Hey guys, it's Cat. Welcome back. Today I'm here with Eddie Q, the senior vice president of services at Apple. We are here at the Apple TV Media Press Day. So many huge announcements, and I'm really excited to sit down today with you and chat about what we're most excited about, what we can expect for 2026, and all of the new things coming to Apple TV. So, Apple TV coming off a huge year with Formula 1, the movie, Severance, The Studio. When you look at all of this, what does it say about where you want to take storytelling at Apple?
Eddy Cue 0:33 ↗
Well, Kat, thank you for having me. I was very excited to be able to spend a little time together. Well, look, first of all, I pinched myself. We got started, you know, seven years ago with this idea of trying to create some of the best TV shows and movies in the world. And we started with a brand new team from scratch, and we've now built it to this point where we had the most amazing year as you mentioned. But the great news for me is I'm always looking forward. It's great that's the past, but the cool part now is this is for the first time we have new shows or returning shows plus movies and there's something new every week in '26. We've never had that because we've been building ourselves to get to this point, and so it's amazing. We have Shrinking season 3 that's going on right now. We have Friends and Neighbors coming on and then we have, you know, incredible new movies that are coming up. We've got new series and Perfect Women that I'm very excited about.
Cat 1:36 ↗
That's I'm most excited about that one because I love books turned into movies and I was a fan of the book first. So seeing the women on stage talking about it, Elizabeth Moss, Kerry Washington, it was huge.
Eddy Cue 1:48 ↗
Yeah. And I love when you do a book, it's really hard to please everyone to do a TV series. So, I think the bar is even higher. But I love that part because it means that we have to be even better.
Cat 2:03 ↗
And so, does that excite you about your job?
Eddy Cue 2:05 ↗
Yeah, well, look, part of Apple's DNA, I've been there for a long time, is we're not trying to be the most, but we are trying to be the best. And so, we want to align and work with the best people in the world. And that's what we're getting to do. When we started this, we've shown the fact that we're going to create an environment where we can have the best stories by the best storytellers to create emotions. I look at our shows and I love when I'm laughing, when I'm crying, when I'm heartbroken, when it's heartwarming, all the things that you go to, that's how you know we're doing well.
Cat 2:38 ↗
Love that. So, Apple TV has such a recognizable identity in storytelling. What do you think makes something feel like an Apple TV project?
Eddy Cue 2:47 ↗
It's hard because, you know, everyone wants to sort of pigeonhole: are you in sci-fi, are you in comedy dramas or theatrical movies or movies that are... and I think, you know, we're about all of them. We're about the best stories. That is the constant thing that we're trying to do, which is the best stories and do them at an incredible quality. That people, like I said, they're going to feel and remember when they watch our shows and movies. And so that's what we try to do. And in order to do that, we can't do that many. So that each one of them is everything we've got, we pour into that. So we're not doing hundreds of shows or even tens of shows or movies. So we have a team that's just focused on whatever they're working on has got to be the best. And that's the expectation that we have, the expectation that the people that are doing the shows have. And I think usually that creates an environment in which people do their best work.
Cat 3:46 ↗
Quality over quantity.
Eddy Cue 3:48 ↗
Absolutely.
