Steve Nugent, Mannatech's Chief Science and Health Officer, presented on health span versus lifespan and the role of glycans in healthy aging. He argued that aging begins at conception and that cellular health peaks at age 28, with decline starting in one's 20s. He cited data showing a health gap of over 12 years in Australia, nearly 12 in New Zealand, and 10.3 in Singapore, where people live longer but with chronic conditions. Nugent emphasized that dietary changes and genetics are insufficient, noting that 96% of Australians, 67% of New Zealanders, and 50% of Singaporeans fail to meet nutritional recommendations. He recommended daily glycan supplementation, specifically Mannatech's Ambrotose, citing studies showing improved glycan profiles and claiming it is the only product with third-party clinical testing. He advised starting supplementation in one's 20s, not waiting until the 50s as Stanford suggests.
Key takeaways
Nugent recommends starting glycan supplementation in your 20s, not waiting until your 50s as Stanford Medical College suggests.
Australia has a health gap of just over 12 years, New Zealand nearly 12, and Singapore 10.3 years, where people live with chronic conditions.
Nugent claims 58% of aging variables are directly related to glycosylation, making glycans a more accurate predictor of biological age than telomeres.
Mannatech's Ambrotose is the only plant-based glycan complex with third-party clinical testing, backed by 12 studies and over 150 patents.
Nugent states that 96% of Australians, 67% of New Zealanders, and 50% of Singaporeans do not meet minimum daily nutritional recommendations.
Good morning. Good morning everybody and welcome to Health, Wellness, and Dr. Nugent. This is our monthly call with our very, very favorite—I am allowed to say that—guest speaker. Dr. Nugent has tested more than 6,000 dietary supplements and has formulated more than 100. He is internationally recognized as an expert in his field and has been teaching doctors for more than 30 years. I mentioned he's our favorite speaker. He's also our most requested speaker worldwide. And I can honestly say, if they could give it to him every year, I think they would. Dr. Nugent was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, lived in Texas for more than two decades, and now resides in the sunshine state that is Florida. And he has also served his country with honor as a United States Marine, of which I know he's very proud. So good morning Dr. Nugent. Welcome to the call, and as always it is our pleasure to welcome you down under from so far away.
Yeah. Well, good morning. Good morning to you, Chenade, and good morning to everyone on the call. I know that it's great down there as it almost always is. It's pretty rare that it's not a great day down there. We are going to be talking today about the subject of health span versus lifespan. We're going to be talking about glycans for all the new guests who are on the call, to get them up to speed of why not only should you take them but the scientific evidence that says you should take them every day, and you really should start doing that in your 20s if you're smart. So we'll get to all those good points. Shall I do the share screen thing now?
