Phil Spencer goes out there, he even says something small and everyone's covering it. Today we got another Phil Spencer interview. The interview today is done by Danny and Paris over there on their 20th anniversary of Gamertag Radio. We're going to cover it because there is one specific part of this interview that I want to talk about. What's going on, you guys? Gaming Addict here, coming to another video. Today we'll be talking about the future of Xbox hardware. We got Phil Spencer to give his opinion on the matter in terms of what his priorities are at Xbox and what he feels it's going to go towards. I want to really go over this with a fine-tooth comb.
More of the overall answer that he gave. Paris, shout out to them, they did a great interview. They asked him a lot of good questions, but this one particular question that Paris asked I want to really go over. It's the future of the Xbox hardware and where Phil kind of sees hardware going in general, and what Xbox's hardware means to Microsoft. So we're going to jump over here and listen to this. I don't know if I'm going to listen to the entire minute and a half because that's how long they talk about it, because I want to give my opinion on it. I'm always real with you guys.
I want you to watch the whole segment, then pause it. I want you guys to hear the entire conversation in terms of this particular subject. Keep in mind, I want Paris, Phil Spencer, and Danny to get their whole bars across before I pause it. So let's go ahead and do this.
Program that Microsoft and Xbox is doing, but I have to stick with community and I have to stick to listening to the community. I have to ask this because if I don't, people will kill me. So a year ago, you and I, I want to talk about this. This is an Xbox, this new marketing thing that you have, but I want to put it in this context. So a year ago you had the business update and you talked about the four games and putting that out there and learning from it. Obviously you have definitely learned something because we're now seeing...
Companies, a lot of them won't let you ask this, so shout out to Phil for allowing this kind of question to go through because it puts them in a bad position. Phil Spencer is extremely PR trained, so they probably have a lot more leeway in terms of what you can ask Phil because he's most likely going to have the perfect way of answering it. It doesn't really give you any definite answers, but it also doesn't tell you anything either. So let's pop and finish this. Essentially what Paris is asking here is, he's like, 'Look, you had those four games. We're kind of curious what your mindset is now because clearly those games have sold what they sold. We don't want to know what is the future plans now since you have that data from selling those four games.'
With some of your portfolio things like that, and I'm leading that into this is an Xbox in your interpretation. So is coming from your words, what does that mean now for Xbox as you head into the future?
All right, so essentially I'm going to give you guys some context. People that don't know, Phil Spencer said in an interview not too long ago where someone asked him, 'Is there any lines that you won't cross in terms of what Xbox games are going to go over to other platforms?' And Phil Spencer said there's no red lines, pretty much saying there's nothing that we're not willing to put over there. That means Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, everything's going to go there eventually. Now when I initially heard this, I thought, 'Okay, but what does that realistically mean? Does that mean these...'
Some games are going to be multiplat, some games are going to be exclusive at launch. I think that's one of the biggest reasons people have when it comes to this kind of communication. Exactly what does any of this mean? Because it's inconsistent. Is Fable going to be a multiplat or is it going to be console exclusive? And people say, 'Well, they've already announced Fable is an exclusive, but they announced Avowed too was an exclusive and that was eventually changed into a multiplat.' So there's context on that. I just want you guys to know. So let's continue.
