What Jensen Huang said

Written from the verified transcript and checked against it. Every figure links to the moment it was said.

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, discussed the reinvention of the computing stack for super intelligence, emphasizing the foundational need for energy, which he credited President Trump's pro-energy stance for enabling. He described data centers as 'SI factories' producing economic value, estimating 10-20 gigawatts of new buildout annually, creating about a million jobs and reindustrializing America. Huang highlighted Nvidia's safety technologies, OpenShell for containment and BlueField for monitoring, arguing safety and capability are not in conflict. He mentioned using Claude for research, saving hours. He also confirmed signing a joint declaration on SI safety with the White House, including joint monitoring and committees. Huang estimated his wealth creation at around $3.5 trillion, and discussed the potential of space-based compute, noting Nvidia's compute works in orbit.

Questions asked in this interview

  1. 1:10:19Elon, how do we win? How do we keep winning?
  2. 1:10:25So the really central challenge, I think, long term is going to be how do you generate enough power and how do you ensure that we have enough logic and memory fabrication capacity in the United States or in a safe region?
  3. 1:15:16What are some specifics you can give about how data centers are good for ordinary Americans in the communities and how they're getting better for those communities?
  4. 1:27:05But maybe each of you could talk—for ordinary Americans, what's super intelligence doing today and what's it going to be able to do in a year?
  5. 1:29:55Can you talk about what each of you are doing to imbue, help make sure that these super intelligences are imbued with the right values?
  6. 1:31:51Is there anything that you can share with the world about what came out of what was evidently a long and productive lunch?

And I said, 'Well, then you got to pay for the rest of the tour here. It seems kind of silly.' And he goes, 'Well, I'll see you in court.' Well, it was done in this place, I think it was Madison, Wisconsin or Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And he still used my name to fill the arena with 15,000 people and then said I just didn't show up. So, when I got this news, you can imagine how upset I was. My reputation is everything to me. I was so angry, so upset. And I'm driving along the California coastline in a convertible car someone gave me as a gift going to my favorite program called Date with Destiny. And I didn't experience any of it. I was just getting madder and madder and madder and more overwhelmed. Who's ever done this where you've got stacked so much negativity that it starts to affect your biochemistry, right? So I started finding at one point I thought I got to change this. Like how did I get here? I just kept stacking all the negative. Have you ever overreacted to somebody and then felt bad about it? Like your kid or somebody and you overreact and afterwards feel bad about it. Who's had this experience? Make a little noise if you have, please. Oh, and if you don't raise your hand, you lie about other stuff, too, don't you? So, when we do this, there's no excuse for it, but you're not doing it because of this moment, are you? You're doing it because it happened again, right? So, you can stack the negative or you can stack the positive. And today, the negative is stacked everywhere. And it's not the media's fault. The media understands something. We're not in an economy anymore. It's all about knowledge. The knowledge economy died. There's too much information. Information society is over. We're drowning in information. We're starving for wisdom. But their job is not to inform you. It's to startle you because if they startle you, you click. And the minute you click, they get paid. And their job is to take care of the people that are their investors. So, we have to be aware of that, right? If you don't control your own mind and guard it, you're going to get stacked with the negative and get overwhelmed. So, let's try something for a moment. I want to show you a visual just for a second here. This is a visual. Of course, you can measure electrically your heart and your brain. And this is a group called HeartMath that did this study. And this is the same person. On the top, you're seeing the blue is the brain waves, the red is the heart waves. And the top state is when a person's in a state of frustration. Okay? Now, what do you notice about it? What do you notice about that state between the heart and the brain?
Shout it out. Yeah. There's no alignment whatsoever. It's jagged. It's all over the place. It's random, right? Feels like chaos. This is the state that you say things in a relationship that you will wish you'd never said that you'll be reminded of 10 years later or it'll destroy the relationship. This is the state people get in car accidents in. Now, the exact same person in less than two minutes looks like this. By actually physically going in a state of appreciation, when I say physically, touching their hand on their heart, believe it or not, focusing on a moment like they're there when they were really grateful. And within two minutes, what do you see? The heart and brain are one. Now, how many of you have ever been in a place where you couldn't remember your own cell number or how to spell a difficult word like 'the'? Okay, who's done this? Say I. Right. On the other hand, how many of you have had something where you did something and after you did it, you went, 'That was me. I don't know how the hell I did that, but that was impressive.' Right? How many of you have ever impressed yourself? Make a little noise. Come on. I know you're out there. Right? So, that's when you're in a flow state. This is a flow state. And we can get there very quickly. So, those of you at home can do this as well. If you stand up and you put both your hands on your heart. Ah, before you do this, one more thing so you can test it. I'd like you to think of some unfinished business in your life so I can show you how to practically use this in just three minutes. When I say unfinished business, is there something in your life that you need to deal with that you're putting off because your life is so stressed? Right? Maybe it's something to do with the business. Maybe it's with your kids. Maybe it's in a relationship. Maybe it's financial. But you got so much going on that like you just put that aside right now because if you focus on that too, it's just too stressful. Who can relate to this out here? Give me some noise. Give me a show of hands if you would. Come on. Let me hear you out there, please. Okay. So, I want you to think of that situation that if you really focused on it, I know you're not right now, but if you focused on it, it would make you stressed. And ideally, pick something, if we measured at 0 to 10, where 10 is completely stressed out and zero is no stress. Something that's ideally a seven, eight, or a nine. Raise your hand if you could think of something like that in your life that if you focused on it produces that kind of stress. Awesome. Then, here's what I want you to do. I want you to forget about it now. Close your eyes. Put your hands on your heart and as you touch your heart physically and this is what they found. It makes a different connection and you can close your eyes or leave them open. And all I want you to do first of all is just breathe into your heart like physically breathe in your heart where you feel the blood going into your heart and you feel the energy of your heart. You feel the strength of your heart. You feel the beauty of your heart. And you can put that music on if you'd like. And as you're breathing in your heart, just for a moment, just for a moment, think about how strong, how powerful this heart is. It beats 100,000 times a day without you ever asking it to. It pumps blood through 60,000 miles of blood vessels. If we took all your blood vessels and put them end to end, that's what they do. They go around the earth twice at the equator at a micro size. And all that's happening constantly. And by the way, you didn't ask for this heart, but how do we know when a baby is alive in a mother's womb? Heartbeat. And as long as that heart beats, we live. And you didn't have to earn this heart. You didn't have to prove you were worth it. Something cared enough about you to give you this thing called life and the beating heart. And as long as it beats, we live. At least in this existence. So breathe deeply in your heart. And just we're going to do three minutes, two minutes. I want you to think of for 30 seconds or a minute each. A moment in your life you could feel deeply grateful for. It could be any moment at all. It could be little or big. It could be recent. It could be decades ago. Could be meeting someone you love for the first time. The birth of a child, a breakthrough you made in your career or your business, a really beautiful fun time you cherish with family or friends. But pick one that if you wanted to, you could step back in the memory and be there. Like looking through your own eyes as if you were there, seeing what you saw, hearing what you heard, feeling what you felt. Not like watching yourself on a roller coaster over there, like being on the front coming over the edge. And if you can think of a time like that now, here we go. Step in your body and feel it like you're there. And give yourself the gift to feel those feelings all over again. Just right now, just activate your heart and your gratitude, your sense of appreciation. And why gratitude? Because the two emotions that mess us up most in this world are anger and fear. A decision made from anger is usually the wrong decision. A decision made from fear is usually the wrong decision. Not always, but usually. You can't be angry and grateful simultaneously. You can't be fearful and grateful. So step in your body and feel that feeling and just for a moment imagine it flooding your whole body like every cell in your body is being bathed in that feeling of appreciation or gratitude or love of that moment. Just really give yourself the gift to feel it. And then think of a second moment now again. It could be from years ago, moments ago. Second moment you can feel grateful for. Could be something little or big, doesn't matter. Just something you're willing to step in and really feel the gratitude of it. Think of that moment and then breathe in your heart and then step back into that memory too where you can see it, you can feel it, you can appreciate what was happening around you, you can enjoy it. That's it. Let it flood you just for a moment. All the beauty of that moment. Give yourself the gift to fully feel it. And then feel the two of them coming together and doubling the energy, doubling the gratitude or the joy or the love. And then finally, think of one third moment. Now find one more moment you can feel grateful for. Beautiful moment, a grace moment, a magic moment, something you cherish, something you enjoy, something you appreciate. Step into that moment now and feel it fully. Breathe it, feel it, experience it. As you feel all three of them, now feel all three of them come together. As you feel all three of them, just for a second, make a sound out loud as fast as you can. Just without holding it back, like you do when you're excited. A sound of all these feelings in your body. Just for one moment. One, two, three. Make that sound. Go.
Do it one more time. 1, 2, 3. Go. Now, with your eyes still closed, reach your right hand out like you're going to grab another memory. This time, grab a memory when you felt really proud. Maybe something you've achieved or accomplished. Could be little or big. I was one of the 10 lords of leaping in the first grade play. I was proud. I worked at the presidents. I was proud. Grab it and bring it to your heart and say yes as you bring it in. And feel that one mixing with a moment you were grateful for. And let's stack a bunch of these. Grab another moment you felt proud. Another moment in your life you felt proud. Bring it in. Yes. That's it. Find a great moment with family or friends and bring that in. Go. Yes. Find a humorous moment. Did you ever laugh so hard that stuff came out your nose in the inappropriate way? Do you ever have something so silly you did or someone else did just made you laugh like crazy? Bring that moment in that made you laugh out loud. Bring in a romantic moment or a sensual moment. Bring in a spiritual moment. That's it. Now, just for 20 seconds, bring in as many moments as you can, one after another. Maybe even borrow from the future. Almost as if the universe or God was giving you a preview of some moments in the future you're going to be proud. Some moments in the future with family or friends. Bring as many as you can in for the next 10 seconds. Just bring them in. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. And at the end of this, I'm going to ask you to make a sound as loud as you can and just like a celebratory sound of what it feels like in your life. Are you ready? 1, 2, 3. Unleash. Go.
And then open your eyes. And how do you feel? How many feel better right now? Let's use it. Let's use it. I want you to stay in your heart just for a moment. I'll finish with this. And I want you to think of that stressful thing that you've been putting off, but not in your head. Stay in your heart and repeat to the end of this phrase. Just say that thing that used to be so stressful. All I need to remember about that. All I need to focus on. All you need to do is what? All I need to remember about that. All I need to focus on. All I really need to do is what? And let your heart tell you the answer because your heart has the answer. All I need to remember. All I need to focus on. All we need to do is what? Raise your right hand if you've got an answer to what used to stress you out so much. Raise it nice and high so I can see if you went out there, ladies and gentlemen. That's pretty awesome. Thank you for having me. Have a beautiful day.
Host 11:46 ↗
Okay, you guys. Hello everybody. So, you've been here all day. I understand. And I hope you enjoyed that speech from Tony. We are going to take a five-minute bathroom break and then we are going to be joined by some of the biggest AI and tech leaders in the country. Elon Musk and Jensen Huang are on their way from the White House. They just had a pretty newsy meeting with the president. You're going to hear from them on stage followed by the vice president of the United States JD Vance and Joe Gabbia to finish the day. So why don't we all take a five minute break. We'll meet back here in this room in five minutes for Elon and Jensen. Thank you.
Reporter 15:50 ↗
Mr. President, Mr. President, Senator, my friend from London, Mr. President, from London, a great British journalist here from the UK seems to want to use AI to control the population to crack down on free speech. Do you see, thank you for the nodding, do you see this causing a problem between America and that part of the world?
Donald Trump 16:11 ↗
No, I think maybe just the opposite. It's going to open things up. That part of the world has a lot of problems right now. They're not growing. They're stifled. Europe is doing so poorly. And I don't like saying that.
Reporter 16:27 ↗
Percent of Americans think the federal government is not doing enough in terms of AI. What is your message to them today when you're saying there don't need to be anymore?
Donald Trump 16:34 ↗
When you say not doing enough, our companies are dominating the world. Dominating.
Reporter 16:38 ↗
They think the federal government not doing enough.
Donald Trump 16:40 ↗
I know. I know, but they're dominating China. They're dominating every... We want to keep it that way.
Reporter 16:46 ↗
You said that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons, right?
Donald Trump 16:50 ↗
Why not? North Korea can't have nuclear weapons?
Reporter 16:54 ↗
Ah, that's interesting.
Donald Trump 16:55 ↗
You know why? Because he had a different president and they could have stopped him. He happens to be a friend of mine, Kim Jong-un. He's a friend of mine. He likes Trump. Doesn't like a lot of other people. I'm about the only person in the entire world that he likes. And I like him. I get in a lot of heat when I say that. People say that's terrible. He does have a nuclear capacity, a large nuclear, pretty large nuclear, not like us, but he has a nuclear capacity. Kim Jong-un. And you know why? Because they had presidents that didn't do what I did.
Reporter 17:25 ↗
Mr. President, can I ask you about... Mr. President?
Donald Trump 17:30 ↗
That could have been stopped. You know that.
Reporter 17:32 ↗
But they had presidents that weren't Trump and they didn't stop.
Donald Trump 17:36 ↗
Mr. President, Mr. President... you know what? As long as I'm around, he's going to be fine.
Reporter 17:40 ↗
President, Mr. President, Mr. President, can I ask about why?
Donald Trump 17:43 ↗
Because he respects me and he likes me.
Reporter 17:45 ↗
Mr. President, can we ask about in the UK? Mr. President, have you decided on an AI or a super intelligence?
Donald Trump 17:50 ↗
Uh, I'm very close to making a decision. Yes.
Reporter 17:52 ↗
Mr. President,
Donald Trump 17:54 ↗
I'll be naming, I'd say over the next three or four days. I want to check with the companies. I want to check with Mike and with John Thune and with everybody else that's involved. But we have somebody that's extraordinary.
Reporter 18:06 ↗
Can you tell us about... Mr. President? What more can you tell us about the incident at Fairfield in the UK that the...
Donald Trump 18:13 ↗
I'm just disappointed that they caught terrorists. They did a good job and then they sort of let them go. I don't know. How do you give bail to a terrorist? So, I don't know.
Reporter 18:23 ↗
Was this a long-standing investigation?
Donald Trump 18:25 ↗
A longstanding? Yeah, we were involved in it, but as you know, your fellow countrymen, they let him go. So, well, they didn't let him go. They put him out on bail. I assume they have them watched closely, but these were serious people. Seriously bad people and they should not have done that. Yeah.
Reporter 18:42 ↗
Did you discuss your meeting with President Xi with the tech leaders today? What if any guard rail?
Donald Trump 18:47 ↗
We had a great meeting with President Xi. A lot of respect for President Xi and they have a lot of respect for President Xi. Yeah, we discussed it in quite in great detail.
Reporter 18:55 ↗
Mr. President, can I ask you, Mr. President? Thank you. Mr. President, what's your reaction to Republican candidates who are breaking with you, openly distancing themselves from you on issues like data centers, like immigration?
Donald Trump 19:08 ↗
Well, look, I won in a landslide. I won all seven swing states. I won all the states that you talked about. I think out of the 22 areas that we're talking about where there's big contention, I won 21 of them. So, you have 21 and the other one was very close. In fact, a lot of people think I won two things. So, just so you understand, they all want me to go. I'm one person. They all want me to go campaign. I'm starting in about two days. I'm starting literally a 32-day tour. Going to all... I'm going to Texas. I'm going to Ohio. I'm going to all different places. And as you see with Darlene, Lindsey Graham's sister, is fantastic by the way. She was behind in the polls. I went did a rally for her and now she, you know, she ended up beating a very good politician, a great politician by a lot.
Reporter 19:57 ↗
But do candidates maybe have some leeway then to if they need to be if they need to break with you on some issue.
Donald Trump 20:00 ↗
I don't think there's much difference. I think when Mike goes and I go and we explain that the data centers are going to make these communities a fantastic amount of money and individually make up a lot of money. I think they'll become very very...
Reporter 20:14 ↗
But there's also the war on immigration.
JD Vance 20:16 ↗
President Trump is standing for local communities and hardworking Americans and so are Republican candidates on the stump. There's no disagreement. What he's saying today, wait, what he's saying today is that these companies when they go in to innovate on behalf of the American people and on behalf of our national security and making sure we remain the last great superpower on the planet, they're also going to be heeding community concerns. Every single one of them could come to the mics and tell you that that's their commitment.
Reporter 20:39 ↗
But as you know, candidates are also... immigration going forward on the war in... partners.
Donald Trump 20:44 ↗
I know we have a lot of things, but for the most part, I have to tell you, the Republican party is really united. We had a convention a couple of weeks ago that a lot of you said, 'Oh, it's a midterm. It's never been done before. It's going to be a failure.' And they put it against the NFL and we had 107 million views and the NFL had 25 million views. That convention was unbelievable. It really successful. But look, I would say generally speaking, the Republican party is as united as maybe I've ever seen. You know what? They love me and I love them.
Reporter 21:24 ↗
Go ahead, please. Thank you so much. I'm so sorry. Can we just bring Dario to the front for a second? Where's Dario? Was the one who kind of...
Donald Trump 21:30 ↗
Dario is great. Whatever he says is okay. Be careful.
Reporter 21:34 ↗
Slow down AI. So, I just want to hear from you after this big summit where you are today.
Dario Amodei 21:39 ↗
Look, I mean, I will say what I've always said, which is that AI has incredible benefits. I've talked about the medical benefit to the technology. As the president has said, you know, whoever wins AI wins. I think that's very important but I think the technology has very real risks and you know the mechanism how we address those risks is still under discussion. But we all need to work, we all need to work together to make sure that we can win and we can win safely. If we do this right, we work with the president and everyone here, we can win safely.
Reporter 22:13 ↗
Do you agree with no guard rails? No guard rails. And Dario's been... Do you think that self policing is enough?
Donald Trump 22:19 ↗
And he had a view. Hold it, hold it, hold it. CNN fake news. Do you think that self policing is enough? Dario has been fantastic. We had dinner the other night and he agrees with everyone. I mean, we all agree. Mark had a view that was I thought really right down the middle. Mark, you want to discuss what you thought?
Mark Zuckerberg 22:38 ↗
Sure. Sure. I mean, I can kind of summarize what I think we all signed today. Which is the White House accord on developing this technology safely. The basic idea is that we want to give the American people and our customers confidence that the technology works in the way that we intend. Right? So, every company is building something that's a little bit different. You know, having one set of like standards for what is what everyone should want to build. People want to do some different things, but I think what we can all agree on is that the American public and our customers want to know that what we're building is working in the way that we all intend. So we drafted a set of principles and commitments around building robust internal controls and detecting if there are any issues with the technology coupled with multiple layers of auditing and controls starting with internal risk review, external auditors and evaluators and agreeing that we're going to have all of our boards of directors independently review the reports that come from the auditors. I think that these are good steps forward. The idea isn't that this is the only thing that we will ever do. It is that this is a start and an accord that the whole industry could come to and I was very proud to have that discussion with a number of our colleagues who I think are running great companies. You know it was sort of a historic conversation. I don't think anything like this has come before and I think this is a meaningful step forward. So thank you.
Donald Trump 24:11 ↗
It is very important, safe. We wanted all to be safe. This tremendous good. We wanted to be safe and they're going to be watching over each other. Some of you want to say, Mr. President.
Sundar Pichai 24:22 ↗
First of all, thanks, Mr. President.
Donald Trump 24:23 ↗
You have no idea who these people are. These are the biggest people in the world. You have no idea who the hell they are. This guy is a monster and nobody knows. What a great life. To be a monster and not have to go through... He says, 'What the name?' What's your name?
Sundar Pichai 24:37 ↗
Just all you have to know is Sundar.
Donald Trump 24:40 ↗
Sundar is his name. Hopefully a better tagline than I'm a monster.
Sundar Pichai 24:47 ↗
Well, first of all, really proud to be here today as an industry. I think this moment is historic and consequential. And I think there are extraordinary benefits to this technology. You can see it in the GDP growth we see. We have to make sure we are addressing the risks. And the president has asked us as an industry to step up and we want to make sure we're putting our product safely. And as Mark said, we are signing up to a set of processes and controls like we do in other areas like financial controls in a company and we are bringing those well-known best practices to the development.
Reporter 25:22 ↗
Why should the public trust Mr...?
Donald Trump 25:25 ↗
You know why? Because they're outstanding people and they don't want anybody, they don't want anything to go wrong. I mean, their companies are at stake. If something goes wrong, their companies are at stake. They're not going to let that happen. Issues to humanity. This is going to be all for the good and we're gonna have it good, be nice and safe and they're really going to be policing each other and that's the way it works.
Reporter 25:44 ↗
Mr. President, Mr. President, if you have information that national security is at risk with this technology, will you support then a slowdown of the technology?
Donald Trump 25:54 ↗
I will let the world know about it. If I ever heard, I would come out here. I'd hold a news conference and I'd let the world know about it. It's not... there is no risk to the police themselves.
JD Vance 26:08 ↗
Sir, I think, thank you very much. Thank you. I think the consensus today around that national security issue was being the leader in America in AI is the most important thing for national security. I think everybody agreed on that today. Winning the AI race is winning and we need to do that. That's the first principle. Second principle that was discussed all day today was putting the American people first in that race. I think everybody came together around those two principles today.
Reporter 26:36 ↗
Jay, Mr. President, Mr. President, can I ask you about... Can I ask about ICE enforcement? Cattle groups are warning that ICE crackdowns in Kansas are having problems about ICE now. How do you get... That's right. For beef processing, Mr. President, and they're bringing up prices. Mr. President, any comment on your ICE enforcement bringing up prices? Mr. President,
Donald Trump 26:57 ↗
ICE has done a phenomenal job in keeping our people safe. They've done a fantastic job in taking murderers, rapists, drug dealers, the worst people on earth. The worst, the worst people all over the world. They got dumped into our country by Joe Biden allowing open borders where people came in unvetted, untested, unchecked, and they walked through our country by 25 million. And we've gotten most of the really bad ones out, and the rest are going out. But these are murderers and the worst people in the world. And we've done one hell of a job. And you ought to talk to the Democrats. Why did you allow 25 million people, many of whom were the worst criminals? Why did you allow them into our country? You disturbed our country. You hurt our country.
Reporter 27:46 ↗
Mr. President, did you take the opportunity today to urge these tech leaders to be more careful about where they put data centers to avoid... frankly I want them built in America.
Donald Trump 27:59 ↗
There's some that will be built in right now Finland and other places. There's one going up in Finland. If we're not smart, they'll end up building data centers in other countries and those other countries will make a fortune and we won't. The data centers are making a fortune. But now what's happening is something very important. The people in those areas and we discussed this at length today. They're going to greatly benefit financially.
Reporter 28:30 ↗
Mr. President, but do you want them to stay away from home? Do you want them to stay away from homes when they're building these data centers?
Donald Trump 28:36 ↗
Yeah, I think I want them to be in the right location within a community. You know, if you look at Loudoun County, if you look at some of these counties, they're making billions of dollars. Taxes are going way down. The data centers are making an absolute fortune. But now, the people are going to benefit directly. Whether it's teachers that get paid a bonus, whether it's people that live in the community that get paid a dividend, you could call it a dividend because a dividend sounds right. They are going to greatly benefit by what's happened. The data centers are incredible. And by the way, I'm very good at real estate. Some of those buildings are absolutely beautiful. They're big and they're, you know, big, strong, powerful buildings, but they're beautiful and they add greatly to a community. It started with a false narrative mostly by, I would say, Democrats that data centers are bad. So data centers are bringing a tremendous amount of money into the community and the people now are going to benefit directly whether it's teachers or other people that live in the...

What about the risk of Chinese AI development overtaking the US? What do you think?
Donald Trump 29:41 ↗
Well, I don't think it's going to happen unless we're stupid and we force these people into other countries and that can happen. What did they tell you?
Reporter 29:49 ↗
I mean, there's one gentleman that's in... he happens to be building one in Europe because it was easier for him to do.
Donald Trump 29:54 ↗
We can't do that. We want them built in this country. We want... It's massive income. People's taxes are going to go down. It's going to pay off debt. It's massive income. It's growth. You know the word growth? When I got elected, I talked about growth. This is growth like nobody's ever seen before.

People across the world are worried about their own job when it comes to AI and Mr. Musk has spoken about an age of abundance which sounds lovely but what about when people... what are the jobs of the future?
Donald Trump 30:26 ↗
Elon, I didn't see you back there. What are you doing so far back? May we hear from... Elon, go ahead. You could answer that question.
Elon Musk 30:33 ↗
Sorry, the question was about age of abundance... the future because people looking at this will be worried particularly laptop jobs. What are they going to do in the future? Well, I think it is worth highlighting the positive benefits of AI, which... super intelligence. I think by far the most likely outcome is an age of abundance where we don't have just universal basic income, we have universal high income. And you know people speak about the medical benefits. I think the... but maybe it's worth talking a bit more about that. When you have robots and you have super intelligence, it means that everyone in the world can have better medical care than anyone here, including me. And wouldn't that be wonderful?
Reporter 31:22 ↗
Not if they haven't got a job.
Elon Musk 31:25 ↗
Well, jobs are going to change. Jobs have always changed. Being a computer used to be a job. There used to be buildings full of people doing calculations. But now, you know, digital computers do those tasks. And I don't think anyone is pining to go back and do calculations all day, to do bank interest rates, which is what they used to do. So I think we'll see an evolution of roles. And as the president has mentioned, it's not as though unemployment has increased. In fact, there's a tremendous demand for people. So I think the most likely outcome and it's probably worth looking at the most likely outcome is one which is incredibly beneficial and it's a future that if you could look into the future, it is a future you would want.
Reporter 32:11 ↗
Mr. President, Democrat... Elon and I sat with President Xi the other day and he will take every data center that we don't want. Do you agree with that?
Donald Trump 32:21 ↗
He's done. He would take out every single one because you know why? They're smart. They want every data center. They want it because that's great for China. Well, it's great for us and we're leading by a lot and we're going to keep it that way. It's going to be also it's going to be very very safe and there's a self policing and there's also a group policing and it's going to be great.
Reporter 32:45 ↗
Mr. President, does... run for question. Mr. President, how worried are you about... Mr. President? Mr. President, does Putin want peace, sir? Mr. President, can I ask you a quick question? Can your industry regulate itself?
Hello America. Please take your seats. Our afternoon session is about to begin.
Okay, good afternoon everybody. The panel I think we have all been waiting for on artificial intelligence or should I say super intelligence. It is becoming one of the defining technologies of American economic strength. No doubt national security and yes scientific leadership. The question is not whether it will shape the future but whether America will lead the future with respect to AI. So for this conversation there is nobody better. Please welcome Elon Musk and Jensen Huang in conversation with Gavin Baker. Please.
Gavin Baker 1:07:24 ↗
Hey team. Oh gee. Are we late? Guys, good to be here. Go America. Go America. Team America. America. Yes, indeed. So, America, Wright brothers, first man on the moon, the internet, the two of us, Wright brothers. I like that. Indeed. We've essentially led every major technological revolution, which has been to the enormous benefit of America, ordinary Americans. We're I guess we're now calling this super intelligence, which I think is actually good branding. And so let's talk about how America wins this and we make that winning good for ordinary Americans.
Jensen Huang 1:08:07 ↗
Well, excuse me, diet... sorry. First of all, artificial super intelligence, super intelligence is a complete reinvention of the computing stack. Everything from the way the processors, the chips are designed and the way they operate to the way software is now trained and developed to the way that the applications are able to perform what they're able to do and how they perform, every single layer of the computing stack has been reinvented. This way of doing computing unlike previous ways of retrieving information, this is a generative approach to computing and therefore in order for us to succeed the first thing we need is energy because we need the energy to run the compute, the compute run the algorithms, the algorithms then feed the applications. And so at the foundational layer is energy and from that energy we build the land, power, and shell and that host the infrastructure, so on and so forth. And so the way we win, of course we are world class in chip design. We're world class in algorithm development. And so one of the things that we need to do is just be vigilant about enabling power delivery and power generation to happen. And President Trump has been visionary in being pro-energy. Without the pro-energy vision of President Trump, it would have been impossible for us to build the data centers on top of it. Now, of course, these data centers are coming online so quickly. We're coming into a lot of neighborhoods and a lot of communities. We have to do a better job in partnering with the communities and to make and bring them along and make them part of the prosperity and the success of this industrial revolution.
But that's how we win. We got to build the world's best chips, we have to have lots and lots of energy, create incredible algorithms, and then lastly make sure that America is enthusiastic about the technology so that we diffuse it into all of these various industries, from manufacturing to healthcare, space exploration, so on and so forth.
Awesome. Elon, how do we win? How do we keep winning?
Elon Musk 1:10:25 ↗
Well, we need a lot of power, a lot of energy generation. So, scaling energy, I think, is one of the biggest things. You've got to scale energy, you've got to scale chip production. And I think we're winning on software, on anything intellectual or digital. But in the long run, we need to be able to generate enough power to compete with—I think essentially China is the biggest competitor—and China has about three times the electricity production of the United States. And I think we'll figure out how to make chips. So the really central challenge, I think, long term is going to be how do you generate enough power and how do you ensure that we have enough logic and memory fabrication capacity in the United States or in a safe region?
Jensen Huang 1:11:25 ↗
Well, you are—we need the right brothers on the job.
Yes. Well, it turns out the right brothers are on the job. Elon, if you bring on 10 gigawatts, which SpaceX has discussed publicly, that'll be about 25% of all the power added in America. And I know you have literal rocket engineers working on bringing on the power.
Elon Musk 1:11:45 ↗
Yeah.
Helping make the turbines. So can you talk about that?
