So what's the difference between our Lumi Spa and others?

Well, I think many of you have heard about our technology that's called ageLOC. Essentially, when we started off with ageLOC several years ago and developed the technology, we discovered that it's very, very important for health and for skin beauty to affect a certain set of genes in the tissue. We call it gene expression technology. And you use the name ageLOC to describe this kind of science. What we did was, after we discovered that kind of scientific discovery, we then decided to develop a new device technology to influence in a positive way the gene expression of skin genes. So this is very important to us, to use the device to stimulate the genes to behave in the proper way. So the result of using this new Lumi Spa technology is the fact that it results in a skin renewing the skin tissue while at the same time performing deep cleansing of the skin, so that you can do both of these benefits at the same time, simultaneously.

Yes, I think at the beginning of the video, you would see how this device performs. It's very important when you look at the rotation that one part of the head is moving in the opposite direction of the other part of the head. So this sort of counter rotation, or what we call micro-pulse counter oscillating technology, that is the special technology that we discovered and were able to develop this particular device.

So the first question is from our friends in Taiwan. Yeah, they want to know what's the reason you had the idea to design this Lumi Spa?

Okay, well, when we first started off this particular life interview, we thought that the skin requires some unique cellular motion. In other words, we have to massage the skin in a special way to stimulate those genes in the skin tissue. And we did many, many studies. Our scientists did a lot of studies to show that not any movement or any mechanical motion can stimulate those genes. So we only discovered this micro-pulse counter oscillation motion. This is the only type of movement that can actually stimulate the skin genes. So for intensive purposes, we thought this is the first scientific discovery that we can actually use to make a product like this, and we will be the first company that can actually show that this device results in a clinical study, in a scientific study, we can actually show it stimulates the skin to stay young.

And how does that help with shrinking your pores? Like, wow, how would this technology help you have smoother skin?

Yes, so you can imagine, most of us don't like to have big pores on the skin. One of the things that make the pores big is because those pores become dirty. So this deep cleansing, literally this counter oscillating technology can go very deep into the pores, as shown in this video. What happens is, when it goes deep into the pores, it literally lifts all the dirt out of the pores, and once that is done, the pore becomes smaller.

It's a great question because we have actually done a study using both the Galvanic Spa and this Lumi Spa together in a scientific study, and we can show the effects or the benefits you get from the Galvanic Spa actually much better after using together with the Lumi Spa. And the Lumi Spa also, the effects or the benefits you get from the Lumi Spa become even better after Galvanic Spa treatment. So it's almost like this is a twin products. We designed this Lumi Spa product to work perfectly with the Galvanic Spa.

Yeah, I would start with the normal one because this will most likely be compatible with most people in general. But if you find after using the normal gel that it is not as comfortable for your skin, then you switch to other types of formulations that we have. I have a sensitive skin formulation, or if you prefer maybe a more potent one, we can use the other one too. So start with the normal one.
