1:36I wanted to ask: are you showing the industry how to do social responsibility right while remaining profitable at the same time?
3:45How do you see Brazil from the Betsson perspective in 2025 and beyond?
5:18And if you could single out any single markets in 2025 for Betsson that stand out in terms of regions, which ones would you point to?
5:45Does that essentially say to the industry that basing your business model predominantly around casino revenue over sports revenue is the way to go?
6:30But does that actually create extra pressure and maybe make things difficult for 2025 when you're looking to repeat that?
7:17With Betsson looking to emulate these results again in 2025, is there anything you're looking to do in terms of product or roadmap to innovate and really bring to the market?
Hello viewers, Tim PA here, editor of Gaming Insider, and I'm with a familiar face, Pontus Lindwall, CEO of Betsson AB. We're going to be reflecting on Betsson's record 2024 results, but first of all, let's see what he said when we spoke to him about Q2 results back in July.
It's a good set of results. It's a strong report across the line, all-time highs for both sportsbook revenues and casino revenues. Strong performance in our larger regions that we work in. The comparables we compare to, which is second quarter last year, was a record quarter at that time and very strong, and a good quarter. So I'm very happy with delivering these results here.
As a comparison, now Betsson back over a billion euros in revenue for 2024. A share price that is going up 6.5%, increasing in response to these results, which all follows up another victory at the Global Gaming Awards. We reflect with Pontus on these achievements: Asia, Brazil, and more. Pontus, thanks for joining us. We're here to reflect on your Q4 results and your 2024. Over a billion euros in revenue for Betsson. The share price is up 6.5% and growing. You must be very...
Yeah, I'm pleased. It's all-time high in revenues, all-time high in EBITDA for the quarter. And I think we can say that the fourth quarter 2024 was a strong finish to a very strong year, because we had a strong year in all the quarters.
Social responsibility was mentioned in Betsson's full year report, and obviously Betsson won Social Responsibility of the Year at the Global Gaming Awards EMEA in Barcelona recently. I wanted to ask: are you showing the industry how to do social responsibility right while remaining profitable at the same time?
Yeah, I hope we try to do the best we can in that area. There are many competitors who are also very ambitious in that area. I think we in the top of this industry will have to prove that we are able to be profitable and working with responsibility at the same time. And I think even that acting responsibly would help us to stay profitable over time. That's our belief at least.
Absolutely. And an interesting stat in your report was that 91.7% of all Betsson customers are using some kind of responsible gambling tool at the moment.
Yeah, I was almost surprised myself by that high rate of customers using these tools. But if you go back 10 years, it was a totally different situation, and if you go back 15 to 20 years, there was no such tools almost. So the industry has done a great job here, and I think we're on the path to become even better. We have high ambitions. We've spoken about this before.
And often a CEO will say that they can't affect the share price, whether it's good or bad. But at the moment, you must be very pleased because the market does seem to be reacting really well to this positive set of...
Results? Yeah, it has reacted positively. I think we're getting paid now, or the shareholders are getting reward for the long period of strong development that we've had. So but yeah, I think it's good, but I think it's fair as well. Latin America has obviously been a source of growth for Betsson for a number of years. Now that Brazil has regulated the sports betting and iGaming market with new players in...
Yeah, obviously Brazil attracts a lot of attention from this industry as of right now. And we can see that not only in media but also in the market itself. And we have stated that we are going to be in Brazil, we're going to start working there during the year. But we're not going to take on all our cash box and just pour it into marketing and try to become number one in that market initially. We're going to watch out how it starts off and learn and continue to crank on there.
