Sziasztok! Jó reggelt!
Sziasztok! Üdv a nézőknek!
Szervusz! Én is köszöntöm a nézőket. Egyébként várhatóan, ahogy a korábbi években is, megjelennek román nacionalista csoportok itt a tábor bejáratánál. A szó a stúdióé.
Most ismét kapcsolunk Tusnádfürdőre, a Tusványosi szabadegyetemre.
Például belenyúlnak-e a személyi jövedelemadó rendszerbe Magyarországon.
Itt voltunk a kormányzati 16 évben, és itt vagyunk most is.
Dömötör Csabának köszönöm szépen, a szó a stúdióé.
Áronnak köszönjük mi is.
Igen. Igen. Tehát hogy a... Igen.
14 évig a miniszterelnök úr is a rendszer része volt úgymond.
Igen, igen, igen.
A vényköteles gyógyszerek esetében.
Ne legyél demagóg, ne hozd a családi pótlék megduplázását azonban.
Igen. Még azt is várjuk. Igen.
Minden négy évente ellene szavaztak, de most sikerrel is jártak.
Ugye most a Német Zsoltot idézted...
Ez most ott szétment...
Megbicsaklott.
No, but the political mood definitely — if in Germany, the strongest EU country, there's a government that isn't friendly with that bureaucratic system and with that liberal world that Magyar Péter's people maintain friendly relations with — then we don't know what they'll say about an amendment to the election law, or about the opposition considering the president illegitimate, and the entire system's operation with this. So there are big questions. However, if they consider it illegitimate, then that means they have to withdraw from parliamentary work not just in a token way, but substantively as well, which would truly be an unprecedented situation again. I wouldn't recommend this, if anyone happens to listen to my opinion, because — much thinking — because I think that from this position that Fidesz still holds, based on polls in terms of support and how great its social mandate still is, who knows for weeks or months still, it's not a good position for the new government if it fully commits to this question, whether to assist with it, or simply be there and say that we told you, we said it in advance.
But Marian, this can't just be said in parliament. So Magyar Péter wasn't a member of parliament in the past — in fact, not even a single Tisza member was in parliament. I'm asking, then outside parliament, do they have to go door to door again, be on the ground, in the settlements? This is also an alternative, that...
Surely parliament isn't the primary arena for politics in Hungary now either. Maybe — yes, maybe it wasn't necessarily the number one arena in recent years either. Considering that the opposition in the past two years had support that, between zero and five percent total for all six factions, so obviously that was a somewhat different situation. But now the situation is that I think Fidesz's path and the right's path is fundamentally a movement-based form of existence, in which you can bring together people who might not agree with Fidesz, or didn't vote for Fidesz, but their eyes are opening and they see that direction isn't good, and therefore they can gladly join the movement, whatever it's called, whatever framework it has, because they don't need to join or be Fidesz voters to be part of this community. Maybe this doesn't even need to be announced by Fidesz, not by Orbán Viktor, because then it's too closely tied to his person, which might be attractive to a not insignificant segment of Hungarian society, but alienates those who would otherwise join this politics. But there are still so many open questions, truly, as we talk about it, we always end up at the point that not enough time has passed since the election to analyze the causes, to give a truly precise picture of what happened in the campaign, what happened in governance, what international processes and exactly how actors intervened in this period, and what we're seeing now, because we haven't seen anything like this before. So truly, at the end of the sentence I always put a question mark. I'm still there.
Orbán Viktor spoke about national resistance this week, and he said that this isn't about parties, but about a way of thinking, and about people who resist what's happening now — with the constitution, with our system, with the style they see in parliament. And I think this is a good direction from this perspective. Yes, you don't need to vote for Fidesz to disagree with how they're removing, say, the president of the republic, who is liberal and fought, for example, during the system change for free elections and for every Hungarian citizen to be a voter and eligible for election — how can they agree with excluding people from the right to run, from that right? How can they agree with removing a legitimately elected president of the republic? So these aren't, I think, about whether someone is right-wing or left-wing, but about democracy too. That's why Orbán Viktor spoke in this tone this week, because there are thinkers here from Siffer to Hakpéter, Lefodor Gábor, who aren't Fidesz members. Amnesty International — but now, to give an even stronger example, they also raised concerns about the constitutional court. Yes. So this shouldn't be done this way — there are directions, and this is truly something where the government does something that seems like an arbitrary step, and it is. And there are arguments against it, and if many people, millions, stand behind these arguments, then that's a movement. But you have to go to the countryside, knock on doors, tell everyone, hold rallies. What did Magyar Péter do? He went through the villages too.
That's right. But anyway, returning to one of your original questions, which we elegantly avoided answering — I think the digital civic circles also, if there was ever a time for them, now is the time, because during the campaign period, campaign mode filled everything, and I think the digital civic circles were also fundamentally about campaign topics. I say this from experience too. But now the time may have come for this movement-based, grassroots world, where simply people talk, create communities, discuss public life matters, their own disappointments, and circles form from that — building on existing infrastructure, this word, when I say it, I'm always proud of myself — they can create civic circles in digital form and in person. So it's not necessarily worth waiting for big politics to set the direction, or give tasks, but now the time has come for the right-wing civil community and those who can agree at certain points with this community's principles or protest points to organize themselves organically. And this is true for the entire right-wing hinterland, I think, that the time for this has come, whether by necessity or because it's an opportunity. This will be a matter of perspective as things develop.
So it seems that right-wing voters also need to be louder than they've been. And better, louder, more forcefully say what they want, because it seems that Magyar Péter didn't achieve this with his own voters — rather, he rode this social demand during the campaign, and now when they say don't appoint Polgár Judit without having spoken with us, he's forced to give in to right-wing voters. They probably need to learn to say more forcefully when they disagree with something, but still sympathize with Fidesz. And what do they agree with?
Orbán Viktor spoke about the late Kádár era, about the real system change, from the 89-90 system change, at that press conference. And now it will be the same situation. This could be the situation, because opposition groups formed then — here the MDF, Fidesz, SZDSZ, just to name the biggest ones — and the MDF didn't agree with the SZDSZ or Fidesz on very many things, but on one thing they did: that Kádár and the entire system had to go, and that's why there was a joint stand. Then these directions naturally diverged after 90, after the elections. But until then they stood together at protests, demonstrations, samizdat — so you can name many methods. Naturally the world is different now, but the nature of politics hasn't changed. Against arbitrariness, people will stand up who don't agree on every policy or tax policy issue, but on one thing, and very strongly: that what's now is bad for the country economically and politically. And we're heading in a bad direction, because what we see, this politics of arbitrariness — why couldn't there be a government in eight or twelve years that says, children, what you did then was nothing, because that also... This could be paved by what's happening now from an impunity perspective. And then I can also remove everyone. Anyway, this reminds me of the system-change-era world of comparisons. This is the nature of politics, I think, and not just one example of change — what was it customary to say about the current prime minister regarding Fidesz and the last congress, that it's like one of the last MSZP congresses? That's an incredibly false comparison, because we've already discussed at length how much we disagree with equating the Kádár system or any oppressive system with the past 16 years — that's complete nonsense. But if we take this comparison as a starting point anyway, what happened in '94? Well, then a two-thirds Fidesz government follows in four years, if we take this comparison as a basis. We accept it — well, don't accept it — but just for a moment as a thought experiment, Magyar Péter's narrative about Fidesz's assessment, then indeed in four years a Fidesz two-thirds follows, since in '94 the MSZP-SZDSZ tandem returned to power well above two-thirds. Yes, but Magyar Péter also needs to make political and other mistakes that even his own people say: thank you, this is too much.
Well yes, this is actually in the cards, seeing the Polgár Judit episode in recent days. This is a symbolic thing in this sense — it doesn't affect people's daily lives, but there are things that do. And why did 2006 happen? It happened because the king was naked. It could be seen. Gyurcsány Ferenc said what they lied about and why they wanted to stay in power then. And when did he announce it after that election? How long after did Gyurcsány Ferenc announce the austerity package? Well, a few months. Well, around August, I remember. And what month comes now? Yes. Well, I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch. Of course, as a Hungarian citizen, I don't root for austerity measures. As a Hungarian citizen, I'm forced to root for the new government's success, but it's there. But I said the budget amendment and then next year's budget — we'll see. We'll see.
There was no closing speech, or we don't know that Magyar Péter held an austerity speech within the faction, or I don't believe that this...
It would be the icing on the cake if it turned out that not only does he have a recorder, but a good speech from one of the faction meetings would leak out, which says that austerity measures are coming in the autumn. Yes. In August, Kármár András announced the first package, in October the second, the one concerning next year. Also him, although he might fail by then. And then a speech leaks, and we're where...
Yes. I think history repeats itself. But it's worth thinking about these things, but I think it's actually unnecessary. Yes. I think that if things add up — so any small symbolic thing, this seems like something, that the president of the republic wasn't consulted, this is a small thing that will be part of the bigger picture. The bigger picture will include the school start support, will include what wasn't fulfilled even though it was promised. And these add up with the style represented in parliament. Because I don't think the Tisza voters — I'm not talking about core voters, but those who voted for Tisza because they thought there would be change — and I see the comments: why is this change? It hits the opposition harder than in the past 16 years, if Fidesz had hit MSZP or any of them, right? This didn't happen — it didn't occur to Fidesz to exile Gyurcsány from politics. Siffer András spoke about this precisely, that in the recent period Fidesz was accused of making its political opponents impossible, excluding them from competition, and so on. But nothing like what the Tisza has done in two or three months happened in the past 20 years — with the president of the republic, with Orbán Viktor, with the representatives, and we could go on — even voters' rights, even during the system change, former MSZP members weren't banned from running. So they've even gotten themselves into trouble in government. But returning to Siffer András, he formulated it, I think, that Fidesz didn't cross those red lines that the Tisza is now crossing. And as for banning Orbán Viktor from future prime ministership, I always wonder when these now impressive-sounding, ear-pleasing Tisza political slogans will turn against them, given what happened. Magyar Péter essentially admitted that in a fair contest at the next election, he couldn't defeat Orbán Viktor again, because maybe he knows something, maybe he already knows those austerity measures we've been hinting at, but there definitely won't be such a big honeymoon parade for four years, that's certain. And what did he do? He took his opponent's piece off the board. If I were playing chess, I'd take the opposing team's queen immediately, and then we'd continue playing like this. So this actually projects a lack of confidence too, I think, politically. It now seems as if some all-powerful person did what the O1G voters have long been waiting for, but in reality he deprived his opponent of political competition, and in doing so admitted that maybe he couldn't defeat him next time. This is also, I think, an interesting approach — for example, Hegedű Zsolt's dance, surely when waiting lists grow, or when they restrict private healthcare again from an insurance perspective, as we saw before 2010 with public healthcare, and similar steps, inconveniences, so-called reforms — will that dance still please everyone looking back from a year from now, as much as it pleased the international press on that certain night? And with the current steps, the Tisza party's, Magyar Péter's political benefit keeps growing from removing the president, winning political battles against Fidesz, that representatives can no longer be individual candidates in the future because parliament will elect them anyway. But this is usually demagogically noted: will this make Hungarian families better off? The mood of Orbán-hating people will improve, but when they go to the store and prices change in a negative direction, or at the gas station, or when they pay the utility bills and those also change negatively, they won't necessarily be occupied with being very happy that Gulyás Gergely or Lázár János can't run in four years, but rather with how much is in their wallet.

And additionally, he banned those opposition representatives, or that party, from running, from the right to vote, which could show an alternative. Árnes can't run in the election, Mészáros Lőrinc can run in the election. And they withdrew the candidacy in their favor, and Kunhmi Ágnes resented this, that she stepped back, and Magyar Péter promised that then with moral superiority they would restart at the next election.
Yes, but how unconfident — I think that half-sentence was, when he said why he didn't see Tusnádfürdő? He wants to debate Orbán Viktor. That said everything, right? So why does he want to debate that politician whom he's banning from public life? And Tisztázula also won the election. So but why does he want to — why does he want to debate him, what would he like to debate about, before or after banning him from being prime minister again? Because he's the person who's only happy when the news is about him and the press is full of him.
Well then I'm waiting for the tips. What will be the topic today that Magyar Péter will use to draw a bit of attention to himself? Well, he's already flexing, I think. Well then I'll cut in here, because we're connecting to Tusványos. Good. Wow, that was fast.

I especially greet our international guests: Romanian guests, Polish guests, British guests, American, Israeli, Azerbaijani, Venezuelan guests. It's a great joy that they are here with us.
In nearly 40 tents, we hosted 1,000 speakers and performers over the past week. I especially thank the Romanian state organs and authorities for the extremely constructive cooperation. Thank you very much. Ladies and gentlemen, 'with it, complete' — that is this year's camp motto. We assaulted completeness this week too, and I believe we approached it on many occasions.
Thank you to all who played a role in this. But there was something — a faith in Hungary, which perhaps the prime minister will now speak about on April 12th. There is a situation, we can say, just as there is a situation in Romania too. And since last year, we've gained another war — I'm referring to the Iranian war, which is also a very important component of our current situation. But I'd like to seize this occasion to thank you for the unequivocal support that our political community received from you. This obliges us, and we strive to meet this expectation.
Two system-changing personalities will give presentations. Their personages prove that we've been in even more difficult situations before, and even then we were able to be successful. Both are deeply believing Reformed Christians. Therefore perhaps they won't take it amiss if I say that they are not people who retreat. In this situation, perhaps I'm not doing wrong if I translate for you the name Fidesz, which in Latin is Fidesz, in Hungarian: faith. Loyalty, trust — these will continue to guide our political community in the coming period. We welcome everyone who is here at Tusványos, because Tusványos is not an opposition event. Tusványos cannot be, and will never be, in opposition.
We welcome everyone who is capable of civilized dialogue. This is also true for today's event. Whoever has a question, something to add, I ask that you formulate it in writing. And with that, I first give the floor to His Excellency Bishop Tőkés László, to provide us with his analysis of the situation. Bishop,
Grace to you and peace from God. I greet the dear gathered assembly with the apostle's words. And allow me, before my prepared speech, to say a few sentences about two things.
One is wonderful news: that two Székely football teams are competing in the first league of Romanian football. Sepsi Sepsiszentgyörgy and Csíkszereda — this fills us with great pride, that in this field discrimination truly doesn't exist, and we hope there won't be any hate speech either. The other is worse news, but with a positive projection for us. The bad news is that Father Anzelm, the Premontre abbot, was evicted from Oradea, despite all our resistance. But I consider it good news that we stand united behind him and the justice of the Premontre order.
Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. President, distinguished political and ecclesiastical dignitaries, dear brothers and sisters, ladies and gentlemen — according to the data of the Reformed Church District of Transylvania, in 2024 there were 4,978 funerals. In contrast, there were only 2,095 baptisms. The more than twofold negative difference in favor of the dead is 2,883. According to the most recent 2021 census data, in Romania 4,943 people declared themselves Reformed. Since the 1989 system change, according to the statistics of censuses conducted roughly every ten years, our church membership shrinks by approximately 100,000 souls per decade. To our knowledge, a decline of roughly similar magnitude is taking place among the Roman Catholic and other historic Hungarian churches — the Lutherans and the Unitarians. Summing up our devastating data, this is how the total population of one million of the Romanian Hungarian national community, established at the last census, emerges.
The data listed testify that the Romanian Hungarian community belongs among Europe's endangered ethnic groups. In the politically correct, minority-scientific expression, Transylvania is usually described with the label 'multicultural.' This qualification has now become mere euphemism. 106 years after Trianon, looking at it in historical perspective, it can be stated that the diversity of our homeland, Transylvania, is increasingly a thing of the past. The Saxons and Swabians have emigrated in almost their entirety. Along with the Jews who survived the Holocaust, the Conducător also sold them off for hard currency. Now it's our turn, and we Hungarians of today are partly to blame. The deficit of so-called natural growth, artificial assimilation, and emigration disguised as mobility are thinning our dwindling ranks.
It is a pious tradition to pay tribute to the memory of the dead with a minute of silence. It is entirely appropriate that we also pay similar silent tribute to the hundreds of thousands of departed members of our tragically shrinking nation and our minority fellow sufferers. Let the silence also speak for the millions of our Romanian compatriots who turned their backs on their beloved homeland during the three and a half decades of the democratic system change that promised a bright future. Let us pay tribute with the silence of compassion to the missing members of our endangered national community and our Romanian brothers and sisters suffering demographic crisis, whose fate we once again commend to the attention of our country's responsible — and irresponsible — governments. And now follows the one minute of silence.
Following my introductory digression, with gratitude to God, I greet the participants of the 35th Bálványos Summer Free University and Student Camp at this fortress of the Székely autonomous territory, Tusnádfürdő. The Pro Minoritate Foundation and the Hungarian Youth Council deserve thanks for being willing to organize our prestigious, long-standing gathering even amid the current unfavorable political conditions. As co-organizers, the Transylvanian Hungarian National Council, together with the Székely National Council, also considers it timely this occasion to advocate for the territorial self-governance of Székelyland and the personal-principle autonomy of the Transylvanian Hungarians. Along with this, we urge the recognition of Transylvania, Moldavia, and Wallachia as large regions, and of Bukovina, Dobruja, Olténia, and perhaps Maramureș in the same vein, as well as the historical regions of Székelyland and Partium, with particular regard to Romania's future administrative reorganization.
With the unification of Romania and Moldova on the agenda, the question rightly arises: why does the internal self-governance of our Hungarian community count as a taboo topic in our country? On the occasion of the 35th Bálványos-Tusnádfürdő camp, we can proudly declare that the Bálványos process is as old as the democratic system change, of which it is both fruit and leaven. Among the founders, I especially greet Member of Parliament Németh Zsolt, as well as our English Social Democrat friend and supporter David Campana, who surprised us this year with his book about the beginnings of Bálványos-Tusványos, titled — I only saw it in English — The Origins of Tusványos, published by The New Institute.
Not least, we greet with exceptional joy Prime Minister Orbán Viktor here in Tusnádfürdő. Let's move on. Yes. Let's hear the word. So I greet Prime Minister Orbán Viktor with the solidarity of our youthful shared struggles. Today I was convinced that strategic calm has taken hold of him, and in this sense we can regard him. He has remained true to himself and his camp, following the April elections, and by his presence exemplifying the continuity of the Bálványos process. In 2002, we could witness a similar situation to the current one, when the first Orbán government was voted out. However, even then the Bálványos intellectual-political workshop's work did not stop, the dialogue and nation-political building did not cease, but continued and even deepened, in the direction of preparing for the future and its tasks.
I am convinced that our Tusványos camp, serving as a national community backdrop, will continue to be a living source and experimental workshop of renewal. Our campsite's magical Székelyland landscape is a fitting framework and soil for further gathering of strength. Under the current circumstances of the constitutional amendment that disregards the rules of constitutionality, the communist method is reviving — that the past must be erased. However, the good deeds and obvious results of the one-and-a-half-decade and preceding Fidesz governance can hardly and should not be ignored. Without undertaking a detailed and itemized accounting of all these, I content myself with praising the fundamentally renewed nation policy led by the government of the prime minister. Mr. Prime Minister, you definitively broke with the nation-alien communist internationalism, and restored the dignity and self-esteem of the Hungarians.
Shaking off the narrow-mindedness of 'dare to be small,' you taught us that being Hungarian is good. You embarked on the epochal work of national unification beyond borders. Through the National Solidarity Act and the enfranchisement of compatriots stranded beyond the borders, you undertook the reparation of Trianon. Who would dare with uninitiated hands to touch the national creed of the Fundamental Law, whose solid moral validity and force — here and now too — I quote: 'We promise to preserve the spiritual and spiritual unity of our nation, torn apart in the storms of the past century.' The second part of my speech concerns, in an exceptional manner, a notable anniversary: the 130th anniversary of the birth of Transylvanian Bishop Márton Áron. On this occasion, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Gyulafehérvár has proclaimed 2026 as the Márton Áron memorial year.
In his encyclical on this, Archbishop Kovács Gergely of Gyulafehérvár sets before us as an example the faith and courageous stand of Transylvania's great bishop, since he — I quote — 'remained faithful to evangelical values even in the most difficult historical times. He consistently stood up for God's people, for human dignity, and for spiritual freedom of conscience.' End of quote. It is fitting that in the succession of Kolozsvár, Gyulafehérvár, Csíkszenttamás, Bukarest, Budapest, and Rome, we also recall the memory and work of our great Transylvanian son here in Tusnádfürdő. Recalling Márton Áron's ecclesiastical governance cannot be my task on this occasion and at this place. However, on the occasion of the memorial year, it is fitting to recall his outstanding nation-political role.
With the end of the World War II, just as after the first, the question of peace treaties and the settlement of national borders again came to the agenda. The Groza government, with intimidation and bribery, won over the Hungarian People's Alliance — successor to the National Association of Hungarian Workers — so that in the name of the Transylvanian Hungarians it would itself renounce our territorial claims and give up the Hungarian aspiration for Northern Transylvania. Yielding to this, the central committee of the MNSZ — the so-called Council of the Hundred — at its November 15, 1945 session in Marosvásárhely, in the presence and with the active participation of Prime Minister Petru Groza and communist party leader Luka László, adopted a resolution in which, among other things, they declared: I quote, 'We are aware that the solution of the Transylvanian nationality question is not a border question, but a question of the strengthening of democracy, the realization of national legal equality, and the dissolution of borders.' Reke György rightly calls this resolution a 'voluntary Trianon,' since through it the alliance itself renounced the legitimate territorial claims of the Transylvanian Hungarians.
This made it possible that at the Paris peace negotiations, Romanian Foreign Minister Georgescu-Tătărăscu, citing — shall I say, brandishing — the MNSZ's position, rebuffed the Hungarian government's territorial claims, proving that the Romanian Hungarian national community was fully satisfied with its lot and grateful for the Groza government's nationality policy. Bishop Márton Áron and his like-minded friends, following the MNSZ's self-surrendering manifesto, saw the time had come for action. It was clear to them that the Hungarian People's Alliance was nothing other than the Romanian Communist Party's Hungarian-language branch office, which, with its negligible representative capacity, was not entitled to speak in the name of our entire national community. Márton Áron, then, as one of the most prestigious spiritual leaders of the Transylvanian Hungarians, stood at the head of a grouping of leading personalities who knew no compromise, which decided to draft an independent memorandum and deliver it to the Paris Peace Conference, to counterbalance the MNSZ's treasonous Marosvásárhely document. The signatories of the memorandum, as authentic representatives of our people, alongside Bishop Márton Áron, were: Bishop Vásárhelyi János of the Transylvanian Reformed Church, Szász Pál, president of the Transylvanian Economic Association, Korompai Ede, president of the Romanian Hungarian Consumer Cooperatives — the 'ant cooperatives' — as well as Lakatos István, president of the Romanian Hungarian Credit and Economic Cooperatives. The represented historic churches and organizations, with their millions or several hundred thousand members, encompassed the vast majority of our Transylvanian Hungarians, in contrast to the MNSZ's meager representative strength. On the basis of the map drawn by Venczel József, within a just and equitable territorial settlement, 135,000 Hungarians and 850,000 Romanians would have been assigned to Hungary. All of this eighty years ago. Since then, time has overtaken the conditions that then prevailed. Before anyone accuses me of revisionism, with due realism I can state that the border disputes have long since become moot. Not so in 1946, when the memorandum signatories, in an open situation, wished to influence the Paris peace-makers, with the goal of achieving a just and equitable territorial settlement. The failure of their attempt is now a historical fact. From a distance of eight decades, it is not this that can claim our interest, but rather the exemplary stand of our national community's former leading representatives for the Hungarian cause — among them Bishop Márton Áron's uncompromising public-political role in the interest and defense of his Transylvanian people. Ahead of his time, Márton Áron, the Székely nation's appointed spokesman and Transylvania's great bishop, was of the same mold as Karol Józef Wojtyła, the later John Paul II, the Polish pope, who, like him, considered the service of both nation and universal Christianity equally his vocation. He didn't even need to be pope to champion not only his own nation's cause but also the Jews deported to Nazi death camps. And against the red dictatorship, he also took the side of the Romanian Greek Catholic Church, condemned to destruction. Those astounding events — I quote Márton Áron — those astounding...
The events that happened to our Greek Catholic brothers leave no doubt that the day of confessing faith and enduring martyrdom has come for us as well. He wrote this in 1948, as if anticipating his imminent persecution and imprisonment. During the decades of the World War and the communist takeover, this spirit of bearing the cross permeated Bishop Gyula Fehérvár and continued even after his release.
Is it permissible for the Church and God's servants to engage in politics? This disarming question, introduced by communists and left-wing liberals, is still being asked today. Márton Áron's stand for his people is a living refutation of this anti-Church and anti-nation prohibition, which sought to force the Church and its servants into political quarantine. As a legacy of the godless French Revolution, internationalist communism, in the best case, confined Christ's servants within the walls of churches, and in the worst case, in prisons and camps, depriving them of their religious freedom and forbidding them from serving their people and their faithful.
Jesus says in the Sermon on the Mount that candles are not lit to be hidden under a bushel, but to be placed on a stand to give light to everyone in the house. This scripture demolishes the walls of our confinement and makes the alibi-like ideas of sects and isms about sinful politics ridiculous. Let us read from the study of Somogy Alfréd, a theologian from Upper Hungary. Márton Áron was not willing to hide his political convictions, but with his clear vision and stance, he exemplarily fulfilled Jesus's demand for his disciples today, which says: 'You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.' In this way, he became a shining torch in Transylvanian Zion.
For Sándor Makkai, the Reformed Bishop, the Transylvanian cause was not a political but a moral issue. Rising above any opportunistic party politics, our great church leaders can rightly be called moral politicians, who, obeying God's will, served their people and their country. On this firm moral foundation stood Bishop Márton Áron when he took the lead of the memorandists, accepting the extraordinary risk of his bold step. He also showed similar moral courage when, at the turn for the worse of the future fate of our Transylvanian Hungarians, he addressed a frank letter to Prime Minister Péter Groza.
At the 1946 Csíksomlyó pilgrimage, he addressed his orphaned people, a pilgrimage of 150,000 people. In his letter to the Romanian Prime Minister, in which he revealed the almost unbearable situation of the Hungarian community, he confessed the motivation for his resolute action in this way: 'God created me Hungarian. And naturally, I cannot be indifferent to the fate of my racial brothers and the course of their destiny. My priestly calling obliges me to weigh questions from a moral perspective as well.' In his Csíksomlyó speech, he spoke similarly to the multitude of his oppressed people. The bishop had to hear the great anxiety of his faithful and had to say what they did not have the freedom to say. He spoke in the authentic voice of genuine representation: 'We wish to live a life worthy of a free person and a free nation, because God has given us the right to do so. In the consciousness of our truth, we ask that our people not be crucified anew on the old cross, that is, on the old cross of the Trianon dictate by the Paris Peace Treaty.'
Brothers, ladies and gentlemen, the turning point in Márton Áron's life journey is extremely instructive. At the end of the First World War, he was discharged as a lieutenant from the 82nd Infantry Regiment in Székelyudvarhely and enrolled in the seminary in Gyulafehérvár in 1920. 'The only path I am allowed to walk. The only place where I can help my sick people,' he confessed as a soldier of Christ, exchanging the weapons of war for the weapons of God. A quarter of a century later, after the Second World War, he again had to face a state of existence in which all of God's weapons are needed against all the devil's cunning. Paul writes in the Epistle to the Ephesians. The Second World War ended, and the world stands before a new order. 'I would like to believe that the new order will be better than the old one. Unfortunately, I was mistaken,' he writes in his 1945 circular letter. From this situation, he seeks and tries to show a way out for his oppressed, orphaned people, turning God's weapons against evil. 'Despite everything, Europe, and indeed the whole world, hopes in the cross. It feels that a better future can only begin with Christ,' he writes to his disheartened faithful.
Regarding the current state of our world, Pope Francis already stated a good decade ago that the Third World War is already underway in its details and in various locations on the globe. The war in Ukraine has brought the threat of a third world conflagration close to reality. In an optimistic approach, a change in the world order could await humanity. In the current circumstances of the global crisis, the cause of Transylvania and the Hungarian nation seems to dwindle under the pressure of great power forces and geopolitical interests far exceeding ours. As during the world wars, the danger threatens again that we will collapse under the historical and political trials and intrigues surrounding us. However, whatever happens, for us, the fate and future of Transylvania is first and foremost, along with the cause of the nation. Let us follow the example and path of Márton Áron, who lived and died for Transylvania and his Székely people. Let us unite all noble and good-willed intentions. I quote him: 'Let us choose as our king the immortal king of the centuries, Christ. With the help and protection of King Christ, let us lay the foundations of a better and more just world.' May God grant that it be so.
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much, Right Reverend Bishop, for the political speech and the reflection on whether a priest can engage in politics. Here in Tusnád, this is now a tradition. With us, the priest is free to engage in politics, and the politician is free to preach. After László Tőkés's political engagement, Viktor Orbán's sermon follows.
I don't take, I don't take... Good day. Good day. I respectfully greet all of you, Bishop László Tőkés, our bishop, my friend Zsolt Német, and all of you who have honored us with your presence. We have been meeting here for 35 years. This place is special, a special place in the Hungarian universe. This camp, this place, this place of understanding. Here, a national community always faces its situation. A national community here determines what it must do. And since for our community, who are here, reality consists of at least two parts. There is a spiritual and mental reality, and there is a rational, logical reality. That is why we usually speak to you in pairs. We aspire, whether admitted or not, to form an inexhaustible pair with László Tőkés for a long time to come. Since our bishop's 75th birthday is approaching, God bless the bishop. We look forward to future occasions as well.
Friends, ladies and gentlemen, this year is a special occasion. After 16 years, I have received an invitation as an opposition politician. Our community is now once again experiencing the opposition situation and re-evaluating its role. Today, I will undertake this. But there is something that has not changed, Tusnádfürdő has not changed. This continues to be the place where Hungarians not only talk about the future but try to understand it. To understand the future, we have so far chosen the method of establishing that the situation in Hungary, when we were in government for 16 years, was easily understandable, transparent: a national Christian government, a work-based economy, a family-based society, a sovereignty-based foreign and national policy. Simple, clear, easy to overview. In recent years, however, the world situation has been complicated and difficult to understand, changing and chaotic. In previous years, the emphasis here was more on understanding the world. We wanted to figure out what the world situation implies for Hungary. We need to change this method now. Because what was an easily understandable situation at home during our governance has now become difficult to understand. What is happening in Hungary? The Hungarian situation requires analysis and understanding. Therefore, in today's speech, the emphasis returns to Hungary, or rather the Carpathian Basin. The world will only be discussed here to the extent that it is absolutely necessary. That is, what I would like to deal with here today in front of you. What is happening in Hungary? Let us understand what this unusual, even in the European context, unusual new Hungarian phenomenon is. After that, I would like to talk about what the new holders of power are doing, or rather what they are not doing in Hungary. And finally, I would like to speak to you about what we must do.
Before I dive in, I would like to thank all of you. It is always a joy to return here. If a person is in a struggle for a year, travels the world, negotiates, debates, bargains, campaigns, as my work has been, it is good if there is a place, indeed there must be a place, where you don't have to explain things that are undeniable for all of us. There must be a place where we speak the same language, not only in Hungarian, but also politically, historically, and culturally. There are evident sentences that do not need explanation here. We want Hungary to remain Hungary. I have always wanted a Christian Hungary, because only that has a future. We will not become an immigrant country, we will not become a Brussels colony. We want to unite the nation, only the country has borders, the nation does not. And I could continue this list for a long time. I thank the organizers for their work in creating this place every year. I thank the Transylvanian Hungarian Community for their hospitality, and I thank you for coming here year after year and believing that it is worthwhile to think together about the fate of the Hungarian nation in the Carpathian Basin. Thank you for being with you.
What is happening? It is difficult to grasp what is happening in Hungary. On April 13th, we woke up to a new reality, something we thought could only be a bad joke or a tasteless prank. It turned out that this is reality. The Székely wife decides to surprise her husband. New hairstyle, curled hair, clothes in Pest fashion, makeup. The man comes home, doesn't recognize her. 'No, I'm your wife.' 'Then it's fine.' This is how we are with Hungary now. Ladies and gentlemen, then it's fine. It's fine like this. It's fine like this, it's still Hungary.
We know the facts. With personalized, retroactive laws, they have excluded half of the opposition, its strongest leaders, and now our friend Zsolt as well, from politics. They have forbidden them, and us, from running in future elections. With this, my dear friends, they have abolished democracy. Because if it is not the people who decide who they vote for, but the power that decides who they can vote for, then democracy is finished. With a personalized, retroactive constitutional amendment, they removed the President of the Republic, the President of the Constitutional Court, removed the Chief Prosecutor, and thus abolished the rule of law as well. The abolition of democracy and the rule of law in Hungary today is happening for the sake of exclusive power exercise. This is a crime. It has no significance now, but it will have when we restore the rule of law, and then it will have serious significance.
When we examine what is happening in Hungary, the feeling has developed in us that we have seen this before. We search for words, analogies, comparisons. What is this? Some call it Rakosi, some call it communist, but we all feel that this is something else, more modern, but we have seen this before. Removal of public leaders, making the opposition impossible, sending armed police against those who do not support the system, say as influencers, with prosecutors under party control, they raid opposition parties. This is so familiar. Where have we seen this before?
Last week, I had unofficial talks in the United States, where we discussed Hungary alongside Europe. I shared this dilemma with them, that there is a new thing that is difficult to grasp. They laughed, it's not difficult, this exists. They know this in South America. And indeed, in South America, there is a trend that the European left has admired for decades, which is a peculiar mix of communist thinking, political tyranny, and economic oppression. It is also true that this system, this system known in South America, is being introduced in Europe for the first time. This has never happened before. Perhaps we can recognize some elements of this system in Poland, but in its entirety, we are seeing it for the first time now. After the talks with the Americans, I myself realized that Hungary is the new Venezuela. Only without oil wealth. The Americans hit the nail on the head. Similar methods, similar tools, even the timing. First, there too, here too, they removed those state officials who did not belong to Maduro's party. Today in Hungary, committees are questioning public officials in Budapest, and asking: are you a Tisza supporter? Do you love the new Prime Minister? In South America, opposition representatives were deprived of their voting rights and immunity. Criminal proceedings were initiated against them, as is happening right now in Hungary. Then they attacked the opposition parties there, harassed and banned them. They conducted searches in campaign offices, seized computers, and detained campaign workers. Then those who helped opposition candidates were also attacked, entrepreneurs and service providers, just as it is happening in Hungary today. In the next step, they intimidated the system's opponents with false charges. Tax authority proceedings, vague charges, proceedings initiated without legally clarified reasons, exclusion of legal remedies. Exactly this system is being built in Hungary now. The National Asset Protection Office is actually a new AVH. It recalls the communist system's political police. The question is only, my dear friends, where does it lead if the government, alongside or instead of the existing police and prosecution, inexplicably creates a new state authority to deal with its opponents? Where does this lead? We have only seen this from the communists and Hitler. We know what the end was.
Ladies and gentlemen, what we see in Hungary now is a radical left-wing political virus. International networks are spreading it, but until now it could not enter Hungary. And since it could not enter until now, it does not even have a decent Hungarian name yet. I am also searching for it, I am not casting my vote, but I see that in the world this phenomenon is named in several ways. It is called neo-communism, since there was a neo-conservative intellectual movement in America. Following its model, some can call what is happening in Hungary neo-communism. Then there are those who call it New Age communism. Then there are those who call it a liberal authoritarian system, some simply call it a coup d'état. I would stick for now with the words tyranny and tyrannical system. Although it is true that this is more a method and not the essence of the system, but the Hungarian language is resourceful. Sooner or later we will agree on how to call this thing from which the entire Hungarian homeland suffers today.
The fact that this thing, this new tyrannical governmental system, was created in Hungary with the support of Brussels. We had few illusions about Brussels anyway, especially since the similarity with Moscow is becoming increasingly obvious. But that it would openly support tyranny, that was something few of us thought, they would do better not to do it, because this virus could reach Western countries from Hungary and cause them serious problems too. It will be dangerous for them as well.
Well, whatever its name, ladies and gentlemen, whatever we call it in the future, one thing is certain: we must take action against it. Why must we take action against it? Not because it is another party, because it is not the KDNP and not Fidesz. We must take action against it because its operation will have serious economic consequences. I will talk about this later. But above all, we must take action against it because it is a bad system. It questions things, feelings, and truths about which there was previously a consensus. This system does not build, but destroys; it does not ennoble, but degrades. First, it makes people uncertain about what power can and cannot do. Second, it makes people uncertain about what counts as private property and what counts as public property. It does this not only on a large scale, but also on a small scale. Today in Hungary, they are attacking small and medium-sized entrepreneurs who had economic relations with local governments in the past 16 years. In fact, every player in the economy, small, large, national, and local, can be subjected to proceedings based on a single citizen's report. Third, this order that is now being built makes people uncertain about what is true and what is false. That is why there is Facebook governance. In the past, censorship worked by banning the truth. Today it works by overwhelming it. This is the essence of Facebook governance. Fourth, it makes people uncertain about what is reality and what is appearance, what is life and what is cinema. In Hungary today, many, very many, perhaps the majority of Tisza voters, are still in a kind of economic euphoria and are convinced that everything will be better. There are even those who think they can get more money with less work. They think they see reality, but they are sitting in a cinema. Those who know they are in a cinema think they are watching a documentary, but this is a fantasy.
This new tyrannical system, similar to the old communist system, creates a feeling where no one can feel safe. Especially those who did not vote for them or dare to speak out against them. Revenge governance, a typical communist method. At home, the government, or rather the Tisza government's slogan is: 'Who is not with us is against us. Who is not a Tisza supporter is an enemy.' This is how simple politics is in Hungary today. Friends, this is dangerous. It is dangerous for human coexistence, dangerous for the economy, and dangerous for peace. The end is always violence, and today this policy is directing Hungary. In summary, I can tell you that the Tisza wants to build and is beginning to build a new tyrannical system. After the removal of Fidesz, the goal is the elimination of Fidesz. The goal is to exclude our leaders from politics. With illegitimate decisions, they make the political alternative impossible. Now they want to physically make Fidesz impossible. With coercive forces, they took our servers, our membership records, our correspondence. The approximately 3.5 million people who voted for Tisza, this is an important part of Hungarian reality, still believe that tyranny will only be used against Fidesz supporters, but they are mistaken. The essence of tyranny is that power no longer recognizes its own limits. One day, the Tisza voters will also wake up to find that there is no one to protect them from the abuses of power. This new power is aggressive, violent, and abuses its strength. It does not deal with the country's affairs, but with the persecution of the opposition. It does not try to create unity, but subverts Hungary and disrupts social peace.
Ladies and gentlemen, those who voted for change in the spring, I do not believe they voted for the abuse of power. I think most of them were well-intentioned. They expected fewer government mistakes and more economic results. We must understand the voters' decision, that after a defeat, one must always look at the world with self-criticism. But unfortunately, we did not have much time for this, because now freedom is in danger in Hungary. Therefore, instead of an opposition policy based on self-criticism, we must now switch to a policy of resistance. So, instead of opposition policy, resistance policy follows, but we must confess to you, our own voters, that the prime minister who is now subverting the country came from our ranks. If there is something for which I must apologize to you, it is this: he came from among us. He came from among us, and this is true even if he always belonged to the worst part of Fidesz. Therefore, Hungary has now received a flight of dreams instead of a sober balance. Look, I always laughed at the Americans when I read that before taking office, the president is subjected to a psychological fitness test. But seeing Hungary, I don't laugh, these Americans must know something.
But we don't have to deal with the prime minister, but with Hungarian life. And I can tell you that it is not Hungarian life if decisions are made in Brussels, if its script is based on some German comedy. I'll leave a little time for you to think about whether there is such a thing as a German comedy. And it is not Hungarian life if its fate is determined in California or Poland by the Facebook algorithm tinkerers. So the question is, what must be done to find again that Hungarian living space and way of life in which we Hungarians feel at home again. In other words, what is to be done?
My dear friends, the first thing to do is to speak out against lies. We must tirelessly speak out against lies. Since there are many lies, we must endure the monotony. First, they lied that we want to leave the European Union. This is a lie, but it was a successful lie. There are successful lies, but the opposite is true. We have always believed that Hungary's place is in the European Union, but it is also true that the Union is pursuing a bad policy, destroying the European economy, and we will always speak out against Brussels pursuing a flawed policy. That is why we founded the Alliance of European Patriots. Then they also lied that we support Russian interests. Let's admit, this was also a successful lie. But the opposite is true. We have always supported Hungary's interests. We needed, and still need, cheap Russian energy, oil, and gas. This is in Hungary's interest. The other day, the 21st sanctions package was adopted, which permanently banned Russian energy sources from Europe. The Hungarian government should have vetoed this, as I did every time, not in the interest of the Russians, but to protect Hungary's interest. Similarly, we must make it clear that NATO is vital, but NATO is a defense alliance. There is no compromise on issues within NATO territory. It is a common defense alliance, but in the case of wars outside NATO territory, we have the right to neutrality, and we want to remain neutral in military conflicts outside NATO territory. This neutrality has now been given up, and Hungary has joined a pro-Ukrainian, anti-Russian European war coalition. With this, my dear friends, this is not child's play, it is a very serious matter. With this, in the event of an escalation of the war, which is obviously imminent for all of us, they have made Hungary a target, a military target, or at least a potential military target. It was a capital mistake to give up Hungary's neutrality.
Then they also lied that Fidesz protects pedophiles. This is the Zsolt bácsi case, if you remember. It was a successful lie, but it has now come to light that the Tisza party, and even the prime minister's brother, gave millions of forints to the person who made the false accusations. They also lied that the President of the Republic, Tamás Sólyom, was a Fidesz puppet, while the reality is that he was Hungary's first civilian president. The first president who had no party affiliation. Árpád Göncz was SZDSZ. Mátyás Ferenc was MDF, and also Fidesz. László Sólyom was an MDF board member. I won't talk about János Áder, who was obviously an old fighter of Fidesz. Katalin Novák was my minister. Pál Schmitt was a vice president of Fidesz. The first president who had no party affiliation, but was a civilian, was Tamás Sólyom. It is a lie that he was a puppet of any party. Ladies and gentlemen!
So, our first task is to systematically and persistently stand up against lies. We cannot allow power to lie to people without consequences. It is also true that we must learn the digital combat method against lies. Our second task, ladies and gentlemen, is to tell people the truth about the threatening economic situation. I did this during the campaign as well, with little success. I said, difficult times are coming, don't change. Our opponent said that the dangers are only invented by Fidesz. Change, send the government away. And then it will be better, much better. And people, at least three and a half million of them, believed them. We can no longer change this. Therefore, we should not continue the debates of the past. The question is not who was right. Whatever happened, we must now deal with the present and the future honestly and seriously. So the situation is, ladies and gentlemen, that in Hungary there has been no economic governance for months. There is Facebook governance, there is cinema, and there is deception. And the economy is suffering: there is trouble in agriculture. The construction industry has stopped. The strong forint is good for those vacationing abroad, but it destroys export-oriented businesses that do not receive help or compensation, which they should to preserve jobs. And it is possible to give such help from the tax or credit side, but we see no trace of it. While the trouble, the economic trouble, is knocking at the door, the government is talking about introducing the euro. I would like you to know that this is a fairy tale. The euro is actually a code name, a cipher, the code of austerity. That is why speculators, banks, and financial people support it. When the austerity measures come in the autumn, they will refer to this euro. Here again, they are lying to people. If this happens, and there is still no economic governance, and the troubles hit, then as it usually happens, sooner or later the foreigners will knock on the door, and they will say that we have a solution proposal, and then the Hungarian government will be cornered, and it can happen. May God help us to avoid this. But it can happen, Hungary's fifth plunder. Hungary has been plundered four times so far. I don't need to mention Trianon, the reparations after the Second World War. We didn't learn about this in school, but we had to pay heavy reparations to the Soviets. Then they plundered us under the first government during the first privatization, then the remaining state assets were privatized, and they plundered us between 2002 and 2010. Hungary between 2010 and 2026 took back what it could recover, banks, the energy sector, and we have it again because we doubled the national wealth. The foreign exchange reserves are at unprecedented heights. And the gold reserves have been multiplied 33 times. There is something to lose again, there is something to take from Hungary again. There is a reason to come again, a reason to plunder Hungary again. And if someone walks in Budapest today and knows the faces of the players in international financial life, they will not be surprised at how many consultants, advisors. At the National Bank president's office, a foreign major bank president is visiting. As they say, they smell blood. There will be trouble here. There may be financial chaos. Everything will drop in price. It is possible to buy cheap again in Hungary. If we don't pay attention, if economic governance doesn't start, if we don't prevent this, then Hungary's fifth plunder can happen.
Ladies and gentlemen! The young people are also being deceived here. They have made the young people believe that everything called European and Brussels-related is good. If it is European, then the green transition is also good. But we know that in reality it is a tragedy. If it is European, then the EU energy policy is also good. But we see that it is destroying us. They have made them believe that if it is European, if it is EU, then the sanctions policy is also good. But it is obvious that we are losing out. If foreign policy is European Union, then it can only be good. But we see that it leads to war. If economic policy is Brussels-related, then it is necessarily good, because we get money and we will develop. They made people believe such simple things. It was easy to make the young people believe, because they have not yet seen a government in Hungary that pursued a Brussels economic policy and failed. They only saw a successful national economic policy that differed from the Brussels economic policy in the past 16 years. That is why it was easy to make them believe that there is something better than the national one, because if it is European, it can only be successful. Ladies and gentlemen! Hungarian young people will now experience for the first time that an economic policy following a European path is dangerous, and in the worst case, can even destroy us. We saw this before 2010, but for a newborn, every joke is new. Ladies and gentlemen! And in the autumn, the government must admit the truth about the energy, oil, and gas situation as well. For months, they should have been working to prepare the country, to avert and mitigate the energy crisis threatening the Hungarian economy. Instead, they are pushing that everything will be fine, just propaganda. And people believe it, they want to believe it. Who wouldn't want it to be better, much better, but the reality is alarming. 18% of the world's oil supply has been cut off. Today, energy prices are being kept far below market value with enormous efforts worldwide. This is happening because the United States is releasing strategic oil reserves. What is missing from Iran is coming from here. But these reserves are running out dangerously. This situation, this policy is unsustainable. The whole world is preparing, except Hungary, for the moment of the final judgment, and prices can no longer be kept down, and this can have serious consequences, usually inflationary. So, ladies and gentlemen, besides telling the truth about the state of the economy, what else must we do in Hungary? In debates, we must defend the past 16, and indeed the past 36 years. The national governance was confirmed four times with a two-thirds majority by the voters. In fact, there would be nothing to debate about the 12 years from 2010 to 2022, because the voters confirmed, supported, and strengthened what we did with a two-thirds majority every four years. The only problem was with the last four years, for which they said no, but they did not say no to the 16 years. They said yes four times to the 12 years, and once no to the last four years. Ladies and gentlemen, we must be proud of our past 16 years. We must repel the Tisza's frivolous accusations and state calmly. Calmly, and with due seriousness, but firmly. It is a historical fact that the Hungarian right did the most and worked the most for Hungary, for the Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin, and for the Hungarians in Transylvania.
We must be proud of our past 16 years.
It was our community that carried out the regime change. We dismantled the communist system. We restored the honor of work. We created one million jobs. We placed the cause of family formation and home creation above all else. We protected Hungarians from the plundering of foreign big capital. We protected Hungary from the mass of migrants. We protected Hungary from being dragged into war. And we created Europe's safest country. Hungary could always count on our community. And we should be proud of this.
There are questions. Others also did things for Hungary. We cannot deny this, and we don't have to deny it. Indeed, there were those who did quite a lot, but we did the most. Whoever wants to catch up with us in this competition still has a lot of work to do. So let us be proud, dear friends. If we are done with this, if we are done with this, then the next task is to stand up for each other. It is important that no one should feel alone. It is true that we cannot help everyone, we cannot solve everyone's current difficult situation, because we don't have the power or enough strength for that. We help those we can, and we will always stand by everyone. We will not leave anyone alone, and when democracy is restored, we will give full compensation to the victims and those who have suffered damage.
And finally, our most important task, ladies and gentlemen, our most important task is to stand up against the new tyranny. Let us say no to it, stand up for freedom, build the broadest possible resistance, create the broadest possible unity for freedom. We must defend Hungary, because we cannot be, to our shame, Europe's banana republic. We are the ones who have already done this, who have already lived under a tyrannical system. After all, we come from illegality. I myself was taken in by police officers under a tyrannical system. We know what to do in such times.
We must understand that in this situation, Fidesz also has to do something completely new. It has to do something entirely different from what we have done over the past 16 years. Of course, the parliamentary group has to carry out its traditional tasks, traditional political work in parliament. Under the leadership of János Bóka, they must prove that our political community is capable at any moment of fielding a government of a higher standard for Hungary's interests. But this, this traditional political work, this is not enough. This is not what Fidesz should be doing; that is the job of the parliamentary group. Fidesz must do something entirely different.
We, although we are a political party, must now carry out the task of not dealing with power, not dealing with questions of power. Fidesz's task today is to serve and support the national resistance. The goal of the national resistance is the restoration of freedom. And freedom is not a party question, nor is it even a question of left or right. Fidesz must now draw the widest possible arc, where every freedom-loving person can fit. Therefore, Fidesz must now operate not as a party, but as a service center, as an incubator, if you will, as a nursery. Fidesz must not strengthen itself, but must help groups and organizations of freedom-loving people. We must help so that the number of freedom-loving people who bravely stand up for freedom can grow; that is the goal. For Fidesz now, it is not power, but freedom. We have done this once before, we know how. Don't forget, in April, 57% of the Hungarian people voted for Tisza, and 47% against it. 53-47. And believe me, you will see, this ratio will turn around, and the supporters of freedom will be in the majority, and this will happen sooner than we think.
Because this Tisza tyranny has no economic foundations. The movie is ending, reality is coming. A tyrannical system, if it lacks economic foundations, could perhaps even create them with good policy. But ladies and gentlemen, I see that they lack the ability and talent to create the economic foundations that the tyranny is currently missing. For a moment, remember the Kádár regime. Many people resigned themselves to it, or at least lived with the tyranny. I won't say they accepted it, but they tolerated the communist system, as long as the economy was doing well, as long as the economic wagon was rolling. But as soon as the economic foundation slipped out from under the tyrannical system, the whole edifice collapsed with surprising speed. There were very few of us in Hungary who, in 1988, would have said that in two years this tyranny would be over, and it was over. This is because, dear Băile Tușnad, Hungarians are a freedom-loving people. Even if they accept constraints, even if they sometimes resign themselves to tyranny, they always demand its price. They are a smart people; they collect this price, and it must be paid, if there is anything to pay it from. But the truth is that today, not only in Hungary, but throughout Europe, the situation is that there is nothing to pay it from.
So, call it whatever you like, neo-communism, new age communism, authoritarian liberalism, or tyranny, or a coup d'état. This tyrannical system has no future in Hungary. It is a transient phenomenon that will cease to exist, it will evaporate, it will get out of here, it will disappear from our lives. And this is not only the case in Hungary. This is the case everywhere, throughout Europe. The only question is when this will become clear. To quote the old Kádár-era joke, we know what will happen. The only question is what will happen until then, when the unsustainability of the situation becomes clear.
So I can tell you that it will be on the first day after the 133 days. This is expected sometime in the fall. Do the math. And as the 133 days pass and the 134th begins, watch as the resistance grows day by day, and the camp of freedom grows. The nature of politics, at least in Hungary, is that whoever brought the anti-freedom policy will also take it away. This will be the case with Tisza as well. Whoever brought it will also take it away. It is not our job to drain it, nor will we. Our job is to stand by our two and a half million voters, who have always stood by us, and whom we have always stood by.
But it is also true that this two and a half million, which in any European country would be considered fantastic at around 40% of the vote, in Hungary, however, means a serious defeat. But the truth is that this two and a half million voters is not enough for a majority. The hundreds of thousands needed for the majority will actually be brought by the political waves created by reality. The economic troubles and economic difficulties. And when people wake up, they will realize, oh my, this is not the horse I wanted. And when this happens, the two and a half million and those who didn't want this kind of horse will together form the new broad coalition of freedom, and there will be a majority for the restoration of freedom and democracy.
How much time is left? Shorten it. Two minutes. Since the Hungarian April 2002 election, more than 30 parliamentary elections have been held in the European Union. Thirty. In only four cases did the government stay in power. Four out of thirty. We don't underestimate anyone. Cyprus, Malta. In all other major European countries, there was a change of government. This is especially true in our region. Think about it, we are full of returnees. In Slovakia, Fico is a returnee. Babiš just returned in the Czech Republic. Slovenia's prime minister is called Janez Janša. He just returned. The Poles will turn next year and come back. And I don't see how the Austrians could stop the return of Vice-Chancellor Kickl. We have nothing else to do but to join this European process. The train is coming; we just have to be at the station at the right moment with a valid ticket.
So, dear friends, our task today, to summarize in conclusion, is to learn from our mistakes. To proudly stand by our achievements. To strengthen the national resistance. To help freedom-loving people. To stand up for those who raise their voices. And to guarantee to the people that what the upcoming austerity measures take from them will be given back by a new, calm, composed civic government. Dense times are coming, and we will fight. God above us all, Hungary above all. Go Hungary! Go Hungarians!
How many minutes of fog was there? 40. Thank you very much, Mr. Prime Minister. Ladies and gentlemen, there are still questions. I would like to ask for a little attention. We thank the Bishop and the Prime Minister, and I ask the President to take a pen and write down the questions. We would be interested in your opinion on the Parajd salt mine catastrophe, what could or should be done by the new government and the Hungarian people. What can we do to stop and reverse the increasingly intense student emigration from Transylvania and Hungary? Will the Csángós receive the support they have received so far? These are Transylvanian-related questions. A bit of Hungarian domestic politics: Mr. Prime Minister, why did you not take up your mandate? And how does this decision affect the future of Fidesz? If Tisza introduces a series of disadvantageous measures for migrant, gender representatives, is it possible to come back from this? Is there a way back? What message do you have for Péter Magyar? How does the Hungarian people endure the disparagement of Fidesz? What is your opinion on this? And also a bit of domestic politics. What way do you see to prevent valuable people from being harassed? A couple of international questions. Will the European Union exist in 25 years? Would you perhaps take Ursula's place if the situation arose? Well. Is there a risk that the war will spill over into neighboring countries? How do you see the future of the V4? And during the recent US visit, did you meet with Trump? Can we count on US help in protecting human rights? A question from the youth. What message do you have for the youth? There are still a few of us, but fewer and fewer. Do you have a strategy for us? A 19-year-old high school student asks this. What can you say to the university youth who want to meaningfully engage in politics for the nation? Mónus Benjamin, the president of the Future-Building Youth organization, asks this. Sport cannot be left out either. What message do you have for FK Csíkszereda and its fans, and for Sepsi OSK regarding the future? What is your view? How will youth sports develop? What will happen to the academies? And a couple of personal inquiries. Which is your favorite Transylvanian beer, Mr. Prime Minister? What book would you recommend to readers in this situation, in the new situation? Perhaps an old book could also be mentioned. Personally, how do you cope with all the slander? Babi asks. And finally, a couple of comments. The flood does not feed the Tisza.
Does the Prime Minister know that he is the eternal Prime Minister of the Székelys? When can we invite him? For a beer and a common photo? Mr. Orbán. People from Kézdivásárhely are asking. Is it suspicious, Tamás Sándor? We thank you for the Lombik Baby program and our two beautiful children, Áron and Bóra. They are here too. Well, at the end, they would like a photo. Mr. Prime Minister, we welcome you to Transylvania. We wish you strength, perseverance, and health for solving the current situation. We wish you inner peace, strength for your perseverance, we look to you as an example for your erudition, a Székelyföld teacher. Esteemed Prime Minister, we wish you very good health. Never give up your wonderful goals, and we will never, ever waver in our support. With sincere esteem, Zsolt Vazekas from Székelyudvarhely. God bless you, Mr. Prime Minister, thank you for what you have done for us, that you exist, Mr. Prime Minister. And finally, esteemed Viktor Orbán, the eternal Prime Minister of the nation. Despite all the vile attacks, remain strong, persevere. We Székelys have always been with you, are with you, and will remain with you. The nation survived the Tatar invasion, and it will survive the bedbug invasion too, because we have God. And if God is with us, who can be against us? Go Hungary! Sándor Bokor from Parajd!
László, did you want to say something? Do you want something? No, no, it's fine, I'm sure it's nice. I'll keep the Bishop waiting a bit. Here you go. Perhaps I'll throw a question to the Bishop, since he spoke about Márton Áron here, and I think he could say a few words about the 100th anniversary of the Erdélyi Helikon, as this is also a great celebration of ours. We opened the Erdélyi Helikon exhibition in Sepsiszentgyörgy on our day. Thank you for the great discourse on Márton Áron. We really needed it. Bishop. Erdélyi Helikon 100.
My friend Zsolt Németh wants to give the floor.
In the meantime, I got distracted, instead of concentrating, having ceded the heavy lifting of the message to the Prime Minister, regarding the student loans, a question concerned student emigration. Well, when writing my speech, I thought about whether to ask the audience to stand for a minute of silence on this, or not. In the end, avoiding theatricality, we did not stand up, but we would have had every reason to. And closer to the microphone. In my view, this circle of concepts, this phenomenon, belongs to the circle of phenomena I outlined at the beginning: the question of student emigration. Imagine that there are bus services along the border, and even minibus services taking our students from our majority-Hungarian settlements across the border to school. There are even cases of elementary school students, but a large number of primary school students cross over to schools across the border, and we have to watch this phenomenon with a helpless, bitter heart. Its background and causes are very complex, and I won't even begin to analyze it. I would say one or two things about such phenomena in general, like student emigration or general emigration. One is that we must take up the fight against these. I read Bishop Vilmos Kolumbán's episcopal report, and I liked that, excuse me for making this so personal, but I liked that he calls things by their name and calls things what they should be called, without embellishment. Very few people dare to raise their voices against emigration or the identity-destroying assimilation. No, no, we don't dare. We consider emigration a human right, for example, or we call it mobility, and things like that. I learned in my childhood and youth that bad is bad. Well, emigration is not a viable alternative for someone who loves their homeland, their country. Here, of course, I am speaking in very general terms, because there are special cases and circumstances, but on the whole, we should hold a referendum among Transylvanian Hungarians: to go or to stay. Well, if we go, if we leave, then let's not boast about it. To put it in plain, common language, then let's not preach or lecture, but let's acknowledge that we are leaving, going out into the world. So I think we need to develop a public opinion that bravely stands up for our values, for example, patriotism or rootedness, which is one of the main pillars of national identity, our national identity. And I see how difficult it is nowadays to call yes yes and no no. It is very, very difficult to preach anymore, and very difficult to speak politically. For example, they even attacked the bedbugs in the Prime Minister's case, and I clearly sensed that one should not wiretap one's wife. That's what this story was about, right? And so, let's not mince words, but let's reject student emigration. But I say this is a very general statement, because we naturally support postgraduate education, for example, which represents a great enrichment for the homeland and our national community through the returning youth. To this, I would add this word. The Erdélyi Helikon reminds me of when, several years ago, together with Father Öjte and perhaps Hunor Kelemen, we inaugurated the recovered Marosvécs castle. Yes. It was an uplifting moment in our recent Transylvanian past, and let it be said to the credit of the Kemény grandchildren, what serious work they did in the legacy of the generation of János Kemény and Károly Kós. We grew up in that Transylvanian spirit, which sprouted there in the form of modern Transylvanism. We cling to our Transylvanian existence, to our Transylvanian-type autonomy. The motherland, we know, after the Compromise, had little sense for Transylvanianness. Moreover, it even taught the most extreme foreignness during the four years when the Hungarian administration returned to Northern Transylvania. Our brothers and sisters in Hungary, I mean the territory of Little Hungary, our Little Hungarian brothers and sisters very hardly understood the Transylvanian spirit, and our aspirations for autonomy and freedom arising from our Transylvanian existence and reality. Even Kazinczy had to discover Transylvania, as the writer of the Transylvanian letters, and Petőfi, as the writer of the letters from Eddé, marveled at its reality, beauty, and truth. And this kind of Transylvanianness is already, so to speak, a microcosmic part of globalism. We are also globalizing. I would very much like us not to break away from our Transylvanian roots, but this also leads back to emigration. Let no one ask God, do not let Transylvania perish, our God, who himself allows Transylvania to perish. With this thought, I greet the entire audience and thank you, Mr. President.
Thank you. Time has flown, so I will answer briefly here. Please see not rudeness, but reasonableness in this. There is a group of questions about what can be done regarding Parajd, the salt mine, student emigration, support for the Csángós, and sports organizations. We must also accept that we are not in government. The financial tools are not in our hands, but in the hands of the government. Therefore, for the sake of the Csángós, the people of Parajd, the students, and the sports organizations, we do the most by taking back the motherland as soon as possible and putting it back on the path of national governance, so that we can help again. As for messages to any Hungarian politician, I am not sending any message, but I will give the reason why I did not take up my mandate. I did not take it up because I developed the doubt whether one can still speak meaningfully in parliament, or only endure what happens there. And I thought there are younger people here than me who would endure it better. Let them sit there instead. I will do the work they couldn't do. This great, broad freedom coalition, the movement of national resistance. That is what I need to deal with. And I thank my comrades for suffering in parliament in my place.
As for the question concerning Péter Szijjártó, I can tell you that Péter Szijjártó was and will remain for a long time Europe's best foreign minister. It is also true that this position, namely the Hungarian foreign minister position, is not vacant. There is a foreign minister today, but he is in a different category. Let's admit that. And the fact that Péter left for the huge global company called BYD happened explicitly at my request, perhaps that's an exaggeration, but explicitly with my support. There is also a lie here, because in the current Hungarian government there are those who were sent from foreign companies, say from Shell, but what a difference it makes whether you go from the government to there, or you come from them here. Let's not confuse this. And I am sure that serious tasks await Péter Szijjártó in the future. He will do a great deal for Hungary, for Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin, and for Hungarians in Transylvania as well. Since he went to an economic company, he will probably be able to solve larger areas than just that small, narrow foreign policy, because now in economic policy as well, he has become perhaps the highest-ranked corporate manager in Hungary. So we wish you success, Péter, learn a lot, build many relationships, and we await your return.
Disparagement, harassment of valuable people. Well, the more they harass someone among us, the more they become a hero. So, for example, there is the case of János Hajdú, who was the commander of the counter-terrorism unit. There are very few countries in the world where, in the past 16 years, not a single terrorist act has occurred. Hungary is such a country. He is the man we have to thank for this. He is our hero. Our hero general, who stopped, or rather led, carried out the operational action that stopped the Russian black, excuse me, Ukrainian black money, gold shipments, and such things that had swelled to unbearable levels passing through Hungary. For this, in any decent country, he would be decorated, recognized, and celebrated as a hero. What are they doing to him today? He is under investigation. Do you know why he is under investigation? Because allegedly these money couriers, who were trained and held high Ukrainian military ranks, were held by him for an hour and a half longer than permitted. That is his crime. While we are talking about a Hungarian hero, the same is happening with the cultural fund, with Balázs Hankó. They are not harassing these people. They are just making heroes out of them right now. Maybe they didn't sign up for this. And if they could have, they wouldn't have chosen this, and it is certainly painful and difficult. But in them, we must not see harassed people, but our heroes. We must see Hungary's future leaders in them. The more they are harassed, the higher they will rise in the future.
Will the European Union exist in 25 years? No. Would I take von der Leyen's place? No, that must be abolished. So, so today that is not the problem. So today the problem is not that von der Leyen is doing a bad job as Commission President. That happens. The problem is that the Commission, whose original role in the entire European Union was supposed to be this big, is now this big. We don't need to take over the Commission; we need to occupy Brussels with the patriots. The European Union must be reformed, and the Commission's unlimited power must be cut back. That's what needs to be done. Not to sit in that chair, but to cut it back and shrink it, as it originally was. Until the former Luxembourg Prime Minister, Mr. Juncker, occupied that seat and announced that instead of the Commission, which had until then done legal coordination work as the guardian of the treaties, it would become a political body and do political work. That's where the troubles began, in 2015. So we don't need to occupy that seat. We need to occupy the entire Brussels institutional system with the patriots, and restore the old balance that existed between the member states and common affairs, because today this has been upset to the detriment of the member states and to the benefit of the Brussels bureaucrats. Why won't the European Union exist in 25 years? Because I see that at this moment, the Union as it is, is unviable. It is still our living space, we have to be here, but it is unviable, it cannot renew itself. And every international organization, not just the Union, every known international organization that cannot renew itself in the coming years will disappear or transform beyond recognition. The English century is over; we are entering a world dominated by Asia. Everything that was valid before is invalid. Everything that was proportionate before is now disproportionate. Everything that created balance before now creates imbalance. Every international organization must be changed. There are big debates about this. I won't bore you with this now. And whoever cannot adapt will disappear. And the European Union at this moment, as I see it, cannot adapt. I don't wish for it to disappear. I wish for it to be able to adapt. In this, Hungary should play a role. As a result of adaptation, we should come out well, we should be the winners. But if we look at this European Union honestly today and speak honestly about it, it seems it cannot reform itself, so I don't predict a great future for it in this form.
I still have to say one sentence about the youth issue. The post-election analyses, which of course always contain some uncertainty, show that among those over 40, we narrowly won the election, by 2-3%. Among those under 40, we lost heavily. Among those under 40, we see that roughly, let's say, about 19% of young people voted for us, and 75% voted against us. Therefore, Hungary's future today is in the hands of the young. If the young people tolerate and allow this tyrannical system, it will remain. But I don't know Hungarian youth to be like that. Maybe they wanted something better than what we were, but it's only a matter of time before they realize they were sold a bill of goods, and they will be the first to say so in their own blunt style. Whoever brought the Tisza will also take it away. Whoever flooded it will also drain it. A historic task awaits Hungarian youth.
And here I must also clear up a misunderstanding, although perhaps this takes us too deep into the witches' kitchen of politics. And please, I ask you to set aside your personal feelings towards us, because I think you still do love us, and we love you back. Okay, okay, this is a great love, but that's not what this is about now, but rather that at home, not everyone feels this way. And I would like to remind everyone, it was a long time ago, perhaps the contours of this memory have faded. In 2010, so many Hungarians did not call us back because they had grown to love us, but because they needed us. In 2010, Hungary was in such big trouble with foreign currency loans, you may remember, 12% unemployment. Even left-wing people voted for Fidesz, because they thought we needed a capable governing force, because there was trouble, they needed us. I don't believe that those who voted for Tisza in their youth would suddenly come back to Fidesz because they grow to love us, because we become appealing to them. So they see us as old, tired, and boring. No, they won't. But there are times when old age, tiredness, and boredom are virtues. When there is upheaval, when there is chaos, when there is trouble, then experience, composure, calm, and knowledge are needed. It appreciates in value. We will appreciate in value, if God wills it.
And of course, I hear those who say, okay, when the time comes, because the economic chaos demands it, there will need to be a new government, then they won't think to find it in Fidesz. I only say this: then where? Hungary is a country of 10 million; it doesn't have eight possible governments. Current experience shows that there has only ever been one. Those who are trying now and failing, there is no third, fourth, or fifth; there is only what exists, what has experience, what is fact, what has been, what has already proven itself, what you can love or not love, but if you need it, you have to take it out. That's why János Bóka must lead the parliamentary group well, so that the Hungarian people always see that we can be taken out at any time if needed.
With regard to the answer to the question about beer, given that the camp has a sponsor from Sopron, I always like the beer the most that supports the camp with the largest amount.
And then there was another group of questions about the personal slander and about how I am. Well, I've been better. I wasn't well then either. So the question is not how we are, dear friends. The question is how we relate to how we are. This is a question of spiritual strength. Of course, we are not well. We would most like to just lament. If the question is what our basic mood is, then it is pain. If the question is what we feel, then we feel sorry for our homeland. If the question is what we feel when we see them dismantling everything that was good. Family-based society, work-based economy, sovereignty-based foreign policy, and something is coming in its place that will be much worse. Then what should one do? Rejoice, be well? Well, one cannot be well. Lamenting is not the question, whether we feel sorry for our homeland, whether it hurts that they are dismantling what we built. The question is how we relate to the fact that this is the situation. Well, I suggest we relate to it strongly, relate to it well. This is how it is now. And we cannot change that tomorrow morning. We have to fight to change it. And we will change it, if instead of lamenting we work, if we do the job, if Fidesz understands, I say again, that we must build the broad coalition of freedom. Fidesz should not think about itself. It doesn't matter what happens to Fidesz. And to the KDNP as well. Sorry, Zsolt, the question is what happens to the homeland, and the question is how we can best serve it so that our homeland finds its way back to the path that gives a happy life. This is the mission of Fidesz. Humility. Service, to serve and help freedom-loving people, who will soon be in the majority in Hungary. What will happen with power, what kind of government there will be, how we'll put it together, how we'll laugh at the prohibitions with which they barred us from the prime ministership, from being representatives. That is not interesting. It is not interesting. They were created with means outside the rule of law. We will remove these barriers without any trouble. We have no intellectual or legal problem.
If they had chosen methods where they removed us with rule-of-law, democratic means, then we might have doubts now. But they chose means outside the rule of law. A coup d'état, a crime. Well, we will not tolerate it; we will reverse it. These barriers do not exist; they are temporary; we will step over them. And Hungary will again have a great and strong national government. We must not lament, but believe and work. That is why.
Ladies and gentlemen, this was the 35th Tusványos, the Tőkés-Orbán concert. I also received a question, ladies and gentlemen: will there be a Tusványos next year? That's how the question goes. I can tell you that you can see that there is no reason for despair, but there is for re-planning and renewal. And in this, Tusványos will play its part. I see that now, those who didn't have to come, didn't come, but you, who wanted to come this year, are all here, and this is an extremely good start. So my answer is clearly yes. In fact, I can say something more concrete: write July 20-25, 2027 in your calendars. Thank you very much for being with us. Thank you.
Thank you. It's true, we didn't have a full house. To another camera. And here we are again. You saw the speeches of Zsolt Németh, László Tőkés, and Viktor Orbán at the 35th Bálványos Summer University. We watched the speeches with the gentlemen. Kacsó, Dániel Pinrok, Tamás. Tomi, you took a lot of notes; it seems many thoughts were important to you.
Hungary is the new Venezuela, just without the oil wealth, and there were several other sentences that I think will be used not only by the media, but also by many analysts and politicians in the coming period. How do you see the speech? We tried to decipher beforehand what it would be about, what this renewal would be, but it seems Viktor Orbán was trying to answer that.
Yes, the geopolitical characterization was missing. Well, it was short, let's say. Yes, the part was shorter than usual. He focused on domestic politics. And I think one of the strongest sentences is the one you mentioned, and the other is that what is happening in Hungary today is a crime. And I think this should be the starting point for the future. And the national resistance he announced, which is not about Fidesz, but about a national movement against tyranny. And there really was a lot about many things, but these are the essential questions, and I think this is what will go down in political history. These sentences, this is the starting point. I think everyone should understand this as: the voters breaking away from Tisza, because economically there is no program, or there is no economic governance along which the government is moving. And the economic problems will go hand in hand, which we also talked about in the introduction. Things build on each other, so the Tisza voter will also discover this. Soon, when they...
...
It's also about their skin in the game. And actually, this is how it can be summarized. This is how there will be a national resistance against what is happening here in Hungary. For Fidesz, this is obviously a nightmare, and I think for the regime-change generation as well, because the government used illegal tools according to Fidesz, according to the Fidesz president, according to a regime-changer who was also insulted in the Kádár system. And this generation was insulted, and now they are discovering the same signs in this operation. So, I think this was a tough speech, a substantial speech, a speech with a domestic political tone, a speech that roused the right side, and I deliberately don't say Fidesz.
Uh-huh. Let's say yes, he said that opposition politics must be replaced by resistance politics. I'll be curious to see what this means in everyday life. However, as he emphasized, Fidesz provides space, helps, it doesn't dictate.
That's right. There were a few self-critical sentences, but indeed there wasn't much time to dissect the causes and precedents of the defeat itself. Now, the Prime Minister, if I understood correctly, the perhaps most emotional and most self-identifying part of the speech was at the very end, when answering questions, he summarized some earlier thoughts a bit more passionately, namely that all this is not about Fidesz or just the right side, but about the struggle for the homeland. So he summarized the essence of the Orbán, right-wing, conservative, sovereigntist identity again, what it is about. In this context, the policy that he, according to this, continues to embrace. So the question is whether there will be a right side in the coming period with or without Viktor Orbán, I think in the near future, it has definitely been decided. So we saw a mission-conscious politician who does not give up his struggles, who will have a great impact on his own camp with this speech. This speech was needed at this moment, but at the same time he was honest about the current situation, in the sense that this is a truly not simple state in which Fidesz is now, but at the same time he did not leave it at that, but gave perspective, opportunity, and gave, and even if he did not elaborate in detail what he meant by national resistance, he roughly summarized how he sees the coming months. And what I think many Fidesz voters are looking for as a foothold, or at least trying to feel a bit comfortable in this period, is what can be expected in the near future, as a result of government decisions. And it was a very clear prediction from the former Prime Minister that austerity measures will come in the autumn. The euro is called austerity, so Brussels policy will arrive, foreigners will return, the plundering of Hungary, so there will be economic consequences, there is no basis for this film theater in economic terms, which we can now see from the Tisza side. So this seemed like a pragmatic, rational prognosis, a well-founded opinion about the future, but of course there are no certain answers, that is clear, but there is a determined and resolute Viktor Orbán.
Let's look at a few thoughts in a bit more detail, how he spoke about the National Asset Recovery Office. He simply said that this is the new AVH, and we also tried to explain what policy the Tisza is pursuing or what it will implement. And as Viktor Orbán said, some call it neo-communism. Somewhere this is the New Age liberal authoritarian system, but he would use this term for the autocratic system. Let's recall what the Fidesz president said about this.
If it is not the people who decide who they vote for, but the power decides who they can vote for, then democracy is finished. With a personalized, retroactive constitutional amendment, they removed the President of the Republic, the President of the Constitutional Court, removed the Chief Prosecutor, and thus abolished the rule of law. The abolition of democracy and the rule of law in Hungary today is happening for the sake of exclusive power exercise. This is a crime. It has no significance now, but it will have significance when we restore the rule of law, and then it will have serious significance.
You mentioned this crime. Very strong expression, very powerful. Perhaps in the past period, no Fidesz politician has formulated it like this. I'll be curious about the responses, or for example, the opinion of the Union, or the Venice Commission, or some human rights organization, how they think about this.
Yes, a powerful expression. But what is happening in Hungary now, this is, so a politician must always define the goal, and the tools must be assigned to this. The tool is not the essence. He defined the goal, a national government is needed again, we must get there, and it doesn't matter what this government or this parliamentary majority did, who they banned from the election, etc. The goal must be defined. And this also considered these measures illegitimate, right? So this doesn't need to be taken into account. And this, I think, can give a dynamic to the opposition, to the opposition camp, and now I'm not just thinking of the Fidesz faction and the KDNP faction, but that 2.5 million voter base, which I think has become uncertain in the past months, because then how and in what framework, and no substantive serious sentences were born, like the one that was born here. So I think the voter base was waiting for such a tough speech. This South American thing and this banana republic that is forming, this is really true. And this was indeed a message to the Venice Commission, to international organizations. And I think, by the way, the entire international, and I say this nicely, the international right, the patriots as well. And that Ursula von der Leyen's role is not interesting, because a commission with such power is not needed. This is already a message for the next EU election.
And when he spoke about the fact that there are, right, returnees in our environment as well, he didn't mention Donald Trump, but let's say he is also a big returnee, Babiš, Janša,
Fico, so he obviously alluded to the fact that he could also join them. So that despite the fact that there is indeed apathy and that,
He does not plan to quit politics, this can be read from this thought. Yes, yes.
I think that's why I alluded to the fact that if not 100%, but it seems to be decided that Viktor Orbán wants to stay and continue working, and he considers this a mission, not a party political position or even a power position looking at the Prime Minister's chair. But the return is, I think, an important key moment, because the core of the voter base, the part that could remain around Fidesz even in these periods, and obviously then it can be rebuilt even further when times come when resistance and dissatisfaction against the government naturally occur. So they should get ammunition that the opposition is already thinking about that situation, and with Viktor Orbán at the helm, that there will be a moment when it is a reality that one can return to power, or to the helm of government. So there is this communication, now in connection with this, analysts contribute. Obviously the result effect contributes, obviously there are open debates within the right side that contribute. Obviously, seeing the parliamentary work. So this whole film theater department also contributes to the fact that a right-wing voter can feel that this story is now lost for a long time. They are taking the politicians away, possibly in handcuffs. And to them, Viktor Orbán sent an important signal. They should be seen not as victims, but as heroes. He also highlighted János Hajdú and Balázs Hankó. Well, in this mood, that this whole thing will be swept away by a new power, because it follows from the fact that economically and, by the way, through the negative effects of autocracy, it will provoke resistance from people. So there is a scenario, a picture is visible regarding what will happen at the next election, that it is possible to replace this seemingly very monolithic, highly mandated government now. All these messages, I think, point to this, that this can be put in brackets. He sees these decisions as a crime, as illegitimate, that one doesn't need to deal with this. One doesn't need to deal with the restriction that excludes his re-election as Prime Minister, that, how should I say, this is a positive momentum-giving narrative and message, and I see that they applauded standing up there in Tusnádfürdő. This also stems from what he started in his speech, that in Tusnádfürdő, in Tusványos, those people are there and gather who think in one direction, think in one way, although the camp is heterogeneous. However, and the question is regarding this, that you think so now, but those who voted for the Tisza, and they are now happy that they are taking the politicians away by the lead, they are abolishing organizations, national asset recovery, there are head changes in almost all state organizations and background institutions. They are happy about this. They are not interested in whether, for example, a representative cannot be a representative after 12 years, they are not interested in whether this fits legally, or they are dismantling the rule of law, but simply they are applauding now because they say that finally someone has been held accountable. And the question from this perspective is when will that pink fog disappear, when these people also say that yes, I condemn the head of that organization because I think he did it badly and stole, as they usually say, but if legally nothing can be proven against him, or nothing happened, then,
They raise their hands. Yes, government steps have consequences, so one must always reckon with this, and the current government must also reckon with this, it could learn from the past 16 years, that there are always consequences and nothing is eternal. So in a few years we will look back on this period, and perhaps those government politicians will no longer be in the position they are in now. And I think this speech, this is a message to government politicians and the majority as well. Moreover, I think it is a message to everyone that if these illegitimate steps, and they are participating in a crime, then there may be consequences. The political mood has become polarized, but I say that everyone must reckon with the consequences, and I think they are calculating. They can calculate. They want to change the electoral system to proportional, right, this communication, the preliminary communication, that they want to make it proportional. There are ideas, as if there are ideas.
