On , Brian Shepherd, Chief Executive Officer, President & Director at CSG SYSTEMS INTL INC, spoke about business strategy during Brian Shepherd, CSG CEO, on Simplifying Business Processes on CSG.
Brian Shepherd, CEO of CSG, has been speaking about the telecommunications industry's need to simplify business processes and shift from a "telco to techco" business model. In May 2025, he described complexity as "enemy number one" and argued that the industry has been "saturated" with less revenue growth and more pricing competition. He stated that the goal is to "take the complexity out in the business process and the business model" and that "the real revenue uplift can actually come on the enterprise side" through this transformation. At MWC Barcelona in March 2025, Shepherd promoted CSG's technology, saying he was "excited to talk to some of the biggest and best customers in the industry about how they can sell engage and monetize better using integrated CSG technology." Earlier in his career at PTC, Shepherd discussed product development and engineering software. At a 2007 PTC User World event, he described the company's focus on expanding its product lifecycle management system, including capabilities for requirements management, tolerance analysis, and ergonomics analysis in Pro/Engineer. He noted that PTC had "about 1,500 people in the development organization" and was expanding into new vertical markets such as retail, footwear, and medical devices. In 2011, he previewed a keynote at PlanetPTC Live, calling it "a fantastic product year for PTC" with the release of Windchill 10 and Creo 1.0.
