Aaron Parnas reported on President Trump's speech at the United Nations General Assembly, noting it was met with silence and walkouts from world leaders. Parnas highlighted that Trump's speech was more of a campaign-style State of the Union address than a global address, and that outside the UN, protesters chanted 'Trump does not speak for us' and called him a war criminal. Parnas criticized Trump's renaming of artificial intelligence to 'super intelligence' and his attacks on Cuba and the International Criminal Court, suggesting Trump's actions are driven by fear of war crimes prosecution. Parnas also mentioned Trump's previous attempts to rename Lake Ontario and the Gulf of Mexico, and promoted his sponsor Hims.

Key takeaways

  1. Trump's UN speech was met with silence and walkouts, not applause, from world leaders.
  2. Protesters outside the UN chanted 'Trump does not speak for us' and called him a war criminal.

Donald Trump's speech at the United Nations General Assembly has concluded, and he was met with a lot of silence. Not a lot of applause, not a lot of happiness, not a lot of smiles, just a whole lot of silence throughout the entire speech, which dubbed more to be a campaign-style State of the Union speech for the United States of America rather than a State of the World speech in which the United States of America is supposed to be a major player on the world stage. Countries walked out of his speech at times. He tried to rename artificial intelligence as super intelligence, and so much more. Overall, it was just a whole lot of silence throughout.
Now, the president is facing a difficult task this week, trying to convince world leaders that America remains a power on the world stage when, in reality, Trump has done everything he can to pull America back from being a superpower across the world. And this speech and the reaction that it got from inside the hall certainly exposed a lot of it. And it came as, outside of the speech, the president was met with major protests calling him a war criminal. As always, make sure to hit that subscribe button. And let's talk about the president's speech today because, well, it really missed the mark. Outside of the convention hall, at the outside of the United Nations where the president was speaking, he was met with a ton of protesters. Mass protests took to the streets calling the president a war criminal. Take a look.

Trump does not speak for us. Trump does not speak for us. Trump does not speak for us. Trump does not speak for us.

"Trump does not speak for us" is what the protesters were chanting. They had "Trump is a war criminal" signs and so much more. As he was giving his speech inside of the United Nations hall, and it's really emblematic of where the United States stands on the world stage. The United States is hosting the United Nations General Assembly, as the UN is located in New York. And the country's president, who's hosting this gathering of world leaders — arguably the most world leaders in one setting ever — is getting protested by his own people. And inside the convention hall, the reaction was much of the same. The president began his speech by outlining America's accomplishments, but every single accomplishment he outlined was met with silence from those inside the convention hall.

Mr. President, Mr. Secretary General, First Lady of the United States, distinguished delegates, ambassadors, and fellow leaders, it's my great honor to welcome the world to America as we celebrate 250 years of glorious freedom and independence. Two and a half centuries after the cause of liberty found its home on this continent, I can report to you with pride that America is back, and our country is stronger today than ever before.
Our economy is the world. Our military is the most powerful on earth. Our technology is second to none, and we are leading in virtually everything. Our energy is fueling the planet. America is rising. Our nation is growing. Our power is expanding. Our country is doing better than ever before, and our future is very, very bright. Since I took office, we have created more than 1 million new private sector jobs, and more Americans are working today by far than ever before.

He was expecting, by the way, after each of those remarks, to get an applause from those in the audience, to get something from those in the audience, something from the world leaders. And well, he was met with silence throughout. And instead, he was actually met with delegations leaving the speech. See, at times, Donald Trump went after countries like Cuba, saying that Cuba is a failed nation and it's going to fail even more. Take a look at what happened during this part of the speech.
