“Gen Z tends to value authenticity and highly efficient user experiences; they also appear more willing to be active in planning travel and in accessing alternative investments compared with older generations.”
On , Carlo Cisco, Cofounder at SELECT, spoke about consumer behavior during One Shutdown Away from Reinventing Everything on Arcbound.
Carlo Cisco, founder and CEO of Select, has described the company as a digital membership community and concierge service that provides access to exclusive events, pricing, and perks at over 1.5 million partner locations worldwide. In recent appearances, Cisco stated that Select is "bridging the membership into financial services," including a members-only investment syndicate for private venture opportunities and a forthcoming credit card that will integrate the membership benefits. He noted that the company is "growing roughly 50% year-over-year" with "retention at record highs," and said the business "can definitely be on an IPO path if that's the direction we choose." Cisco also highlighted the development of a travel planner AI that builds multi-day itineraries in about 30 seconds, and emphasized that as a private paid membership community, Select is not subject to the pricing parity rules that dominate online travel agencies. Cisco has discussed the company's performance during the COVID-19 pandemic, stating that when "the world shut down" and "95% of what we do" closed, Select "innovated a bit, added some new benefits, hosted a lot of digital events and ultimately increased our renewal rate during the pandemic." He described the company's go-to-market strategy as using Meta as the primary paid channel, supplemented by Twitter, LinkedIn, member referrals, and partnerships with brands and communities. Cisco has also commented on the role of artificial intelligence, noting that Select built its first internal AI in 2018 to help concierges scale volume and improve quality, and that the company views AI as a way to "augment humans, not replace them."
