2:20Navrina, when you say trust, how should companies using AI approach trust?
4:42Now, when it comes to the biggest risks that generative AI can throw up in the next 5 to 10 years, what would those be and what kind of a conversation would you want on this at the upcoming India AI summit?
5:58... you think a global framework is important or companies should have their own guardrails and a definition of trust that they comply with, which is their commitment to their user, their commitment to their employees and working for everyone?
7:29What percentage of companies according to you are using AI tools and at the same time have an AI governance framework work?
8:45And finally, what is the kind of messaging that you would like to hear from the Indian government at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi next month?
Welcome back to Global Lens. After driving investments and expectations, the focus around AI has now shifted towards impact and trust. This shift was also highlighted in a white paper unveiled at the World Economic Forum. The report, based on insights from hundreds of technology providers and startups, outlines five key enablers for successful AI adoption and scaling. First, harnessing AI as a core part of how organizations operate. Second, amplifying strengths when humans and AI work together in an evolving workforce. Third, strengthening data foundations and strategic data resources to drive impact and scale. Fourth, modernizing the technology stack to enable advanced AI capabilities. And finally, scaling AI with confidence through responsible AI practices. So, what do these responsible AI practices really mean? And how do we define trustworthy AI? To understand all of this in detail and also ahead of the India AI Impact Summit, we speak with Navrina Singh, founder of Credo AI. Thank you for joining us from Davos, Navrina. And you will also be present at the upcoming AI summit in New Delhi. Give us a sense of just how important is the conversation on governance structures in the world of artificial intelligence.
Thank you so much for having me. I'm live here from Davos. It's been a very exciting couple of days and you know what's really interesting is I've been coming here for many years and this was the first year that the conversation around governance and trust took center stage. Now as we are moving from pilots to production, Gen AI and Agentic AI solutions for them to scale across the enterprise and to the consumers, trust needs to be built from day one. And so we are seeing this real need and urgency around ensuring the right oversight, accountability and control across the entire AI life cycle. And you know what's really interesting is hearing not just from business leaders but also government leaders how now it becomes really important to ensure that we have the right guardrails in place is becoming a key topic here.
What a great question. I think that was one of the core themes of Davos this year. How do you really define trust? And a lot of that definition is rooted in use case and context specific scenarios. So as an example, if you're a financial services organization deploying fraud models across the business, trust would mean a very different thing than if you are a healthcare business deploying life insurance or patient-facing AI applications. And so one of the core takeaways was trust is really rooted in transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes that really needs to be measured not only across your technical pipelines, but also the impact it's going to have on users.
Right. Give us a sense of the kind of solutions you're offering to companies across the world, also in India, and what are going to be some of the governance tools you will offer in the next 5 to 10 years as we see a proliferation of AI tools.
So Credo AI has existed for almost 5 and a half years. We created the AI governance and trust category and as you can imagine the only way the AI stack is going to be beneficial is if it has a trust OS and that trust OS really needs not only holistic governance but it also needs risk understanding, risk mitigation and compliance with emerging regulations and standards. So these are the set of services and products that we provide as Credo AI across the organizations that we are working at. So not only from discovering where AI is being used within your businesses but also how do you figure out the risks within these systems and then how do you ensure ongoing compliance when you're deploying these systems in production. And that's obviously the right now but as we look into the future we're also very excited about really thinking about the challenges in global south and is there a way that the knowledge graph that Credo AI has built can be adapted to the very diverse and key requirements that are emerging in global south to make sure that AI actually works for the population that exists in those regions.
Right. Now, when it comes to the biggest risks that generative AI can throw up in the next 5 to 10 years, what would those be and what kind of a conversation would you want on this at the upcoming India AI summit?
