Guys, this is a very special video for multiple reasons. Number one, I'm at the Apple Park. Number two, today is the day of the Apple event. And the biggest reason is that the person sitting next to me happens to be the one who is running Apple as you see. Meet Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple. And we'll have so much fun. Tim, lovely to have you here.
I mean, big day, multiple day for us.
You know, we're just going in the buggy and saw you around the corner and saw the exact same vibe wherein you said to someone that today is the biggest day for us.
So, multiple products, multiple things coming in.
Yes. You know that the loudest applause came in during the keynote the moment you announced the iPhone Air.
Introducing the newest member of the iPhone family.
Our intention was to make an iPhone that feels like a piece of the future.
Yeah, we had the speculations that Apple might try a different form factor design, something out of the box. And here we have the iPhone Air.
And I'm sure for you to achieve something like this must have been a challenge as well, right? I mean, given how incredibly thin the device is, at the same time how much it packs altogether.
What's your thought towards this?
Yeah, it's a huge breakthrough. It's so thin. It's so light. And have you felt it?
I mean, feels unreal. It shocks you that it's an iPhone.
You're used to a certain weight.
I mean, your brain prepares how much force to apply to lift a certain size.
That's right. Yeah. That's exactly right. And we were able to do this only after multiple years of technology innovation. You know, the chip because we wanted pro-level performance. The thinness meant you needed to use an eSIM.
Because there's no room in the phone for a physical SIM.
We wanted more battery in there. And so that was another constraint because we want good battery life, right? And we wanted it to be durable. And so all of these things were high bars, of course. But it really came together and I could not be more proud of it.
To be honest, feels like a complete package in this sleek of a form factor. Like you are not really compromising on anything. You are getting everything you need, still achieving this level of thickness.
That's right. This level of thickness with pro-level performance.
That's the thing, you would think that that's not possible, but it is. Tim, you just said a thing about the eSIM that okay the space was a constraint and you couldn't put a physical SIM card. In India where I come from, eSIM even today if I like okay the operators offer it but it's not really a mainstream thing. With Apple what we've seen in the past is like whenever Apple does something the market just goes with it. So how do you see countries like India for example the adoption towards the eSIM or maybe you can highlight some advantages that customers might have once they start using eSIM.
Yeah, I think that customers that make the switch from physical SIM to eSIM find out that it's so much more convenient because you're not having to mess with the tool required to open the door, carrying that in the wallet just in case you have to open. You're not having to go down to the store and buy the physical SIM. You're not having to chase around for a local number. And you can easily pick the carrier that you want to support. And of course, it means there's more battery than there would be otherwise. I mean, this phone would not be possible with a physical SIM.
And so, I think there's compelling reasons to move. We started this journey a decade ago with iPad.
And then of course if you look at the watch and the cellular watch there's obviously there it's an eSIM. And so we've been pulling this string for a while and we think the market is now ready for an eSIM-only iPhone.
In fact even today at one of the briefings I saw the demo of how easy it is to transfer your existing eSIM to a new phone with just one click.
That's right. It just works.
That's right. It just works. Tim, I would want to share a personal insight with you. I mean, Apple Watch is a default, you know, like it helps you achieve that fitness. Roughly 5 years ago, I lost 30 kilos in 4 months. All thanks to my Apple Watch.
