In this Mann Ki Baat episode, PM Modi highlighted several citizen initiatives and government schemes. He interviewed Krishna Seshadri, creator of www.itihasa.com, a website documenting Indian history, and praised his efforts to include lesser-known empires like the Cholas and Ahoms. Modi urged youth participation in the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat' anti-drug campaign, encouraging slogan creation and content sharing with the hashtag #NashaMuktYuva. He noted patriotic activities during August, including over 80 million Tiranga selfies and the 'Surya Par Tiranga' global unfurling. On PM SVANidhi, he said 46% of beneficiaries are women, around 3.5 million, citing examples like Babita Sharma and T.S. Ningamma. He also praised 'Cleanup Patwai' youth removing over one ton of plastic waste from Ganga ghats, the Debrigarh ecotourism model involving over 60 women, Mission ShaktiSat's 12,000 female students, avocado farming success stories, and paid tribute to Uttam Kumar on his centenary.

I welcome all of you once again. As you all know, this is a platform where we bring new initiatives to light and discuss the innovative ideas of our fellow citizens. Many of these are ideas behind which people have dedicated their life's tireless energy. Friends, some time ago, someone wrote on social media: 'On the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, I am extremely pleased to share that I am launching my effort to make history interesting.' He further explained that the idea is very simple: visit this website and pick any year. Here, you can easily find out who ruled which part of India at that time. I also found this quite fascinating. I thought I should find out more about it. I learned that this work has been done by Mr. Krishna Seshadri, who lives in Mumbai. The interesting thing is that Krishna has also kept the website name very simple: www.itihasa.com. The initiative he has undertaken is something that should certainly reach all of you as well. That is why I thought, why not speak directly with Krishna? Friends, Krishna is joining us on the phone. Krishna, namaste.
Brother, I have come to know that you are neither from the tech world nor a history teacher. Yet, by using technology, you built a website on history. So I am very curious: how did all this happen?
Thank you, sir. It is a great privilege for me to speak with you. To share a little about myself: sir, I was an engineer, then I did my MBA, and then I went into the marketing field. But through all of that, since childhood, I had a deep interest in history. So I always wanted to do something with history on how to make it interesting. And I also felt that in the way we teach history, there is a lot of room for improvement. We can bring a lot of change to it and convey history to people by turning it into a story.
Sir, if you look at Indian history as it is taught in our schools and colleges, it is taught from the perspective and lens of just one empire or kingdom, and those empires receive disproportionate attention. Because of this, we do not get to know about many other great empires, like the Cholas, the Pallavas, the Karkota dynasty in Kashmir, and the Ahoms who preserved their culture and value system in Assam for at least 600 years. So I thought of creating a website that would introduce people to such great empires as well.
