About Bruce Caswell

President, Chief Executive Officer & Director · MAXIMUS INC

Bruce Caswell, president and CEO of Maximus, has been serving as chair of the 42nd annual Kidney Ball, a fundraiser for the National Kidney Foundation scheduled for March 16 at the Anthem in Washington, D.C. In a September 2024 interview, Caswell discussed the event and noted that the National Capital Area has one of the highest rates of kidney disease in the United States, with more than 700,000 people affected. He stated that many nonprofit organizations have struggled to return to pre-pandemic levels of philanthropic giving and said he was taking on the mission of helping the Kidney Ball return to those levels. Caswell also highlighted that only 10% of Americans with kidney disease receive a diagnosis and emphasized the importance of early detection. In earlier interviews from 2020 to 2023, Caswell outlined Maximus’s strategic focus on three pillars: the future of health, citizen services digitally enabled, and technology services. He described the company as an independent and conflict-free provider of healthcare assessments and clinical services to governments. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Caswell said Maximus rapidly scaled up by hiring 20,000 people to stand up a virtual call center operation and shifted 45% of its U.S. workforce to work from home. He also noted that the company had broken into the top 20 of federal IT contractors and intended to climb higher. Caswell has also participated in charitable events, including the Laps for Lexi fundraiser for pediatric cancer research, where he spoke as a current parent at Sandy Spring Friends School.
