Hello everyone, welcome. Make yourselves comfortable. I am Camilla and I am Carolina. We are preparing for the New York Gala tonight. He always says: 'I want to give back as much as possible.' We are here for a wonderful thing, so we are bringing our father Brunello's film to New York, America. The film tells his story from when he was little, from his life in the countryside, and we understand why he decided to create a company with a certain philosophy up to all his growth that led him to create this beautiful company in our town of Solomeo. I and Cami are here, preparing for our evening, and our parents are in the next room, so we will all go together to the screening tonight.
I am Brunello Cucinelli with my wife Federica. We are here for the film screening tonight. Brunello, the polite visionary. A very pleasant work made by a great master, Giuseppe Tornatore, because I wanted Giuseppe, being a poet—I think poets are the greatest human beings on earth. My dream was to make it a testimony of how my life, our life has been, to leave to our children, grandchildren, and those who will come after us. A living testimony of our work.
I remember, and for me it was truly a great emotion because knowing that our story, which I consider a true fairy tale, and seeing it in a film made me very happy, very content, also because I and Brunello met very young. I was 16 and he was 17. Of course, I never thought we would make a film of our lives. I think it is truly a beautiful experience that fills me with joy.
We knew the story, we knew it all, and let's say that more than unexpected, it was simply emotional to see it again. For me, yes, we knew the story, but perhaps seeing the part of dad when he was little, his life in the countryside, life with brothers, with cousins—this life lived very naturally, in contact with nature—was very emotional for me. This first part that he might have told us, but maybe a little less. The countryside part was done right in the house where dad grew up, so yes, very emotional this part.
New York is the first trip of my life. When I arrived the first time, I stopped on the Verrazzano Bridge and said: 'Oh God, what city is this?' It is always quite fascinating to come here, clearly for me for a few days, only because I think the place of the soul, of life, for each of us is a place—for me, for us perhaps the place of our life is only Solomeo.
