About Nandan Nilekani

Nandan Nilekani, Chairman and Co-Founder of Infosys, addressed the company’s 45th Annual General Meeting on June 23, 2026, where he dismissed concerns that artificial intelligence will replace IT services firms. Nilekani stated that AI will "amplify those who move with purpose and adapt with speed," and argued that enterprise AI adoption still requires integration, governance, cybersecurity, and modernization expertise. He noted that Infosys is already working with 90% of its top clients on AI initiatives and sees a potential $300–400 billion AI services opportunity by 2030. Nilekani also cautioned that implementing AI in a dysfunctional way could be counterproductive, giving the example of employees using AI to expand and then summarize emails without improving overall productivity. In separate remarks, Nilekani discussed the challenge of transitioning from a founder-led company to one led by non-founders, describing it as "an order of magnitude more complicated" due to the importance of values and culture. He said that the AI transformation has given Infosys an opportunity to "recalibrate and re-energize and reduce bureaucracy" and expressed confidence that the company would eventually manage both an AI transition and a leadership transition.

Dear shareholders, welcome to the 45th annual general meeting of Infosys. Fiscal 2026 has been a year of disciplined execution and resilience. We delivered $20.2 billion in revenues, growing 3.1% in constant currency, with a strong adjusted operating margin of 21% and free cash flow of $3.7 billion, 112.6% of net profit. Large deal TCV was $14.9 billion, 55% net new. The board recommended a final dividend of ₹25, total dividend ₹48, 11.6% growth. Nitin Paranjpe has been appointed vice chairman. Diane Jurgens was appointed independent director, and Ellen Poier was reappointed for a second term. On AI: three years after GenAI launched, Infosys is more relevant than ever. AI will not replace companies like ours; it will amplify those who move with purpose and adapt with speed. Legacy modernization is urgent. We are collaborating with 90% of our top 200 clients on AI. We unveiled an AI-first value framework targeting a $300–400 billion opportunity by 2030. We recruited over 20,000 college graduates, ending with 325,000 employees. Acquisitions include M Consulting Limited, The Missing Link Group, and we formed a JV with Telstra to acquire Versend Group, plus acquisitions of Status Global LLC and Optimum Healthcare IT. We achieved carbon neutrality for the seventh consecutive year; 81.8% of India operations use renewables. Eleven campuses have true zero waste certification. Infosys Foundation undertook 200 projects impacting 7 million lives. We were recognized as the world's most ethical company for the sixth year. On behalf of the board, I thank our employees, clients, co-founders, and shareholders for their support. I now request Salil Parekh, CEO and MD, to continue.
