Gareth Jenson here at Bitcoin 2025. I'm joined by Chris Pavlovski from Rumble and we're going to be chatting about Rumble. It's an exciting year. You guys announced the Rumble wallet which is in development earmarked for Q3. Let's talk a little bit about why that's so important for streamers and content creators and giving them a decentralized alternative.
Yeah, thanks for having me. So, the Rumble wallet is slated to launch in Q3 in partnership with Tether. So, we're building it with their dev teams and our dev teams together. I'll take us a little bit further back because kind of our the way we kind of moved into the Bitcoin world. It actually goes back to I think 2021, 2022. 2022, early 2022 is the Bitcoin conference kind of where we are right now when YouTube shut off the lights on the main Bitcoin conference and Rumble kind of came to save the day and was streaming the conference and the only place to stream the conference and we're still not sure why YouTube shut it off, but that seems like status quo for them. But that was like kind of our first move into the Bitcoin community. A lot of the creators started coming to Rumble after that, putting a lot of trust into Rumble after that. And it wasn't until the current administration won the election in November where we said it's time to go all in. We announced the Bitcoin Treasury strategy. We approved up to $20 million in purchasing of Bitcoin. And right after Trump won the election in November and now we currently hold 210 Bitcoin. One of the few public companies that are not, you know, Bitcoin fake focused companies, but like a brand, a video platform, a cloud platform, and a public company on the NASDAQ that holds 210 Bitcoin. So, that was kind of like how we stepped into it. And then, you know, post election, we really kind of got aggressive with it. And then late December I think it was December. Yeah, last couple weeks of December, we announced the strategic investment by Tether, a $775 million investment by Tether. We closed that in February. And the first move we wanted to make was to launch the Rumble wallet, which is going to be, I believe, will be the very first big platform that's going to allow tipping, subscriptions all in Bitcoin or USD Tether or XAT through the Rumble wallet. So, we're giving creators a new way to generate revenue all around the world and a new way for the audience to tip and donate and help the creators that they love. So, we'll be bringing that in Q3 of 2025 and it will be a joint venture with Tether and I think it will be, being that we have over 50 million monthly active users mostly in the United States, I think it's going to be one of the very first major platforms to step in and take Bitcoin to the general masses that might not know much about Bitcoin at this point in time that they know a lot about gold. One of the unique stats with Rumble is over the last couple years, we sold over $800 million in gold to our audience. So they love gold. That's why we're going to add XAT there, which is Tether Gold. Yeah. I think they're all for financial freedom. They're all for freedom of expression, free speech. And it just dovetails so well. So introducing the wallet, I think we can take the wallet very mainstream.
Yeah. You're on stage today with Don Trump Jr., right? Um you guys are talking about a platform for free speech and that's very much what Rumble is in this day and age. Why is that so important? And how do you see the progression of Rumble's growth in the next five years? I mean considering you've got the investment that you have from Tether and the importance of having free speech platforms in general.
So the last five years were crazy. We watched the current president get deplatformed off Facebook, Twitter, every platform out there. The only platform to support the president, allow him to express his views and opinions was Rumble. We were the only platform that the president was on. On top of that, we helped, we're the cloud provider for Truth Social, which is his communication tool to get his message out. So free speech has been under attack relentlessly, especially over the last five years and with the previous administration. And Rumble was the bastion for holding that over that time. Donald Trump Jr. was actually one of the very first people to use Rumble during the growth phase that we had in 2021 and you know shortly thereafter I guess like half a year later we saw the president join the platform. But that doesn't, you know, now that the Trump administration is in power, it doesn't mean the rest of the world is following suit. In fact, what we're seeing around the world is getting worse and worse. Europe is going down a very very ugly path. Something that I never thought I would witness. They are violating article 19 of the universal declaration of human rights on a daily basis from the UK to all of the European Union. So it's getting worse and worse and then you see what's happening in Brazil with speech there. Rumble got shut down recently over there because they didn't like a specific creator talking about their government. Like you can't have a democracy in any way in any capacity without the ability to speak up against the government without the ability to voice your opinion. So what we're seeing around the world is quite frightening. And I think JD Vance in his speech in Europe recently really hit the nail on the head. This is a big problem because although the United States might be in a good place today, it can very quickly go in a bad place. And right now we're with an administration that does believe in that and that's very important, but that can change and the rest of the world has no interest in upholding freedom of expression and free speech. So I think we're in a very dark time around the world and whether or not the Trump administration can spread the freedom of expression around the world remains to be seen, but at least in the United States, it's on solid ground.
My last question to you, obviously, we're at Bitcoin 2025. You touched a little bit on how Rumble kind of got involved in the Bitcoin movement. How crucial do you see technology like Bitcoin in giving people individual sovereignty and freedom of money? And do you foresee that relationship going forward in kind of perpetuity?
