Oh god, we're here. We made it. This is the bane of my existence when I have to go to all these other channels to do a live when I'm simulcasting between Substack and YouTube. Anyway, I hope everyone's having an all right Tuesday thus far.
Are we there? Are we there? Yeah, we're there. Okay, great. Um, yeah, it's Tuesday all day. It's a gorgeous day here in New York City, but not um it's not too hot. I had the AC on. I've had the AC on low today. Although there was this really um nice point in the day when um yeah, a nice point in the day when I had no AC on and um I don't know. It was lovely. A nice breeze.
All right, comments. 11:00 a.m. in London. No, it's not. It's 11 p.m. in London. It's six o'clock. We're just about to chime six o'clock. We're about 30 seconds from six o'clock here in New York City, which means it's about right now 20 seconds until 11 p.m. in London. It says so on my time, my GMT watch here, my trusty Timex. Um, someone says, "You are right." I know I'm right. God damn it.
6 p.m. in New Hampshire. Suz's here. Got some YouTube watchers. And um Oh, we got a nice crowd over on Substack. It is 106 in my car, says Dawn on Substack. Sorry about that. Um it is warm here though. I mean, it's in the 80s. That's AC worthy depending on your apartment. If you live in a unit like mine, which is filthy with sunlight, like a baking in it, it's, you know, at 11:00 p.m. in Dublin. Oh, nice.
So, I did a live earlier today on Instagram mentioning how I started off by articulating this pet peeve that I've got and I've I've noticed it. I observed it again recently. Unfortunately, it sucks how, and I think it's men in particular, because I think women are better at this. Um, about owning your mistakes, if you screw something up, if you [__] up, owning it and apologizing for it. Like if you if you were uh negligent, if you uh took advantage, if you were a dick. Um first of all to have the awareness of that and also to uh make amends as it were and apologize.
Men's inability to do that is astonishing. Men's the effort men in particular put into avoiding that and running as far away from owning a mistake, acknowledging um a a trespass as it were, a transgression um uh whether it was being a dick or whether you just took advantage of someone or you were disrespectful. Owning that and knowing when you were disrespectful and making an amends and just saying, you know what, I [__] up there. I took advantage. It wasn't cool and I'm sorry. Like that goes a long way. And for a lot of men, it is apparently impossible for enough men to notice. Let's put it that way. I know some guys are better at it than others.
Richard Catz, thank you very much, sir. Look at this. [cough and clears throat] Excuse my cough there. Um, thank you very much, Richard. A little tip in the tip jar. Speaking of going a long way, that goes a long way. Thank you, sir. Um, so yeah, I mean, ladies will give us an amen here. When a guy says, "I [__] up. I'm sorry." Goes a long way. It goes a long way. So guys, I strongly encourage you to try it out.
Uh, Bill Kelly here on Substack says, "It's very humbling and very necessary, but it is freeing. You have to make amends." Thank you, George, for someone who has [__] up a looked and I have [__] up plenty. Um, let's just say I don't want to know. I don't want to say where I learned it because it would defeat the purpose of the name of the group, let's just say. But part of the thing that we do in this group is making a list of people we had harmed and then with the exception of a situation where doing them might making amends might cause them harm or um any discomfort or pain in any way, you make an amends and that's what we do. Uh not my default setting by the way, but it's something that I have learned.
And also I had parents who were um pretty good about establishing good guidelines and rules and guard rails for us children. And we were taught to God, I remember I had to go apologize to a neighbor that I did not want to apologize. I she was a mean woman. She wasn't partic or at least I thought she was not a very nice lady. They live next door and I broke their window accidentally. It wasn't deliberate. I broke their window and they never sent my parents a bill for the broken window. And my dad Oh, my dad made me go over to her house, knock on her door. She's long gone now. Made me go over to knock on her door and apologize. I so didn't want to do it. But in hindsight, here I am probably 40 years later remembering that and knowing that that was the right move. That was the gangster move was to eat crow, go over there and be like, "I'm very sorry. I'm sorry I broke your window." Hated doing it, but my father was totally right.
Anyway, moving on. Um, I have an issue that I need to get off my chest and that is and that is with my uh the political party with whom I am affiliated, the Democratic Party. Also, what is what is it with the right saying Democrat party? Is that supposed to be an insult or some kind of burn? I don't get it. I think it's dumb. When someone says Democrat party, they sound not clever. They sound uneducated, unsophisticated, stupid. So, if you're in if you're I'm not sure why you'd be listening to me, but if you are um part of the right and don't like Democrats and you like to say Democrat party, it's not the insult you think it is, just FYI. But hey, knock yourself out. I don't I don't want to rob you of a of of what you think is a good time.
Um, but I do have I want to take issue with something with Democrats, particularly lately. Uh, you know, we just had this mayoral election. We've got this new mayor who is now coming up on just finished seven months on the job, Zoran Mamdani. Uh there is a strange national obsession with him because he's this exotic non-Judeo-Christian product that people can't wrap their heads around. And um he's said some things and articulated some points in his past that I'm not totally crazy about, but as a mayor, he seems to be kind of doing the job, right? And he's part of he's I guess what one calls a democratic socialist, also not entirely new and not just a brown-skinned people thing. Uh Bernie Sanders being one of them.
Now there are some candidates who won elections this recent um um primary season here in New York. Um two I'm thinking of in particular, Daria Lise and another one I'm name is escaping me, forgive me. Um who are ruffling some feathers because they've got some messaging that makes particularly people of Jewish persuasion a little nervous, but also they give others a reason to use the C-word. And by C-word, I mean communist. First of all, communists don't do capitalism. And these candidates that we're talking about are capitalists. So, let's be super clear.
Um, but that's not my point. My point is these candidates clearly said something or had messaging not just pointing the finger like saying Donald Trump bad, don't worry about what just Donald Trump bad, other candidates bad. No, they've had Zoran Mamdani included messages in their campaign, in their campaigning, and in their speaking on their platforms. That's the word I'm looking for. Uh that has resonated with enough voters, enough voters to get them uh elected in a primary or to win a primary, I should say. And I know primaries are different animals than general elections, but um when Zoran Mamdani won, there were also two female governors elected and then there was Prop 15 California. I remember looking at this election this past November 2025 and thinking um it sounds it feels like some winds of change might be a blow in here.
Um thank you Peely 1410. She's off to bed or he's off to bed. My apologies that you're so tired. 11 o'clock is late but hit the sack. We'll talk later. Um anyway, where was I? Mamdani had messaging that resonated. Uh these other sort of like super lefty candidates that are really making some more moderate establishment Democrats nervous have messaging that are messages that are resonating with people. Clearly, we have an electorate particularly among the youngs who are pissed and understandably so that opportunities that were afforded their parents and earlier than that don't seem to be available to them, right? Um, you know, we're in a time where people who are 30 years old cannot buy a house, but their parents could when they were 30. You know, like it's kids should be doing better than their parents. And that's not the case right now. It's as if the old like the the the incumbents are just sort of like hoarding the whatevers and not coming up with anything interesting or helpful to young people and they're not into it, right?
Say what one will about Zoran Mamdani. Um, doxing Scott. I'll get to that. Say what one will about Zoran Mamdani. I will get to that right now actually. Do I like everything he's done? No. Was that what that he was doxing the rich people who were to qualify for the pied-à-terre tax? Not the coolest move at all. And there was also that video he did outside someone's apartment. I forget what that was about, but I just remember like literally cringing when I saw it. Tacky. You know, not every move is solid. That's the case with every politician. Not every move is solid. But the point is that there is a message coming from these candidates that is resonating with people that establishment moderate Democrats are not hitting. You know, so if establishment moderate Democrats want to get traction and start winning elections, you have to give the people something. You've got to present them with something. Um um and we're not getting that at all. And that's a real drag.
Thank you for this message. I will get to this one too, Bill. Um, Irish politics is no better. I have no doubt. Um, so the point is, yeah, uh, you know, Hakeem Jeffries and um, Chuck Schumer can whine and [__] all day long, but I just want to shake these guys be like, "Okay, cool. What the [__] are you guys doing? We're going to hold them accountable. Great. When you know and also instead of bitching about how horrible these young super lefty candidates are in your mind, come up with something that resonates with voters. And how about start winning some [__]?" That's my problem. You know, I'm a Democrat. I'm a proud Democrat. Um I am a member of the Democratic party. Uh but at the same time, I'm disappointed in some of our moderate more establishment um Democrats. So instead of bitching about how scary these left, superleft candidates are, work on some messaging that resonates because as of now, you're blowing it. Like it's just, you know.
Let's see. Let me catch up with some comments here on Substack. Dawn here says, "I was such a [__] to the woman at at a Nordstrom makeup counter once. I went back to apologize to them the next day. They were most appreciative and shocked that I would take the time to come back." Dawn, that's called being an adult and making an amends. Good for you. I bet you made that um employee's day. M I've done things like that, too. It feels really good. It feels really good.
Bill Kelly here says it's hard when you can't make amends. Um, you can if it if if if by can't making can't uh God, I can't even speak. If by not being able to make amends, you mean if the person has died, you can make a living amends. I've made a living amends to my father by being a better, more upstanding, responsible, sober person. That's an amends to my father. Um, or you can write a letter to someone. I've done this and it was actually helpful. Um, I made an amends to a friend who had died. I was not able I didn't I waited too long and I I [__] up. Um, a friend had died and I was not able to physically make an amends to this person in real time at the time, but it was suggested to me by someone I adored and trust that I write a letter. And I did. And I shared it with this person who suggested I write this letter. And um, I still have it somewhere. And it was I made my amends in a letter. And make a living amends. Be the person that you wish you could have been going forward. That's how you can do it. But yeah, there are different circumstances.
And finally, I want to wrap up like I did earlier on Instagram today. Um, I don't know if any of you saw there was an op-ed today in the New York Times by David Ellison, who is essentially, for those of you who don't know, David Ellison is head of Skydance, uh, that owns Paramount, and he's the son of Larry Ellison, who founded Oracle and one of the richest men in the world. And David Ellison is, I mean, Nepo baby Supreme. I mean, like, wow, scoob. And um so he's now making and they bought CBS and they have kind of run CBS News in terms of their credibility into the ground with the whole Scott Pelley 60 Minutes blow up. Anderson Cooper has left. Other people have left CBS because Bari Weiss, the person they chose to run CBS News, doesn't know what the [__] she's doing because she's not a news person. She's an opinion writer. Whatever.
David Ellison was trying to because they're trying to make a bid for Warner Brothers Discovery, including Warner Brothers, which also includes HBO and CNN as part of the package. Um there is a concern that they will once the deal goes through they will turn CNN into uh you know sort of Trump approved news like they've done with CBS. It's a legit concern, of course. And um uh David Ellison, the the deal's been stalled because there are people who have legally made their concerns known and the deal has been stalled. I personally don't think the deal should go through. Um what to do with CNN? I don't know. Netflix might have been a better steward of that property. Uh Ellison put like way overvalued it like spent way too much money. Like I would imagine Larry Ellison, David's dad's like whoa. I forget what the you know the stock price was or whatever. But way overpaying, way overvalued.
Anyway, he wrote an op-ed in today's New York Times talking about his politics and saying, you know, sometimes I vote for Republicans, I've also voted for Democrats. Whatever. I don't really care. Um, and I'm not really interested in what he says. I'm interested in what he does and what the evidence suggests there. And what the evidence suggests there is what he has done or what he has let happen with um CBS News. I mean, there's your evidence. That's probably what they would do to CNN. Um, also similar to what Jeff Bezos has done to the Washington Post.
Call me crazy, but I think a good example of a good steward, like owner of a property, Rupert Murdoch, with the exception of the op-ed page, the Wall Street Journal is a great newspaper. I I get Wall Street Journal through Apple News now because I subscribe to Apple News. And Rupert Murdoch, he's a newspaper person, so it's not surprising, but he's a newspaper person with an agenda. But aside from the editorial page, which I, you know, could give a [__] about at the Wall Street Journal, the reporting, the stories, um, WSJ magazine on the weekends, um, it's a great newspaper, you know. So there are owners who may seem like the princes of darkness, but aren't. Rupert Murdoch being one with respect to the Wall Street Journal.
However, David Ellison has not really shown that uh kind of ethic with respect to CBS News like at all. Bari Weiss is such a terrible choice and they have bowed to dear leader, you know, Mango Mussolini. Gross. Anyway, I suggest I I highly recommend everybody read this op-ed. It's in today's Times, David Ellison's op-ed. I forget what the title of it is called. It doesn't really matter. I posted about it also in Bluesky and uh Threads. And I still don't think the deal went through.
Now, before I go, somebody requested uh my thoughts on the whole Mitch McConnell disappearing thing. I I don't know. I don't know where he is. I'm not in touch with any. I have no connections there at all. My suspicion is that he is being kept on life support for whatever reason. My suspicion is that he is no longer with us in any physically real meaningful way. That's my suspicion. I could be wrong. I don't think I'm wrong, but that's what I that's my gut and that's not science, you know. Um yeah. Yeah. I don't I think I I think his seat should be available. Yeah, I think his seat should be available.
All right, let me go check with Substack. Ellison should back off and let Netflix's deal go through. Maybe Warren Buffett and Geico, another example. Sure. Right. So, I'm impressed with um I'm impressed with uh the rare rich owner of things who are like hands off. Like, say what you will about Rupert Murdoch's politics. Personally, I think he's the prince of [__] darkness and Fox News is the worst thing that's ever been foisted on American culture, bar none. Um, but from a news standpoint and a reporting standpoint, the Wall Street Journal is an excellent news source. Truly, you know, he's kind of, you know, left it alone. Go figure.
Anyway, that's all I got. I might hit the movies later tonight to see what I don't know. I don't know what the movie is. There's uh Joe Faria, if you're watching this, I'm sorry, buddy. I don't know what we're watching tonight yet. I got to think of something because it's nearly 6:22. So, thank you guys for tuning in. Thank you to all of you who have um thrown tips in the jar as a couple of you did here on YouTube and over on Substack. Thank you guys for subscribing and thank you for being a paid subscriber. It means uh more than I can say.
And let me just get my media. See, what I like to do is when I'm kind of like winding in is like lose that logo up on the upper right screen and come to this. Thank you for joining me for the George Hahn Experience. This is that's like I'm holding the George Hahn Experience like that. There it is. The George Hahn Experience right there. This is so tacky. Anyway, thank you guys for hanging out. I really appreciate it. And uh let's talk tomorrow. If you're a paid subscriber, you can have access to all of it on Substack. Uh but today's is a freebie. So please consider subscribing. We will continue this discussion further. All right. Bye for now.
