Christopher Young, Microsoft’s executive vice president of business development, strategy, and ventures, has been discussing the evolution of AI from generating responses to performing tasks on behalf of users, describing a shift toward “agentic” AI and co-pilots that can carry out work. In a January 2025 appearance, he said AI will “infuse our lives in almost everywhere we use technology” and emphasized the need for responsible AI principles, government engagement, and regulation. He also noted that Microsoft’s strategy involves long-term thinking about industry verticals and foundational investments, including in autonomous systems and nuclear energy as a clean source for data centers.
