All right, we're live. Good morning. Tuesday. And it is a beautiful day here in NYC. Kevin Fantasy, hello darling. Beautiful day in NYC. I have a serious question for semi-serious guy. Me. I have a semi-serious question and that is this. Well, no, I don't even know if it's a question. It's an observation and I want your takes.
And this is in light of, hmm, how do I want to say it? Let's just go back to our most recent election when we elected Zohran Mamdani as mayor here in New York. Whether you love him or hate him, whatever, but Zohran Mamdani was elected. Two female governors were elected, Prop 50 in California, and this was just this past November. Okay, so let's think about that. Let's think about what just happened in Hungary. Péter Magyar. Now, let's be clear, I'm well aware that Péter Magyar is no lefty flower child. But, you know, preferable to the alternative, let's just say, right?
And then let's just look at popularity and polls and what a certain someone has been posting and then deleting on his social media platform. I am going to venture something right now. And this is not to say, let me be clear, this is not to say that we're through the woods here. There's more horror coming, for sure. But I'm going to say this: I think Trump is over. I mean, when you're starting to, especially since you're losing the Christians with the 'Trump is Jesus' post that he deleted and claimed he was a dog treaty. Liar. I just think Trump is over. And the rest is just fumes. Now, they're going to be noxious fumes. And these are just feelings, not facts. That's how I rule my life. But I feel like Trump is over. Just these dominoes that are falling globally.
Right? There's something else that just happened recently. Let me just refer to my social media feed here on my iPad. Something else just happened recently that made me think, oh, I like this trend. And what was it? Something else. Oh, Canada's special election. Now, Mark Carney has like this the majority, which is, you know, I like this trend. So, Hungary, what happened in our last elections, we have a midterm coming up. I do believe that we're not just going to get the House, but also maybe the Senate. We'll see. And also our on the left. I mean, we have problems on the left. Let's not be in denial. But the swiftness with which Eric Swalwell stepped away, as he should.
You know, I liked Eric Swalwell. These revelations are extremely disappointing, but you know, this is not new. It's called learning things about people, your heroes. Not that Eric was one of my heroes, but I mean, I liked him and I appreciated the work that he did. But it's disappointing. You know, that's been happening since the dawn of time. I wish more people who were into Trump felt that way about him. As I posted last night, can we just like, okay, great, can we get back to the Epstein files and Trump and some of the skanky stunts that he's pulled? Can we focus on that? Accountability is the word. Like Eric Swalwell took accountability and just said, you know what? You're right. I got to, yeah, I'm going to step off. Great. As it should be. But I do feel like Trump is over. And what we've got left here are fumes.
That's just my thought. I was just listening to Pivot and Scott Galloway brought up something really interesting and he's right that Viktor Orbán conceded. Orbán's not any thinking person's favorite person at all. But he conceded. That's a big deal. That's a big deal. So thank you Viktor Orbán for being a man about it and freaking conceding. So I could be wrong. I often am. But Viktor Orbán conceded.
Now, in happier news, it is a beautiful day. It's going to be nearly 80 degrees here in New York. When I slept for the first time in 2026, I slept with my windows open. I screens in. Got to keep the bugs out cuz they drive Lenore crazy. So I slept with the windows open and I slept like a corpse. And it was nice. I went to a reading last night of Broadcast News, the James L. Brooks film, that's great, his screenplay. I went to a reading to benefit. There is a church on 86th Street up here on the Upper West Side, 86 and Amsterdam, that has been under threat of demolition forever. And so the likes of Mark Ruffalo and Kenneth Lonergan and others have been very vocal about trying to save it and just cuz it's a performance space, it's a work space, it's a former church.
Anyway, so there are a lot of readings. Like they do readings, not stage readings, just readings with celebrities to save it. So last night's reading of Broadcast News featured Matt Dillon in the William Hurt role, Marisa Tomei in the, oh God, what's her name? Why am I blanking on her name? Broadcast News, brilliant. What was the firecracker? Hello. Oh God, guys help me. I'm having a senior moment. And Josh Charles in the Albert Brooks role. My senior moments, they're killing me. Holly Hunter. Thank you Amy Ladue and Meg. Holly Hunter. Jesus. Yeah, Marisa Tomei and then my friend Christine Taylor played the Lois Charles role. She was so good.
Anyway, so that was nice to get out of the house and it's just down the street. I did that, came home, watched a little telly. I watched Your Friends and Neighbors. I'm enjoying this season. And yeah, so the second episode of Your Friends and Neighbors. I still have to catch up on all the episodes of The Comeback. Some people have issues with it. I enjoy it. I just, I could watch Lisa Kudrow kind of do anything. Oh. But there it is.
Vincent Verno says, 'George, you don't need to know everything. You are honest and perceptive.' Aw, you're very nice to say that, Vincent. I appreciate that. And thank you guys by the way for subscribing here on Substack and for those of you who are paid subscribers, I love you double. Thank you. You keep it alive. DTF St. Louis is interesting. I got to give that a try and also Rooster. So, I work to do. I got to catch up cuz I hear really good things about Rooster. I love greats. I never got into the reality show moment at all. Like I can, other than Carole Radziwill who's a friend. And maybe Lisa Rinna. I could not recognize a real housewife if she slapped me. So yeah.
I like scripted television. I like really good work. I like nicely produced, well-lit, professionally, thoughtfully, masterfully photographed, written, directed, lit, recorded. I like good professional work. So, give me more of that, please. All right? Yeah, so I got to catch up on Rooster and DTF, down to. I find it thrilling when things are well cast. I love that there isn't an Oscar for casting. How great is that, right? Personally, I thought the casting in The Sinner was my, that was my personal favorite, but again, my feelings, not facts.
And what else is going on today before I leave you? For watch nerds out there, there might be one or two of you. I'm a half watch nerd. I primarily just like diving watches and tool watches is what we call them, like the one I wear. And it's a 100th anniversary for Rolex and Tudor, and they rolled out some new ones. So, go check them out if you're a fan of Rolex and Tudor. Rolex rolled out, I'm not, they're two anniversary watches. It's Watches and Wonders. That's what I'm getting to. It's like an auto show, but for watches. And Rolex rolled out a bunch of, like five new ones for the year. There were two, one with a, they're celebrating the Rolex Oyster. Rolex has been around for more than 100 years, but it's the anniversary of the Rolex Oyster, which is the waterproof case. You know, so when you see that word Oyster Perpetual on a Rolex, it's referring to the case of the watch cuz it's waterproof. Which was a big achievement in 1926.
So, that's out. So there's an Oyster Perpetual with a green dial that I think is kind of great. And there's a new Daytona that I think is kind of nice. Other than the big champ, Tudor, my little underdog favorite, the less expensive, half the price of a Rolex, but just as good as a Rolex watch from the same company, is having its actual 100th anniversary. And they came out with a couple of new ones that I thought were kind of fantastic. So, anyway, if you're a watch nerd, go look at those. Go look at them on Instagram. Go look at Rolex and Tudor's website or YouTube channels, however you absorb that content, and go look at that. So, anyway, yeah.
I don't know. I get excited about it. I love automatic, manual watch. I'm not wearing mine right now, but yeah. I might treat myself if I get a tax, in my tax refund. I might treat myself to a new Tudor Black Bay 58 because it's now a master chronometer, meaning it's double certified for durability and accuracy. I don't know. I'm geeking out, sorry. Sorry. And then it might be overkill cuz I already have a master chronometer, chronometer master, chronometer Tudor. Talking out my ass now. Let's see. 'George, I really like the TAG Heuer glass box watch, more within my range. How do you feel about them?' I get what you're saying, Vincent. I'd have to look at it. I don't know. But if it's something that you really love, get it. You know, if someone blows a lot of money on, say, a Rolex, and if it's something that you really want and feel strongly about, I am fully supportive. And if the TAG is something that you love and you feel strongly about it, I fully support it. So, yes for you. 100%.
And also, let's not forget for the more price conscious, let's go to the other opposite end of the spectrum, as I've written about here on Substack and expressed, Timex. Timex is crushing it. I keep forgetting who the guy is who, the guy is who is the head of Timex creative director. His name is Giorgio Galli. He's the global creative director for the Timex Group, based in Milan, Italy. And Giorgio Galli is responsible for this amazing time, no pun intended, that Timex is having. Like the Timex rollout, the designs, the craftsmanship, super impressive. So, yeah. So, Timex all the way to Rolex and a bunch in between. I say yes.
That's it. I hope wherever you are, you're having a good day. And I'll be back later with a more structured podcast-like version of my chatty chat. And I'm going to do a live. 'Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin', Richard, you know. My dad was an advertising man. There's this guy, well before a lot of people's time, his name is John Cameron Swayze. And he was the guy who said in the Timex commercials, 'Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.' And my dad was an ad man, and he worked for, I forget what the ad agency was, it might have been Mar Schack, and they worked on that campaign. My dad worked on that Timex campaign. Yeah. Anyway. Enough of that. Love you guys. Talk to you later.
